Summary: Stinkie-Poo
Review: OUTBREAK is a badly written, badly plotted novel. After I read the book, I looked at the cover and first pages to see what the review excerpts said. All of them said, "Robin Cook is a suspense master." None of the quotes referred to OUTBREAK itself, I think because the publisher couldn't find any good reviews about the book. And I was appalled at how Cook didn't think the reader could figure out who the bad guy is. It is so transparent, as to be laughable! And last but not least, the book is horribly dated, in that doctors are the bad guys and HMO's are the good guys in it. As everyone knows now, HMO's are revealing themselves as more heartless than the mafia. Robin Cook has tried to rectify what he did in OUTBREAK by writing books since that show HMO's for the truly evil organizations they usually turn out to be. And I bought this book at a Robin Cook book signing, and had him sign it personally, so I was predisposed to like this book. But I sure didn't.

Summary: Outbreaks of a deadly diseas become a mystery.
Review: Outbreak is a o.k book. One thing I realy liked about it was that it realy explains how the people dealed with the diseas. It told how some of the people tha worked with it were puting their lifes in danger and how they were frightened. Another thing i liked was how at the end the action realy starts building up. What I didn't like about the book was that most of the action in the book hapens toward the end. All that happens was that Marissa goes back and forth to hospitals which made it boring. In all i realy don't think that it was a great book. I personally thought that it was boring. Yet I still recomend it because for people that like to read about deadly diseases and things like that I'm sure they will think it's a good book. But if you are looking for a great deal of action I don't recomend it. didn't like

Summary: My favorite Robin Cook novel
Review: Outbreak was the first Robin Cook novel I had ever read, and so far none of his other works can compare. He grabs your attention right at the beginning and there are surprises and turns all throughout the story. I also recommend Coma and Brain if you enjoyed Outbreak.

Summary: Guilty pleasure
Review: Reading Robin Cook novels is my secret shame. They are not especially well written and the plots are often similiar, but I'll stay up all night finishing one. This is one of his best.

Summary: Entertaining, but predictable
Review: Robin Cook does it again. This was actually the first of his books I had read, but I am free to say that as I am now familiar with more of his work. Does anyone else think that his stories are somewhat predictable?
Outbreak is an entertaining read, but it is so predictable. I knew who the informant of Marissa's activities was by the first quarter of the novel. The fact that Marissa didn't was a source of infinate agitation for me during this read. This woman is supposed to be intelligent, but she doesn't have a whit of common sense. Also, the bad guys are...dumb. No other description suits them except that they are incredibly stupid.
Another pet peeve of mine is Cook's prose...not exactly Shakespeare is it? Cook is a mediocre writer at BEST, and this is one of his better novels.
If you want a medical thriller that is a quick, easy read and is completely average, then Outbreak is for you.

Summary: A horrifying book, loaded with murder and medical disaster.
Review: Robin Cook outdoes himself with OUTBREAK!! A doctor named Marissa Blumenthal's first real assignment is a deadly plague, killing everything in its path. Murder, mystery, and medical shocks all rolled into one book. This is a must read!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This was absolutely a well written book. One of Cook's BEST!
Review: Robin Cook's Outbreak is spectacular. The story line really puts the reader on the edge. With it's untwisting plot, and piviting characters, it's amazing to see how a deadly virus sweeps the country. *****
