Summary: The Best book I have ever read
Review: I never thought it possible to "read a movie" until I read this book. I am not a super fast reader but I finished this thick book in a few days. It was absolutely the best book that I have ever read. Full of action.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This book was excellent. I don't care what all you other people say. I know Patrick and he is one of the smartest people I've ever met and I greatly enjoy all of his books! GO KETTLEERS!

Summary: No flair or pizazz.
Review: "Nimitz Class" has one of the best ideas behind it I've have heard about in a while: the terrorist nuclear attack on the "invincible" carrier battle group. The first part of the book dealing with the attack on the carrier is decent reading, but then the book nose-dives. The culprit behind the sinking of the carrier is discovered only about a third of the way through the book, with the only question being what country is backing him. Who cares? Hell, I'm writing this review only a week after reading it, and I can't remember who was backing him. This book was that dull. The ending just died, and like one reviewer stated, Robinson must have had somewhere he had to go, so he just wrapped it up really quickly. Oh well. The teaser chapter for Kilo Class doesn't look promising, either.

Summary: Trained monkeys could write better than this.
Review: Despite numerous misgivings, I would have to give this book two stars because I actually finished it. The author's bizarre fascination with Kansas should have set warning bells off in my head. Furthermore, the inane dialogue between the Iraqi (or was it Iranian?) sub ace and his half-witted First Officer was some of the most atrocious writing since Danielle Steele got her first typewriter. A word of advice to the journalist-turned-author: stick to writing horoscopes and obituaries.

Summary: Not realistic - contrived.
Review: I was struck by this younger officer who was the ONLY physicist in the U.S. to know that the sinking wasn't an accident. Didn't other physicists learn the same things in Nuclear Fission 101? In today's world, Good Morning America and Today would have trotted out their own pet nuclear experts the very next morning and theories would have been bouncing off TV satellites. Give me a break!! An admiral that shakes his fist in the air and exclaims "What a man!" (about the pres) The admiral was so juvenile that I began fearing for our national safety. The admiral's chief thrill in life was driving at 100+ MPH down the B/W Parkway. Anyone who drives the Parkway would be more than happy to see him busted---the Parkway is not a place for excessive speeds especially from such a low-level mind. The ending was even worse. Sorry I listened to the tape. Luckily I borrowed from the library and didn't buy.

Summary: Good reading, taut military suspense story!
Review: Robinson knows how to tell a war story. In a tight, Clancy-esque style, he takes us inside the investigation of an impossible-to-sink vessel's sinking. His characters are strong and believable, as are the situations he puts them in. A really good read, especially for fans of the Clancy genre.

Summary: The BEST Military book I have read.
Review: I strongly recommend this book to all military book lovers. Full of Non-stop action that leaves the reader on the edge of their seat until the last page. Never a dull moment. It was a real page turner. I Can't wait to read the sequal.

Summary: Maybe Robinson had a wedding to get to
Review: Well what can I say, as far as technical aspects of the book it really does shine, it gives your hard-core Navy fanatic exactly what they want, a good, pluasible, Hunt for Red October like story with plenty of technical explanations and information they can use to impress thier friends (well, maybe not thier friends...) The problem is you can tell Patrick Robinson took a lot of time thinking the book through, such as the aftermath of the Jefferson's destruction, and the political aspect of it. But in the very end, it just seemed to me that everything ended far too quickly, the submarine fight in the end was totally different from any other naval part of the book, it wasn't well described and it was finished before it even started. It also felt something like this book was an advertisment for the Royal Navy, much like Clancy's Red October was an advertisment for the U.S. Navy. Otherwise it's a good book.

Summary: Dragged out and boring at times
Review: Although the author punctuates his story with a few paragraphs of action and suspense, for the most part the book begs to be put down. I found that I really looked forward to the book ending, and became upset when I found that the main character still had alot to do before his mission was complete. The ending was dissappointing and obvious. The book is not really worth the paper its printed on..

Summary: This book was excellent up to the finish
Review: This book was great; the way Robinson keeps you in suspence up until the end is a mastery of writing. This book really keeps you interested until the very end. Although, there were a few subjects in the book that I would have liked to seen followed up on, and the ending was not as spetacular as I had imagned; overall it was a very good book.
