Summary: Couldn't Put it Down!
Review: I loved Earlene Folwer's newest book. When you love an author's books you tend to expect a lot when a new one comes out and Earlene doesn't disappoint. Seven Sisters comes alive as you read it. One of the previous reviewers wrote something about Earlene writing a general fiction book -- I for one would love to see it! Earlene, if you're reading this, you have a life-long fan here!

Summary: Eureka!
Review: I purchased my first Benni Harper mystery on a shopping trip to a local bookstore. I quickly became totally engrossed with Benni Harper's life, and all the people that constitute her family and friends. Ms. Fowler's series is an excellent example of combining a good mystery with wonderful and interesting character development. Seven Sisters was the latest episode in Benni's adventures. My mother and I are anxiously awaiting the next episode. I also greatly enjoyed learning about the various quilt patterns that are part of each story. Avid mystery lovers should read the whole series, you certainly will not be disappointed.

Summary: Knowingly nit-picking
Review: I really like Earlene Fowler's books. I must say that to begin with. But there were a few things that grabbed me and still bother me. I know it's nit-picky, but I guess it hit too close to home for me. She said the Seven Sisters Ranch was charged a stud fee of $5000 because the horse was descended from Three Bars. About 80% of American Quarter Horses have Three Bars in their bloodlines, and they have to hve done something spectacular themselves to rate that kind of stud fee. The second thing she said Three Bars was the greatest quarter horse that ever lived. Three Bars was a Thoroughbred race horse. He happened to cross very well on Quarter Horse mares. I said I was nit-picking. I did want to wring Benni's neck over the way she let Gabe take off with the ex-wife and leave her in the lurch, but I'm not married. What do I know? I just raise horses!

Summary: Where's Gabe?
Review: I would recommend this author and this series to any mystery lover. I would have given this book 5 stars except for some changes that seemed to take place among the characters. While I enjoyed reading this book, I felt that it didn't mesh with some of the other books in the series. There was not as much interaction between the established characters in the series. I hope that future books in the series will return to the relationships we have come to know.

Summary: Don't miss it
Review: I've read the entire series. Loved them all.

Summary: Family life is complex especially when murders occur...
Review: If you enjoy the China Bayles series you should enjoy this series of mysteries written around the life of Benni Harper. The characters are well written, with depth. The mystery is involved, not easily determined. The supporting characters delightful. I especially liked how while the mystery is solved it is not cleanly resolved. Life is complex and not easily tied up into a neat package with a bow. Even though I had not read previous Bennie Harper stories, I did not feel I could not follow relationships set up in earlier stories. I will go back and read the first books in this series...two of my favorite passages from the book..."A hurt can soften you like a good, wool blanket, or, if you let it, turn you into a pile of dried leaves, ready to crumble at the first footstep." And I couldn't help but smile, being from the Texas legal community, at reading "I dated an attorney from Fort Worth once. Emphasis on the word once." smile...enjoy...

Summary: A real page-turner
Review: It seems that Earlene Fowler can't miss. Once again, she manages to turn out a book that I don't want to put down. My only complaint is that it's over too fast! And even though I finished Seven Sisters yesterday, I still find my mind wondering to the story and thinking about how I'd feel if I were Benni Harper. Earlene Fowler certainly has a way of writing that truly makes you feel that you are really there. I saw a comment in another review about the possibility of Earlene Fowler branching out into general fiction, and I have to agree that I'd welcome the chance to see what else she is capable of.
