Rating: Summary: Kinda boring Review: This one just wasn't as good as her previous books. I found the plot boring, and it wasn't as funny either. Pick this one up at the library if you really want to read it.
Rating: Summary: The seventh book in the Stephanie Plum Series Review: You can't go wrong when you pick up a book by Evanovich. Stephanie Plum is a modern day Bounty Hunter in the learning phase of the job. She hates guns and she tends to befriend people that are dangerous to her well-being. With that said she is off on another case to find a hit man who is so blind he accidentally shot an icon of Jesus hanging on a wall and is never going to live it down. He's depressed and on the lam after jumping bail, when our heroine steps into the picture. Stephanie is riding a Harley in this one, and life in Trenton, NJ in never going to be the same. Dougie and Mooner disappear along with their pot roast and this one takes you along a storyline that will have you in stitches. Mom is trying to get Stephanie Married off to Joe and her sister Valerie comes home and decides that maybe she is ment to be a lesbian. The fun never ends and the laughs keep on coming. Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: Let me say first off that I'm a die hard fan of Evanovich. I started the "PLUM" series this summer and have scrambled to get my hands on everything that she has written. I think all the books are enjoyable and sooooo funny! BUT, this one was my least favorite. Aside of Stephanie's on going battle with Joyce Barnhardt and Bob, the dog, poop episodes ... I didn't find as much humor in this book as I have in the her other books. Also, I didn't get enough of Morrelli in this book. I love the interaction between Joe and Stephanie. I would have like to have gotten more in this book. Now that I've said that, you have to know that, you will enjoy this book. There are all the great chartacters that thread from book one to seven. You will laugh and all though the book is not suspenseful you will find that this is a page turner.... When will Stephanie capture Eddie DeCooch? What does she have that everyone wants? Will she find Dougie and Mooner? AND, most of all will she marry Morelli or surcum to Ranger. It's a must read in the series!
Rating: Summary: Another hilarious book from Evanovich. Review: Come on! How can you resist the stories of the female bounty hunter from Jersey? This time Stephanie Plum is after old man Eddie DeChooch and you just can't believe his luck and the trouble he has gotten himself into! Mooner and Dougie are back, as is Lula, Connie, Vinny, Grandma Mazur, the two men in Stephanie's life - Ranger and Joe Morelli, and Bob the dog who eats everything and poops in Stephanie's arch enemy Joyce Barnhardt's yard. This series is hilarious from the characters to the situations they find themselves in. Its action, comedy and mystery all wrapped up in a bright cover. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Want to be Stephanie! Review: One of the things I love about these books are that Stephanie is not perfect, quite average looking, and not so talented. I can totally relate to this character! The other characters just add to the spice of her life. Janet Evanovich just develops each character more and more as the series continues and brings back the funniest and oddest people. I LOVE THESE BOOKS! In this book, the hijinks of Stephanie Plum continues as she is tracking down Eddie DeChooch. The names are so great! She gets herself in all kinds of trouble trying to follow an old guy. There's the tension between her and Ranger and the issues with her and Morelli. It's another great addition to the series. Oh, and did I mention that I LOVE THESE BOOKS?
Rating: Summary: We're Lucky Review: We are lucky to have somebody like Janet Evanovich writing books like this. This book was the first I read of the Stephanie Plum series and I am much looking forward to reading the other seven. The rest of my year's reading is probably allocated by virtue of this wonderful series of books. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the book may be borderline too fictional in places. Beyond that, you feel as though this book is about the chapter in YOUR family history that has been better left unprinted. It should be impossible for somebody to read this book and not pull for Stephanie Plum. She's everybody's little sister and the wild kid that exists in all of us--man and woman alike.
Rating: Summary: Uh oh here comes Stephanie again... Review: Watch out Trenton NJ, Stephanie Plum is back and this time she out for even more laughs then she's given us before. This time Stephanie is after an old man who is hard of hearing, doesn't see well and has many other problems then Stephanie wants to know about. Eddie DeChooch is one tough old man who is doesn't want to go to jail and will do anything to keep Stephanie from taking him there. When Stephanie gets this case she thinks it will be easy, just pick up the old guy and bring him in, but it isn't so easy for her. Well not when you have Dougie and Mooner following you around and not to mention Eddie's best pals Benny and Ziggy following Stephanie around. As the time goes on and Stephanie is finding it harder to bring in Eddie she decides to give Ranger a call and see if maybe he can help her find him, well Ranger promises Stephanie he will help, but only if she promises to spend one evening with him. Stephanie is in a bind with that one because everyone in Trenton thinks that she is marrying Morelli. When Stephanie finally does start piecing together information on how to get Eddie into jail she starts to find herself in trouble. She finds herself chasing after people she should be chasing after. Overall this story was great, the usual charactors were back. Grandma Mazur, Mom, Dad, Joyce, Lula, Connie and now Stephanie's older sister Valerie is back and she has changed. I can't wait to read the next book in this series, Stephanie Plum keeps me laughing and wanting to stay up later then usual just to finish the books.
Rating: Summary: Not Quite up to Par with Other Steph Plum Stories: Review: For some reason, I could not get as enthusiastic about number eight as I have about the other seven. It was a good story, but Stephanie seemed different in this one. She seemed more mature and not as happy-go-lucky, which dampened the story for me. All the characters seemed more subdued, and it is the outrageousness of them that has made the Stephanie Plum Series so enjoyable and such fun to read. I am still glad that I read it, I would not have missed it for the world, but I was a bit disappointed. However, even on her worst day, Janet Evanovich could not write a "bad" book! I am still looking forward with enthusiasm to numbers 9, 10, 11, 12, etc. I am not sure that bringing Valerie into the mix has helped the story lines. I can't exactly put my finger on the reason, but she doesn't do much for the stories, as far as I am concerned. I am sure someone else may feel differently, after all, it is a matter of opinion only and what turns me off may be just the aspect that pleases someone else. I think the cooling off of the romance betweeen Stephanie and Joe had a lot to do with the mood that Stephanie is in this volume also. She doesn't seem as happy, her mood is darker. But hey, life is not always a bed of roses, so maybe in the next book, something will happen to make Steph happy and gung ho again! I don't think that I like her being torn between Joe and Ranger either, being in a situation like that is enough to drag any of us down, I suppose. But that's just me. It is a stressful situation for a woman to be in love with two men, and so torn between them, and it makes me uneasy to even read about it! Anyway, I am glad that I read the book, and in a way it makes Stephanie more human, more real, because, as we all know, life has a way of throwing some curves at all of us occasionally, some gloom for everyone at times. One other thing that bothered me a bit was the fact that in volume 7, Mrs. Plum, Steph's mother, had decided to get out of the kitchen for a little while and take some classes to try for a nursing career, and then, it was not even mentioned again in this last one. I wish it had been explained in some way, not just dropped with no explanation. I don't care if she goes back to school or not, but I would have liked for it to be worked into the story and some reason given as to why she did not go through with it. I must admit that I did not laugh as much while reading this one but my advice is to read it anyway so you will know what Stephanie is having to deal with and work through in the next volume! I'm still looking forward to number 9!
Rating: Summary: Could've had a V8 Review: I am a die hard Stephanie Plum fan, but this book has to be one of the most boring of the series. It's the only one that I was able to put down and not have the urge to pick back up for about a week. The ending was a cliff hanger, and was the best part of the whole book.
Rating: Summary: Great read - hilarious! Review: I read some of the other reviews for this book, and I couldn't believe it! Maybe I am easily entertained, but I thought Seven-Up was hilarious. I've enjoyed all of Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels. True, it's not a "serious crime novel"...it is a fun, light read.
