Summary: I Can Only Echo All the Other Reviewers
Review: Before I read this book I looked at some of the other reviews: "Better than Clancy." "Very realistic." "He's been there and done that." "Dave Meadows knows what he's talking about." "A superb first book." They were all right - this is a fantastic Navy techno-thriller that says as much about the future we may face (if we're not careful) as it does in telling a good Navy yarn. I eagerly await the sequel.

Summary: The Sixth Fleet - Mandatory Reading
Review: The chapters that detail the sinking of the USS Gearing should be mandatory reading for all naval personnel, from the kids at the school house, to the men and women serving in the Navy today. Capt. Meadows has done a remarkable job describing the real problems encountered by the fleet. His character development was very good, and the manner in which he describes the actions taking place was remarkable. "The Sixth Fleet" reminds me of the early Clancy novels; however, it is much better. I look forward to reading the sequels to this magnificent series. BRAVO ZULU Captain Meadows!

Summary: THE SIXTH FLEET
Review: It was a very exciting book, it was written very well you never wanted to put it down. The book seemed to end in the middle of the story. There must be a sequal, taking over where this leaves off. Please let me know which book continues the story so that I can purchase it.

Summary: Move over Tom Clancy -- D.E. Meadows on your six!
Review: An extremely well done piece of work. Riveting, gripping, and full of action. This being the author's first suspense novel, I found myself asking for more. Anxiously waiting for the next in the series to be released!

Summary: Great Read!
Review: Dave Meadows has written a super story. He brings a reality to his plot that most authors don't have. That's the scariest part of this book, it could happen.

Bravo Zulu IGOR, I'm looking forward to the next one.

Summary: +Simply great.
Review: An avid reader of this kind of stuff, and having been in the Navy a long time ago, I approached the book with some skepticism...but I have pre-ordered the sequel. Lots of action, realistic characters and reactions to situations we (thankfully) have not seen (yet) and very well done.

Summary: Sixth Fleet
Review: Having known David "Igor" Meadows for twenty years, I was not surprised that he wrote a book, just that he wrote such a fine one. He has captured what it is really like to be in the maelstrom that exists out on the pointy end of the spear. The Navy has been targeted many times in recent history and he knows just how to accurately portray that environment. Dave has achieved in his first book a level of performance that most writers never achieve. I read the last 100 pages as fast as I could and when I finished, asked myself, "When does the next installment of 'Sixth Fleet' come out." Way to go, Dave. You have written an outstanding work of fiction.

Summary: This book has it all...
Review: Allies of questionable loyalty, nations in turmoil, terrorism and of course, Naval Heroes. David Meadows' future seems highly plausible and his storytelling grabs you. I couldn't put the book down until I finished and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment in October. I heartily recommend this book!

Summary: An excellent read
Review: Meadows has obviously "been there - done that". The seemingly 'far-fetched' scenario of terrorist attacks on ships of the U.S. Navy became a lot more realistic last October in Yemen. The author shows a unique ability to weave the results of a wonderfully vivid imagination and decades of first-hand experience into factual tactical operations. I haven't enjoyed reading such a fictional tactical scenario as much since the opening chapter of "Red Storm Rising". And I'll certainly be wondering about the coordinates on my GPS the next time I head for my favorite fishing spot.

I've already ordered Seawolf.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Realistic and wrenching
Review: Dave Meadows has done a superb job of blending a modern warfare scenario with his peresonal knowledge of the Mediterranean. An excellent story and a "must read" for those interested in military operations. I look forward to his next book.
