Rating: Summary: The Gabe Ortiz Fan club Review: Okay, maybe this is a terrible way to review a book, but I have to say that Earlene Fowler has created a character that I know if he were real I would have a major crush on!! Gabe Ortiz! I am absolutely addicted to this series of books and I am not sure I can make it until the next one. But on a serious note I think the reason Seven Sisters and all of her books are so enjoyable is the character development. I wish Dove were MY grandmother and all these characters were part of my life.
Rating: Summary: A brilliant read Review: San Celina Police Chief Gabriel Ortiz is going to become a grandfather. Rookie police officer Bliss Girard became pregnant after making love with Gabriel's son Sam. Bliss is part of the close knit, prestigious and powerful ranching clan, the Browns. Gabe, Benni, and Sam are invited to the ranch to celebrate the upcoming nuptials. Also invited is Sam's beautiful mother. At the party, Benni senses an undercurrent of unease that ends with someone killing a Brown family member.Transplanted Texan Ford Hudson is assigned as the investigation officer. He expects civilian Benni to help him solve the case, but she resists the lure because Gabe hates her getting involved in a homicide case. Still Benni cannot help but start sleuthing, which places her in the line of fire. SEVEN SISTERS is a powerfully moving drama that will be award winning Earlene Fowler's breakout book if justice is served. Benni is shown in a different light than in her previous novels as she struggles with feelings of jealousy and inadequacy whenever Gabe's ex-wife appears. The competition between Hudson and Benni for top investigative dog is like a heavyweight title fight, this adding to the fun and the sense of knowing the star better. SEVEN SISTERS is much deeper and more complex than the previous Harper stories, earning it a special place on the keeper shelf that contains the other six books. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Best in the series so far. Review: Seven Sisters is another triumph for Earlene Fowler. I have read every book in the series and have enjoyed every one of them. She writes so well that it seems as if the reader were in the story listening to the characters' conversations. Everyone can relate to the family strife that goes on in the book. As usual Grandma Dove and Emory made me smile. I was also glad to see more of D-Daddy and other characters. I look forward to the next book.

Rating: Summary: Charming Cozy Review: Seven Sisters is the seventh title in Earlene Fowler's quilting mystery series. When Benni's stepmother says Benni is as stubborn as a roomful of Baptists, she isn't kidding. Expect to find a strong-minded, independent sleuth in a remarkable, fun series. Seven Sisters is the name of a quilting pattern, but it is also the name of a ranch known for breeding quarter horses and making wine. Benni's stepson breaks the news that he has been having an affair with someone from Seven Sisters. The result is a surprise pregnancy and a wedding announcement party. Benni has enough to deal with in her own life, but the cowboy detective named Hudson, who is in charge of the murder that occurs at the party, talks her and her quilting group into helping him solve the murder and the mystery surrounding it. Earlene Fowler has a great sense of humor in this mystery. The story line flowed well, and the characters were great, but I think I will only be satisfied with the ending results if it flows into a future Benni Harper mystery; Sure would be interesting if it did.
Rating: Summary: A bit different from the others Review: This book is different and has interesting complexities. There isn't the personal danger as much as in some of her books and I would have liked more of Gabe but the new characters were great, the old ones welcome returns and the ending not at all what you expect. I just hate waiting a year for her next one.
Rating: Summary: Definitely cozy! Review: This is a cozy mystery series to me. I sometimes regret my penchant for murder mysteries -- after all, murder is a dark subject. But Earlean Fowler's mysteries are different because the real mystery is not the who-dun-it on the surface. The real mystery in her books is why things happened the way they did, what motivated the people involved and what secrets lurk in the past. Any bets on whether our heroine gets pregnant soon?
Rating: Summary: --Old family secrets-- Review: This is the seventh book in the Benni Harper mystery series and takes place in San Celina, California. Benni Harper the curator of the local folk art museum and her husband Police Chief Gabe Ortiz seem to have worked out a lot of their earlier marital problems when Sam, Gabe's son tells them that his girlfriend Bliss is pregnant. Bliss, happens to be a member of the very wealthy and influential Brown family. Both families seem to rally around the young couple and even Gabe's beautiful ex-wife appears for the first time in this series. At a party celebrating Bliss and Sam's engagement, a Brown relative is found murdered. Benni tries not to become involved in the case, but is forced into helping by Ford Hudson the officer in charge of the homicide investigation. This interesting story is a little darker than the other mysteries that Benni had been involved with and takes us into the tangled web of old family secrets and the truth about the seven sisters.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL!!!!!!! Review: This was a wonderful book! I couldn't put it down. As with the previous Benni Harper novels, the mystery is very interesting but it is the characters in the book that keep me coming back for more. Earlene Folwer is a very talented writer who deserves to win that Agatha award this time around. I highly reccommend this book, along with the rest of the books in this series!!
Rating: Summary: Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Review: Very entertaining reading. After receiving the book in the mail I had to pace myself so I would not read the entire book in one sitting. Benni Harper is a steel magnolia. I'm glad Gabe came to his senses for he might have lost her to that crazy Texan. The one thing I felt the book lack was the amount of interaction with Gabe and Benni. Maybe I was hoping for just one more chapter.
