Summary: Hell's Angels: The life and times of Sonny Barger.
Review: Pretty great read. Went fast and full of action. Sonny has had a pretty good life so far. It's nice to see a book about bikers that is not written with law enforcement imput. If you are at all interested in the Hell's Angels this is the book to start with. Sonny is candid with his past and he does have a past.

Summary: This Man's Life is Amazing
Review: In rebuttal of the other "review" on here from Fall River MA, I'd like to say that you probably didn't have any business buying this book in the first place. Anyone who is or has been a biker will understand it all. Others are just being nosy or curious about it. That still doesn't give them the right to judge or give a bad review. They just don't have a clue of what brotherhood means. I thought the book told it just like it happened. Why sugar-coat anything just to make it sound better? I'd rather have mine straight up, on the rocks. Good Job Sonny!! I'm hoping there will be a Part 2 in the future!!

Summary: Shallow
Review: If you knew little about the HA before reading this book, you'll not know much more by the time you are done. Mr. Barger doesn't want to tell much or there isn't much to tell. Book is poorly organized and regularly jumps around 30 year spans of time without any connection. Mr. Barger is clearly a legend in his own mind. Basically a book about a bunch of kids who never grew up and never accomplished anything. Don't repeat my mistake by buying the book believing they were anything more than that.

Summary: Quick reading book
Review: This book was a page turner and moves quickly. Sonny tells it like it was and is. If you want to know about the Hells Angels and what they have done this is the book to start with.

Summary: A TRUE BIKER
Review: "SONNY" TELLS IT AS IT IS BEING A 1% BIKER... HAPPENS TO BIKERS IT DOSN'T MATTER WHAT SIDE OF THE POND YOU LIVE. EVEN IN ENGLAND I'VE BEEN SPAT AT BY CAR DRIVERS.

Summary: Like him or hate him, Sonny Barger is an American Icon !
Review: I read this book in less than a day. Suffice to say that I liked it. You don’t have to agree with Sonny Barger’s deeds and lifestyle to have an interest in what made Sonny and the Hell’s Angels what they were or are.

Those who have reviewed this book, and seemed unable to gain any such insights, probably expect all of life’s lessons to be easy to understand and clearly written in two syllable words.

I’ve read many Biographies and Autobiographies and most have revealed a “Something Special” about those books notable subjects. Without question Sonny has something that makes people follow him.

I’m not a “Biker” and was never enough of a “follower” to be interested in that sort of membership, but I had the opportunity to see Sunny Barger at the NH Biker Week event at Weir’s Beach. Though now in his sixties and not able to speak well (at least in a crowd) due to the residual effects of throat cancer surgery, Sunny is still clearly revered by Biker Club Members and Aficionado’s alike!

Some of what Sunny has stood for I despise, and some of what he has stood for I greatly admire. In any event, Sunny has significance in American history and I found the book interesting in that regard.

Summary: There Was Awe At One Time
Review: This is the first book review I've written where I had to think twice about the repercussions of a negative review. For the most part it was interesting to trace the beginning of the most identifiable motorcycle gang and its most notorious member, Ralph Barger. Growing up in California's Central Valley, I remember the warnings from parents to stay away from Bass Lake while the Hell's Angels took over the campgrounds. Then, while attending college in the South Bay, the presence of the Hell's Angels conjured up fear at the same time as awe. They were even the subject of some lectures in a Deviant Behavior sociology class. This book does nothing to change my opinion about them although it was interesting to read how important it was to uphold the image of being cool and tough, even if it meant sleeping on the ground without a sleeping bag or almost dying rather than go to a doctor. I was mildly disappointed (but not surprised) with the ending. For some reason I thought there would be a summary of lessons learned from a "bike elder", made wise through the years of violence and self-indulgence; the realization that breaking the law and doing time prevents a biker from doing what he professes to love - riding his motorcycle; or gratitude to the "squares", the doctors who operated on him for 8 1/2 hours to save his life. I guess that's too much to expect from a person who sees the world as revolving around him and has only learned to take. Too bad, there was some admiration and awe... at one time.

Summary: Just Terrible...
Review: I was really excited about reading this book, you just have to love the premise. Bad Guys, Motorcycles, Biker Girls, etc. Too bad that Mr. Barger takes a topic so interesting and leaves you with so little. For example, he was at Altamont on the day of the Rolling Stones concert. He tells the story, and adds no isight as to why it happened. The book also tells story after story without any transition or any depth at all. You keep waiting for him to bring all of it together and it never happens. It is like you have an annoying relative over and they keep talking and talking and never get to the point. Please save your money. There are so many better books.

Summary: Real Biker Honesty
Review: Great book! Sonny Barger, in true biker style, has told the truth about club life. Being straight forward is a large part of what it is to be a clubber, (there is a BIG difference between being a biker and a clubber, man that patch gets real heavy at times).

I've never met Sonny, but I don't have to, I know him and what he stands for, real freedom. Hell, in my opinion there ain't but two classes of people living in America that are really free, and that's real Cowboys and real Bikers. They don't cower down to the MAN. Big brother can say and do what ever they want, but they will never ever take away the stick it in your face or up your @##* attitude of the clubbers. That is what this book was all about to me.

For me it was easy to read, but I did skip around a lot. Hey, the chapter titles caused it! Looking forward to an encore.

Ride on Sonny!

Summary: Disjointed
Review: The stories were goood but they weren't well-written. But it was funny how all the time they were in jail during a trial how misinformed the law was and how they kept trying to fabricate these conspiracies and could never do it.
