Summary: Interviews by Clinton Officials Give Book Unique Power
Review: What is left out of the hysterical rebuttals by people who have obviously NOT read the book, are the interviews with Clinton officials like National Security Advisor Sandy Burger, Clinton CIA chief James Woolsey, and Clinton Counterterrorism Czar Richard Clarke. Funny how lefties like to romanticize anyone who opposes the US, and blame them on us-- except if a Democrat administration was involved.(Also, Glen, the CIA did not train bin Laden, he was not an Afghan (note spelling) but a Saudi latecomer, and was never a folk hero to the Afghan people, but a resented interloper forced upon them.)

Clarke is especially damning, relating instances where "Madame Secretary" Albright helped quash counterstrikes against Al Queda, wanting the kind of evidence to bring it to a court! (Read her book, she admits it, and is PROUD of it!)

Miniter does an admirable job of showing the dangers of treating this as a specific criminal justice problem with evidentiary procedures, and only going after specific culprits instead of all terrorists with international reach. This is a war, Clinton did not treat it as such, and Miniter proves that.

Summary: The World's Lone SuperPower Brought to Its Knees.
Review: As I read this book, I kept hoping Bill Clinton would "get" bin Laden the next chance he got in the book. You get so absorbed into the world created by the book that you almost forget that we already know Bill Clinton will never "get" bin Laden.

I was more sad than angry when I finished the book. It's terrible living in the 9-11 world. What it did to our sense of security, to our economy, and our place in the world. It so dominates our lives in small and large ways, and even our minds, that it is tragic to think that the World's Lone SuperPower could be brought to this point.

If only Bill Clinton had either arrested or killed bin Laden before 9-11, bin Laden would have gone down in history as a two-bit terrorist. But instead, our national security wounds were left untreated and we ended up with terrorist gangrene. It's just all very sad that a great nation that could defeat the Soviet Union, with all their missiles, subs and tanks, would be so weak in dealing with someone who started out much much weaker than he is now. Every time the Clinton Administration let bin Laden get away, he grew in prestige and power in the terrorist world. A monster was truly created.

I think even historians years from now will judge the Clinton Administration very harshly for what was left undone during their eight years.

Summary: Worthless Propaganda, Lies and Half Truths
Review: I find it interesting that someone could write a book about Bin Laden yet fail to explore how the CIA under Reagan trained him, funded him and helped build his camps in Afganistan. Then of course the author also forgot to mention Daddy Bush's abandonment of Afganistan and how it led to the rise of the Taliban and allowed Bin Laden to become a folk hero to the Afgan people. Just another piece of right wing drivel making a feeble attempt to blame Clinton for not cleaning up their mess.

Summary: Truth Hurts
Review: Hope is not a plan. Islamic terrosists attacked the united States 4 different times during the CLinton Administration. While he and Clark were waging a War in Kosavo that they admit had no benefit to America, terrorists were allowed to Attack us unchecked.

Clinton ccared so little about the 1st world trade center bombing he never even visited. Neither did his wife who would later become a NY senator and NOT attend 1 victim of 9-11's funeral. The Governor and Fromer mayor Gulliani attened many.

The Only time CLinton Claimed to fight terrorism, was on the eve of his impeachment, and that was an Unjustified, unprovoked and illegal attack on an Asprin factory in the Sudan. Clinton had falsifed "evidence" claiming it was a Chemical weapons facility. The Funny thing here is, the Sudan offered Bin LAden to CLinton twice. THEY were never our enemies, untill Clinton had them our enemies in order to save his political career here. Sorta like the Serbs, who NEVER did anything to us.

Summary: When You Can't Govern, Blame Clinton
Review: No matter what name this book goes by, no matter who writes it, no matter what publisher ends up getting stuck with it, right-wing angels will be sure to buy it in bulk a la Ann Coulter's TREASON and assure it a place on the NY TIMES bestseller list.

Whenever the Right feels compelled to shift the blame for their inadequacies, failures, and crimes, Bill Clinton is their number one scapegoat. Wasn't the US economy great in the 90's? Strangely enough, Reagan's 80's tax cuts -- which took us STRAIGHT into the biggest deficits ever -- get all the credit from the right wingers. George W. Bush's surplus-depleting tax cuts ruined the US economy, and Clinton's bold, successful, and progressive economic policies -- which resulted in the longest continuing peacetime growth of the economy in history -- inexplicably catch the blame.

So is it any wonder that the criminally incompetent and mendacious Bush administration -- after wrecking the economy (in the same cavalier fashion that former Governor Bush wrecked Texas' economy), dismantling longstanding environmental protections, giving massive tax cuts only to himself and his family and all their friends and to anyone else who's made or inherited a fortune, tearing up the Bill of Rights, and making the USA the world's most loathed nation of the 21st century -- fails to protect its citizens from the terrorist acts IT KNEW WERE COMING? And that Bush then wraps himself in this tragedy to protect himself, to avoid taking any responsibility for his CRIMINAL negligence of our security -- and lays the blame for it at Clinton's doorstep? Bush hasn't much brain but loads of gall.

