Rating: Summary: A Good Weekend Read Review: "Outbreak" grabbed my attention right away with the ebola story set in Africa. Dr. Cook knows his stuff and for a story written circa 1986-1987, I don't think it's too outdated. This is my first stab at one of Cook's books - I'd probably read more.
Rating: Summary: An exellent, spine tingling book. Review: A must read. Rating: 9. An awesome book. I wouldn't have ever suspected that Ralph Hemptson was in on it.
Rating: Summary: Horrible Review: Boring, horrible writing. Thats all there is to it. It is not worthwile at all.
Rating: Summary: Best book I have ever engaged in Review: Dr. Cook fulfills the readers every intent: facts, entrigue, passion and suspense. The best thing since sliced bread! I guarantee you'll never put this book down.
Rating: Summary: a disapointing book Review: I chose to read this book because I like suspense novels about deadly viruses and diseases. I thought this book lacked a lot. It had some bright spots but they did not last long. I figured out how the book was going to end after about the first 100 pages. I thought the plot was ridiculous and the pacing horrible. I will not recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: The spread of a disease is spread by a single little primate Review: I enjoyed reading this fiction book the parts I disliked werewhen they discribed the gross details of how the people who werecontaminated with the disease looked like. It is so unbelievable how a disease can spread so fast but the book clearly does describe how the disease quickly spreads from one town to another to another country even. The story of a city already infected by the disease shows how desparate doctors can be to keep medicine curable to the disease a secret just to see and test the effects the disease has on people. The book also gives you something to think about like in an event like this one where the lives of thousands and billions of lives are on the edge of disappearing which doctor can you really trust to cure you or contaminate you too. The book keeps you in suspense when the female doctor is on the edge of death and will she survive to help find the cure to save the world from this deadly disease which became an "Outbreak". When her and her partner finally realize the simple and only cure was in a simple glass of orange juice it makes you think they stressed for nothing and could have saved time instead of looking for the little monkey which started the whole spread of the disease.
Rating: Summary: outbreak review Review: I enjoyed the story very much. It had a lot of scientific content, but i would of enjoyed it better if there was an explination for some of the theories noted in the books. What made the story really exciting for me to read was the part when marrissa tried to elude the bad guys and in the end who she ended up with.
Rating: Summary: it was okay to read Review: I had it figured out by page 70, although I was surprised by one minor (very minor) plot twist at the very end. The book was written some time ago so it's a bit dated, but it was interesting enough to keep me reading.
Rating: Summary: OUTBREAK Review: I had to read this book for summer reading and usually the books on the list are boring but not Robin Cook's "Outbreak" I was so into it I couldn't put it down "Outbreak" was my first Robin Cook book that I ever read and because I liked it so much I read two others "Vital Signs" and "Toxin" which were just as good as "Outbreak". I am ther type of kid who doesn't like to read in her spare time but ever since I read "Outbreak" I've continued to read. I recomend this book to everyone who likes a good scary suspensful book It's great and so are all his others!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good "quick" read Review: I have a large collection of Cook's books that I have collected over a year or two. I've just had them sitting on the shelf trying to find the time to read one. I started with this book and I will have to read more. Given the time this book was written (1987 I think)it still has a good edge on it. If you saw the movie don't expect the book to be close. The story line is completly different. I enjoyed this book, and found it interesting from start to finish. It had some slow spots, but was overall a good easy read.
