Summary: A fine sequel to Choosers of the Slain.
Review: James delivers again with a fast paced glimpse at future naval warfare. His grasp of the hazards of littoral combat in the near future mirrors the concerns of the worlds navies. The technolgy of the fictional "USS Cunningham" matches naval designs for the 21st century, but does not over-shadow the important human element in the story. The conflicts background could have been a little more fleshed out however. All in all a damn fine, can't-put-it-down book. I can't wait for the next installment.

Summary: Sea Strike
Review: Really enjoyed this book. Good story tied around the action, and the female lead character, commanding a war ship was intriguing. Well done book. Anxious for next in series.

Summary: Great sea story and follow up to Chosers of the Slain
Review: Sea Strike is a fast read for those who are interested in high tech naval battles of the future. It is written in Clancy style and continues the saga of Captain Amanda Garrett and the USS Cunningham. I enjoyed both books and look forward to the next episode. The Naval Technology is very accurate and up to date. As we say in the Navy "Bravo Zulu" (well done!).

Summary: Great writing, great plot, when's the next book coming out?
Review: Sea Strike is a great sequel to Choosers of the Slain and Cobb has clearly established himself as an author whose fans can't wait for the next book to appear. As with Clancy and Grisham, I want the next one as soon as I finished reading this volume. Commander Amanda Lee Garrett has the potential to be the focus of a whole series of sea yarns covering her whole career, from Ensign to Chief of Naval Operations. Cobb can follow the pattern of the Hornblower books and go both forward and backward to cover her career. She has skippered the Cunningham in the Antartic and in the Pacific, maybe the next setting will be in the the Med where they can deal with another whole scenario of battling crazies as she has to rescue a cruise ship [Cobb is welcome to the plot idea]. Naval adventure fans can't go wrong with this book, just be prepared to stay up late night to finish it.

Summary: Another Great Hit!!!!
Review: Set in historically tense waters, "SEA STRIKE" by James H. Cobb, is a very well written and exciting second effort for this author! Captain Amanda Garret finds her self off the coast of China, under the nose of the Red Chinese forces and a American Admiral who has reservations about her being there. As the Taiwanese invade Red China, American forces watch the situation unfolds till the Communists take the bomb out of the box. Then it is the Cunningham's turn and the stealth destroyer's awesome tech is the point of the navy's saber to deal with the situation. Mr. Cobb has a smooth, informative yet exciting writting style. The author has a skill for informing the reader of all they want to know, yet Mr. Cobb has crafted that information into an exciting read and storyline that doesn't leave the reader wanting for more!

Summary: A Spellbinding Yarn Of Modern Naval Tactics and Combat.
Review: The second in the Amanda Garrett series spins a great tale of daring do. Great plots and sub-plots, characterization, and informed Naval warefare doctrine. One of the best I have read in the last year.

Summary: What a stinker
Review: There are so many errors in this book that it is laughable. By the time I stopped reading it, I was convinced that the only thing Mr. Cobb knew about the Navy was that it had ships. I finally stopped around page 42 when he talkes about "0100 in the afternoon." Someone should tell this clown that 0100 is always in the morning. Next time he would be well advised to do some basic research before he starts writing.

Summary: Feels like a direct hit by a Sea SLAM!
Review: This book was great. I mean great. The characters were beliebvable, and I like to see for once really thrilling surface combat. I thought the pace was good, fast near the end but not so fast as you cannot believe it. The only shortcoming came when the Cunningham seemed unable to deal with the old shore batteries during the rescue. You'll see if you haven't read the book. A real thriller, with a slamming finish!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent technothriller
Review: Very easy to compare James Cobb's writing with that of Dale Brown's "Old Dog" series. High tech action on the high seas. Cobb's characters face both the professional challenges of military service, as well as the personal problems that face career military personnel.
