Summary: Better than "What Not to Wear"! Here's why:
Review: 1. No funky-looking women hamming it up in outdated clothes. In fact, all clothing photos feature no people so you can focus on the clothes!
2. Specific answers to problem bodies (i.e., what kind of every article to wear based on your body's characteristics--big butt, pear-shaped, slim-hipped, short, love handles, etc.).
3. A slough of clothing combinations (even underwear!) to fit any budget or taste: Take a summer dress, for example, and show it with various accessories to make it appropriate for any occasion or attitude. Includes both modern and classic items.
4. Common-sense suggestions on what to look for in terms of fit, and what to spend or not spend your clothing dollar on!
5. Places to get all the great clothes featured.
6. Care tips for clothing.
7. Has "what not to wear" type suggestions that are dead-on and not at all snippy or incredulous.
8. Love the high-quality color images and almost total lack of text--who needs it?

Complaints:
1. Nothing to help athletic or tall builds.
2. No info about care of fur (and storage facilities are the top issue in this category!).

Summary: finally!!!!
Review: A book that not only shows you what not to wear and what to wear with what, but also addresses fabrics, color, design and manufacturing. I really love it and have put together many outfits in my closet that I didn't know I had. I also made a list of things to buy so that the next time I am in the store I will not make the same mistake of buying something and then wonder what I am supposed to wear with it. Now I know what I am missing and can focus. I imagine if I buy a mere 3 more basic pieces I will be able to pull togther another 10 outfits with what I already have. Also, the book made me realize that I buy clothes that are too big and now I know how my clothes are supposed to fit.

Summary: Small enough to take shopping...
Review: As previous readers have mentioned, this is the best shopping manual out there! It's amazing how much time I save by just following the shopping rules and guidelines. I don't have much time to shop anymore (mother of an 11 month old) so I need all the shortcuts I can get. Plus I like to do a lot of thrift shopping where the styles aren't always so cut and dry. The Lucky book is great. I also bought the In Style book but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Although skimmed though it and was very please with what I saw. I recommend these books for everyone!

Summary: The new Fashion Bible !
Review: Before this book came along i bought a few other books on wardrobe selection and fashion. But of all the books i have bought this one is definately going to be my "fashion bible". The book has defined everyday fashion so effortlessly and simplified it for the common woman. I liked the book so much that i went out and bought three more copies to give to a few of my friends, hoping this book will revolutionise the way the look at their closet. 5 thumbs up to this book and i recommend it to anyone who wants to bring out the fashion Diva in them.

Summary: Sincerity in a Field of Cut-Throat Competition
Review: Clarity, sincerity and expertise. This book struck a chord with me. Isolating the clothes from the models wearing them was brilliant. Focussing on individual pieces, and how they would look different in combination with other pieces and accessories, seemed to me to get to the core of what one is looking for in a shopping manual. In contrast, my reaction to another recent book on the subject, 'In-Style Secrets of Style' was, 'Of course Nicole Kidman looks wonderful in everything, but is this relevant to the woman on the street?'

Bravo authors of the 'Lucky Shopping Manual'. A wonderful inspirational guide produced by intelligent, sensitive experts who seemed to sincerely wish to help the many women who are perplexed by this highly emotional, expensive, exploited subject. You won't be disappointed. I bought copies for my daughters, niece and sister.

Summary: everyone needs a refresher
Review: even though i have a firm grasp of my style, this book helps put staples into a more trendy wardrode without a matroney look. if you compare the instyle's secrets of style(which i also have) you'll find that lucky covers clothes for every woman not just stars who have access to courture designers. lucky showcases clothes to fit all sizes and shapes of real women. this book is great on starting and tailoring a wardrode however they should put up a sequal on adding on more color, making color choices and trends.

Summary: Loved this book
Review: Fun to read and very informative. I read it cover to cover and still am constantly refering back to this book. Lots of "real" women with fun, wearable, hip looks. Very insightful on how to look great without looking like your are trying to hard. Great tips for everyday looks and items, like finding the right jeans for your body type.

Summary: Great Book for Getting Closet in Order
Review: I absolutely love this book. I was getting overwhelmed with my closet. Too many things I did not love or make me feel great when I wore them. I read this entire book in two days and learned a ton. It is very informative and has lots of pictures. My favorite part is where is tells you what you need of each type of clothing (pants, jackets, skirts, etc) that you need in your closet to be completely covered. This was instrumental to me when I went back to my closet to pare it down. I found pieces that matched what they said was essential and made sure they fit correctly. I then felt more free to let go of all the extras that weren't a good fit or style. Thus, leaving me with just enough to keep me clothed, but not all this baggage that took up valuable closet space. I loved that it was in sections by pieces. The only thing that I wish it had was a section on shorts. I live in Texas and summers can see days of 108+, so shorts are a staple in my wardrobe. Otherwise, this book is the best fashion style guide out there and I recommend it to anyone looking to give their wardrobe and style a one-over.

Summary: Very cute handbook that's well organized.
Review: I bought this book out of impulse. Like many things bought on impulse, as soon as I ordered it I thought I'd regret it. I thought that it would be full of clothes that I'd never be able to afford. I also thought it would contain the latest trends, thus ensuring the need for a second edition in three months. Well I was mostly wrong.

What I got was a really well organized suggestion book about colours, body types and how to not buy extraneous apparel. It breaks itself into categories such as "buidling a coat closet", or "building a shoe closet". It lists the essentials and shows you how to optimize on styles and colours. That way you'll have multi-function and multi-seasonal articles, that won't break your budget. Sure they show pictures of some expensive items, but you're job is to shop responsibly within your budget.

So buy this book for the tips, if not for the pictures and styling alone. My only problem was the high proportion of pointy-toed, pointy-healed shoes. This trend might fade sooner or later, thus proving that this book isn't a bible of fashion... but merely a suggestion book.

i am a huge fan of the magazine, so i may be a little biased, but i really think this book is fabulous. it is so well put together and tons of fun to read... i never realized how many different things i could do with all the clothes that have been sitting in my closet for ages... so much fun!! i honestly feel like my wardrobe has been revamped. great for struggling grad students like myself who are trying to make the most of what they already own...
