Summary: Murder in the wine country
Review: As usual, Earlene Fowler delivers a very intriguing and readable mystery. Her stepson is engaged to his pregnant girlfriend who is a member of a prominent local family. At a family get-together to announce the engagement, one of the girl's cousins is killed. Since her son is about to marry into this family, it becomes awkward for Benni and her police chief husband, Gabe, to investigate a murder which appears to have been committed by a family member. I did not give this book a 5-star rating because some of the best characters, i.e., Gabe and Dove, are given minor parts. Gabe is often with his ex-wife, hashing out their son's problems and he and Benni do not have their usual dialogues filled with tension and resolution. Dove plays a very small part in this book and I missed her down-to-earth presence. Also, the revelation about the murder is a rather sobering one. Still, it's worthwhile reading.

Summary: Excellent Read
Review: Earlene Folwer does it again. Benni Harper and company is another winner. I bought this Friday evening and finished it Sunday morning. I highly recommend this series to all who enjoy cozies with interesting twists and good characters. Please keep them coming.

Summary: Better and Better
Review: Earlene Fowler delivers yet another satisfying Benni Harper mystery in "Seven Sisters." Her ability to explore the often tangled relationships of extended families is what keeps me coming back for more. She doesn't shy away from the complexities of human relationships; whether friends or lovers, parents or siblings, saucy seniors or struggling young adults, Fowler has a keen sense of the human heart. It makes her plots believable, especially this heart-wrenching look at the myriad manifestations of the relationship between mother and child. Fowler, like many of the best writers in this field, goes beyond the genre to give us more than a "Whodunit." I look forward to more, as I look forward to Fowler being recognized soon for her exceptional writing.

Summary: Seven Sisters
Review: Earlene Fowler did it again-Seven Sisters is a hit! I enjoyed the reunion with several characters from earlier in the series-like D-Daddy. Earlene has a magic feel for just when to add a new character or revisit the old ones. I never get bored. Benni Harper is so easy to get to know. It is no wonder that clues fall into her lap-folks just want to share their lives with her. I enjoyed sharing a late evening with Benni myself, as I couldn't put down this book.

Summary: Shines like the constellation it's named for
Review: Earlene Fowler's books just keep getting better and better! I don't know why she doesn't win that Agatha Award that she's been nominated for so many times. Maybe the voting is fixed. Anyway, I thought Mariner's Compass--her previous book--was hard to top, but I think Seven Sisters does it for a number of reasons. One is the plot. Benni's plate is really full in this one: Her stepson-in-law has knocked up his girlfriend--who of course works with Gabe. Gabe's ex comes to town to deal with the mess, and Gabe ends up spending FAR too much time with her--if I was Benni I would have kicked his behind! Gramma Dove is at her best, and I like that her relationship with Isaac continues in this book. That Detective Hudson is making definite moves on Benni. Hope he comes back, too. But what really captured me as a reader is the complexity of the crime in this book. Without revealing too much, let me say it's a fascinating subject, and Fowler handles it with deftness and surefootedness. I particularly love the end of this book, which leads me to believe we will hear about this quirky family again. Hurry up and write your next book, Ms. Fowler. And someday I hope you will try a mainstream novel. I think you would do great in a longer form.

Summary: Another wonderful Benni Harper Mystery
Review: Earlene Fowler's mysteries keep getting better and better. Seven Sisters is a wonderful story. I could not put the book down. The characters jump off the page as you read the book. Reading the Benni Harper books is as much fun as when I was a child reading Nancy Drew. The characters and stories are different of course, but the fun is the same! I also love to see what Ms. Fowler writes in each of her book's acknowledgments. She always gives credit where credit is due, and that is to our Lord, Jesus. He has given her a wonderful gift of story telling and she uses it to His glory!

Summary: Seven Sisters
Review: I always eagarly anticipate the next Bennie Harper Mystery and this one was worth waiting for!Earlene Fowler has a talent for coming up with intriging story lines. This one is no exeption. The background setting of race horse breeding and winery makes this great story line and takes you to where it is all happening. The characters and their relationships as always are what keeps me coming back for more!

Summary: Eureka!
Review: I just discovered Earlene Fowler and Benni Harper! Wow! Seven Sisters was so good that I'm backtracking now to read all her previous books. Fowler's characters are so unique. Nadine, the waitress, has to be my favorite. Fowler is able to give descriptions that put you right there and make you feel you know or have met all her characters at one time or another. Good suspense. Unique twists in the story. I'm reading my second book now and look forward to knowing Benni Harper really well.

Summary: Love her!!
Review: I love this series -- I am an unabashed fan. Even though I figured out the mystery very early on, I still enjoyed it very much.

This book is the rare mystery where the murderer never gets a legal comeuppance.