Books like this exist not to present facts but to part fools from their money. David Brock proved with his bestseller THE REAL ANITA HILL (and his former friend Ann Coulter with every book she's written) that the right wing won't spend a dime on the truth, but they'll happily throw their money at any printed lie that smears their enemies.

I read once where the most popular book titles among the right wingers are about golf, Nazi Germany, and cats. If Miniter had wanted this book truly to succeed with his right-wing audience, he should have titled it GOLFING FOR BILL CLINTON'S CAT and put a big swastika on the cover.

Summary: How we got to Sept 11
Review: Minter's book does a valuable service in showing the mistakes that were made by the Clinton White House. Those who object to the author's partisan spirit should take note of the fact that it was Clinton's staff who provided Miniter with much of his background info. Clinton's failure to act was critcized even at the time. Let's take a last look backward and see what we did wrong last time and what we could do differently next time.
In addition, pick up a copy of Onward Muslim Soldiers by Robert Spencer. He takes us inside the minds and world of Islamic terrorists around the world. Between these two books, we may avoid another horrendous attack on American soil,

Summary: More right wing fantasy
Review: Even Jay Leno has all but given up on Clinton bashing. Bush got us into a war based on lies, and even worse he did it without an exit strategy. We can't find bin Laden, we can't find Saddam, we can't find WMD, what should we do? Hey, here's an original thought; let's blame Clinton. What a waste of money. Let's look at how Reagan and Bush 1 supplied bin Laden with stingers and other help in their fight against Russia if we really want to track the origin of this mess. Sure Clinton had problems with this area of the world; he inherited it from 12 years of Reagan/Bush, duh. Save your money; the only people who will buy this book are right-wing fools who want their flights of fantasy confirmed by an author all too ready to cash in on their pathetic need for validation.

Summary: Ignores all inconvenient facts in favor of finger-pointing
Review: I think it's hilarious to see the neocons who have gleefully awarded this book five stars and gushed about how wonderful it is, merely because it gives them an excuse to keep right on truckin' down the "WAAAAAAH! I HATE BILL CLINTON" road. And never mind those inconvenient facts, which don't appear in this book:

Osama Bin Laden was a product of the REAGAN and BUSH administrations. Yes, kiddies, he was funded and propped up by these GOP Presidents, who for some reason avoided their share of the blame in Miniter's slanted propaganda. Clinton was blamed for not catching the monster created and set in motion by Reagan and Bush.

Clinton DID take measures against Bin Laden for which the Republicans castigated him, shrieking he was trying to "wag the dog" to get the spotlight off the Monica Lewinsky "scandal" they had so deliberately exposed. One might well argue that if the GOP hadn't wasted this country's time with a lot of biased and moronic sniveling about Clinton's sex life more important matters could have been focused upon.

George W. Bush was in office for eight months before September 11th, was given warnings beforehand that a terrorist attack was imminent, and did NOTHING to prevent it. In fact, he made damn sure he wasn't going to be interrupted from taking his month-long vacation that August, since that took priority over protecting the country. Republicans talk a good talk about "taking responsibility" when they're pointing fingers at everyone else (which is they usual tactic) but that's all it is - talk. When it comes time to take responsibility they just bellow about Clinton. Bush was in power on September 11th and had been for months. He didn't prevent Bin Laden's attack then and he hasn't done a thing to apprehend him now. In fact, he's guaranteeing generations of Bin Ladens to come thanks to his bumbling antics in the Middle East.

But when the next terrorist attack happens - whether it's this year or ten years down the road - one can be sure the whining neocons will immediately hop up on the soapbox to point fingers at Bill Clinton, who left office years ago. It's time for you people to let go of Clinton and move on. As they said after the Florida election theft of 2000, "GET OVER IT!"

Summary: Remarkable Book. Nation Must Learn From Clinton's Mistakes
Review: This is a remarkably well-written, well-researched, and well-documented book about the Clinton Administration's failures that contributed to 9-11. The book includes the comments of many senior Clinton officials on their actions, or non-actions, regarding bin Laden during Clinton's eight years in office.

Those who are fervid Clinton supporters are going to attack this book with everything they can muster. But I hope most will read this book, examine the evidence, and make up their own minds.

It is vital that we face and learn from Bill Clinton's mistake in order to better protect our nation now and into the future. We are still at war after all.

Summary: No one man. No one party. Shameful politics here
Review: The problem with the basic premise of this book is George Bush was president for 8 months before 9-11. If it so crystal clear to blame Clinton, why weren't matters addressed with the new administration? Further, if UBL were such an easy target why hasn't W nabbed him in the last 2 years? Answer: Because it wasn't easy then, and it ain't easy now.

As 'don't bother me with the facts' becomes more and more the right's mantra, these authors should be ashamed of themselves for their expoliting the tragedy to further their agenda.

No one man, no one party, is to be blamed for our nation's most tragic day. Hopefully, the grown-ups will retake the debate soon on both politcal sides.
