Rating: Summary: Poignant and Timely Review: It is interesting to know that this book was written in the 70's. Dr. Cress-Wesling's theory is timely during the period we are living in today. Yes a bit extreme, however, extreme seems to be the theme of the African American Culture, both in the past and present.
Rating: Summary: Hopeless anti-White racism Review: A book pandering to the prejudiced mind. If a white person wrote a book denouncing all blacks one can only imagine the fuss - the hypocrisy stinks. I love the way reviewers embarrass themselves here - "you can denounce this book but its true". says who? On what basis? Simply put, this book is another specimen from the afrocentric genre of feel-good nonsense - very poor.
Rating: Summary: Laughable Review: A sad indictment of how low a certain segment of America's population will go to feel good about themselves - even if its at the expense of others. The argument of the book is so full of holes its a joke. For example, if "white supremacy" explains every problem for Afro-Americans, then one might easily turn this around and argue the equally ridiculous thesis that its "black inferiority" to blame! As another reviewer writes, the book's emphasis on melanin is bizarre and leads to a most ridiculous line of argument: Welsing's claim that the Spanish had black blood then means that blacks colonised and wrecked the America's - transforming them from victims (and the victim mentality reeks from the book) into perpetrators of great evil! But of course, this would then give power and prestige to a community usually at the bottom of the social heap - therby in some weird and perverted way making this group not victims but champions. Its this kind of ridiculous argument that Welsing puts forward. I am shocked to see people cheering such inanities on - says loads about their lack of self-esteem I fear. Puzzled as to why Welsing didn't include her usual "speciality" of writing about the size of male genital organs however!
Rating: Summary: A bit frustrating, nevertheless she has a valid point. Review: I do not support all that Cress Welsing says, but plainly, she urges people to question the existing systems and as a black person to be critical and observant. She does go to extremes which ultimately creates paranoia.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ FOR AFRICAN PEOPLE, LOOKING FOR ANSWERS. Review: DR. WELSINGS BOOK DEALS WITH THE CONCEPT OF WHITE SUPREMACY HEAD ON. YOU CAN DENOUNCE IT ALL YOU WANT, BUT HER FINDINGS OUR TRUE, AND IF IT'S NOT THEN YOU GIVE ME YOUR EXPLANATON FOR THE PROBLEM OF RACE IN THIS SOCIETY AND AROUND THE WORLD. IT WILL ALWAYS LEAD BACK TO THE ISSUE OF WHITE SUPREMACY, AND WESTERN VALUES, AND CULTURE. ANOTHER GOOD BOOK TO READ THAT WAS NOT MENTION, IS "THE PSYCHOPATHIC RACIAL PERSONALITY AND OTHER ESSAYS, BY DR. BOBBY E. WRIGHT. "PEACE".
Rating: Summary: The Book To Take to A Desert Island... Review: The "what" of racism is *always* discussed. Dr. Welsing talks about the *why*...the defensiveness of whites reacting to The Isis Papers is the single proof that her theories about white supremacy are true. A must read book that would have to be with me if stranded on a desert island along with Marimba Ani's _Yurugu_ and Toni Morrison's _Beloved_...read it and read it again!
Rating: Summary: Excellent....a must read Review: one of the best books i've read. a masterpiece by a master scientist. only time will reveal the true genius of the writer
Rating: Summary: scary to think that people actually take this seriously Review: if society doesn't start standing up to people like this author, then we are destined to repeat the horrors of earlier this century all over again. Haven't we as a world been through enough? c'mon now, any sensible person knows that this is the work of a frustrated, angry woman with thwarted views. I'm reminded of the saying, (or something close to it) alot of knowledge and education can help you go far, but a little education and ALOT OF IMAGINATION can make a person go NUTS!!
Rating: Summary: twisted in every way Review: one thing I've wanted to know is why do Afrocentric people follow the belief that one drop of sub-sahran blood makes a person black only when the group has done something (alegedly) "positive"? If the Moors of Spain were negroids as the author of this book claims, and that they are responsible for making the Spainards of Southern Spain darker, then, by the authors logic, the Spanish who comited those terrible autrocitys in South America were actually BLACK men, and the Indians of South America should hold BLACKS accountable, and no one else. This, among other things, helps make the authors views extremely laughable.
Rating: Summary: The Isis Papers is a good reading source. Review: I feel that the Isis Papers can be a good reading source for all African American and White Americans. So maybe then they can identify their problem.
