Rating: Summary: Great vacation reading Review: I took this book with me on my honeymoon. I finished it in 3 days!!!! You will not want to put it down. I really enjoy James Pattersons writing style. The book is full of suspense.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: The Beach House is a really good book, It's got everything a man or woman needs in a book, mistery, exitement, thriller and a good story. It starts off by beeing a character in the book that dies in the beginnning but I like how the author go's into every person and acts as the character is the main person in the book. I recomend it.
Rating: Summary: A Good Summer Read Review: In his latest book James Patterson teams up with Peter de Jonge to produce a swiftly paced and unforgettable novel. We are brought into the playground of the rich and famous and amongst them the Neubauers; Barry and Campion. The Neubauers are renowned for their great flashy and expensive parties, which are thrown as often as possible during the year and this is where the young Peter Mullen has found a niche for himself as a valet; parking the visitors cars. It then is with some surprise when his lawyer brother Jack arrives at the Hamptons to pay a visit to his favourite brother, that he is told by the authorities that Peter Mullen has recently committed suicide by drowning. Jack is flabbergasted for his brother was a lover of life and they were extremely close. Jack sees fit to start an investigation along with other family members living there. As the investigation starts stumbling blocks are put in the way making it oh so very obvious to Jack that there ais a cover-up going on, and he is being blocked from the truth of the matter. Obviously this spurs him on even more and by this time even the rich and famous have become part of facade influencing the less wealthy and the "never hads". Black mail, kidnapping, murder are all coming into play as Jack tries to fight against the privileged and powerful. An excellent summer read, with a startling ending.
Rating: Summary: A good read... Review: I really enjoyed this book. It's a very quick read, I read it in about 6 hours. It really kept my interest and when I put the book down, I couldn't stop thinking about what was going to happen next. Try it, you won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: Worst Book I've Read In Years Review: Like another reviewer remarked, I'd give this book zero stars if I could. Read all the negative reviews and then multiply them by 100. This is a stinker in every way: the characters, dialogue, the plot (if you can call it a plot) and the ending. Patterson has written some great stuff but you would never know it from this tripe. The book was a insult and really angered me. A total waste of time and money and the English language. Watching paint dry would have been far more satisfying. Don't believe me...then see for yourself, it's awful in every way.
Rating: Summary: Take it to the beach page turner Review: I LOVED this book. I couldn't put it down. It keeps you hanging till the last page. You'll be happy if you read this book.
Rating: Summary: Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover (or synopsis) Review: When I saw this book in the store and read the set-up for the plot, I anticpated a great read. Instead, this book was so bad I almost wanted my money back. I felt cheated. The dialogue was wooden, characters one dimensional and unbelievable. The story lacked credibility in the early stages -- one would have to believe that the entire town and a prestigious law firm for no motive whatsoever was involved in a massive cover-up -- and then amazingly became just totally absurd. My morals don't permit me to reveal the ending of this book (or any book) but if it could save one person from reading this book I might make an exception because it was so ridiculous. What were they thinking??? P.S. If I could give this zero stars I would.
Rating: Summary: Very Exciting Review: This book did make for interesting Reading. I wouldn't agree at all that it was in anyway boring nor should a child even handle this book. Yet I thought it was probably a closer to non fiction, rather then fiction. There are some real sick puppies out in the world, maybe Patterson was sharing a little of his research into a bit of fantasy. Who knows? It was a very easy read and I read it in an afternoon. I thought it was Exciting and at times quite sad. James is such a prolific writer, he can write from vast story lines. The thing is that people need to be open to all his talents, he is not Committed to Alex Cross, thoses are just a handful of his books. The Beach House, is an outstanding novel and I have told many to pick it up, you will not put it down.
Rating: Summary: Not Great Literature, But . . . . Review: I'm an avid reader who tries to read at least a book a week. I read "Beach House" in an afternoon and an evening; I couldn't put it down. Obviously, it's a little on the trashy side--some of the descriptions toward the end are a bit sick--but it was also a relief from some of the really serious stuff I'd been reading. (Were this a movie, I would rate it X. I don't recommend it for the squeamish, prudes or kids. I may have to take it to my office so that Kimball Ross, my good dog and reading buddy, doesn't pick it up.) It's a fast-paced novel--I detest using "read" as a noun--and I was surprised how quickly I devoured it. Yes, it held my interest, and to me it's almost like a comic strip or cartoon. In an earlier day, would it be called pulp fiction? The only thing that really bothers me--and one of the reviewers pointed this out--is that I'm not sure I completely understand the killer's motivation. Maybe there was nothing to understand.
Rating: Summary: Easy reading with a good story line Review: This book had some excellent sub plots. It was an easy read and fairly enjoyable. The ending of the book stretched the bounds of reason. However, it did provide a different scenerio from most legal works of fiction. I enjoyed the Alex Cross series. I believe those books were written at a higher level.
