Rating: Summary: NONSTOP ACTION Review: Ice Station may not be the most credible book in the world, but it sure is one of the most exciting. An original storyline with lots of twists keeps the reader on their toes, noty to mention the constant barrage of action and adventure that they are under.. What you would think would be an ordinary read, Ice Station suprises you and ends up being an action packed page turner that no imaginative human could put down.
Rating: Summary: Excelent Book Review: I just couldnt put it down, even read it at work :) Action, action and more action - what more could you want. Very graphic, very detailed - may not be 100% facticious but who cares. This is a whirlwind of action from start to finish, cant wait to get my hands on more of Reilly's books. Way to go !
Rating: Summary: Searingly fast read! Review: This one really stretches credibility, but I don't think that I've ever turned pages faster! The scenes are crisp and although the characterization is light, are interesting enough to carry the book; some images may stay in your head for a long time. The best thing about this book is that the author is young so hopefully we will be reading many books from him in the future! Well done action story! Thankfully the military stuff is accessibly written and not weighed down with complicated detail!
Rating: Summary: 007, eat your heart out! Review: This is a FUN book. Like a James Bond or Die Hard move, just ignore the improbabilities and enjoy the ride. The authors newer book, Temple, has even more action! If both Ice Station and Temple don't get made into movies I am a monkey's uncle. They have Bruce and Arnold written all over them. Or even jackie Chan as Scarecrow! As for the guys who give it 1 or 2 stars because they think some things are a bit unrealistic. DUH! I could probably find huge factual errors in 99% of the books I read. But I read for the pleasure and not to prove how smart I am so I ignore them. Be a dull life otherwise.....
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Wow, what a ride! I couldn't put this book down for a minute! So what if the story's not always believable. If you love non-stop action and high-tech military adventure, you'll love this work of fiction. I look forward to Mr. Riley's next book.
Rating: Summary: The story just never stops! Review: This has got to be one of the best action and technology stories I have read. It combines attributes of action, terror, and science-fiction in a way that ensures you can never put the book down. If only Antartica were this exciting!
Rating: Summary: More Praise for Ice Station Review: "It takes a really good action thriller to shove its way into this space, but ICE STATION made it with ease. What follows are some of the wildest and most sustained battles in an action thriller in a long time." - The Chicago Tribune "Employing crude but effective prose, a nonstop spray of short, punchy paragraphs and cliffhangers galore, this is grade-A action pulp." - Publisher's Weekly
Rating: Summary: Blaine McCracken and Dirk Pitt joined as one super hero! Review: Set belief aside and prepare for a wild arctic adventure. Shane Schofield could have been cloned from Blaine McCracken and Dirk Pitt. You just know he will save the day, but WOW, how he does it!
Rating: Summary: Great reading. Review: I bought Matthew Reilly's book, Ice Station, while on a "transit-rush" through Sydney Airport. I must admit that this book caught my imagination from the very first page until the last. One should usually sleep on the flight back from Austarlia to Europe, but the book kept me awake! An excelent book which I can strongly advice others to read. This is Matthews Reilly's second novel, I am now trying to find his first. Good book ... buy it!
Rating: Summary: yeeeeeeee-haaaaaaa! Review: Dear Reviewers Who Gave This One Star. Get a life, would you? It's not Shakespeare, and it's not meant to be. What it is, is an incredibly fast-paced action piece where characterisation is secondary to pure adrenaline pumping action! And it's a great achievement - anyone who can make their writing so visual, so frenetic, so manic must be some kind of genius! And if he's stretched plausibility a little, well, who the hell cares? Films forget about reality all the time - who says books can't do it too! Personally I think you're jealous because he's 24 and published. To everyone else, take a deep breath, suspend your sense of disbelief, and hang on tight. You're in for quite a ride.
