Rating: Summary: Typical one-sided convervative hypocrisy. Review: Why is is right-wingers are so quick to ridicule (i.e. silence) Hollywood "libruls" they dislike, yet cheer the political activism of the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Charlton Heston? If Dennis Miller runs for California Senate on the GOP ticket will Ingraham tell him to shut up too? Or will he be a beknighted "outsider" with the right stuff to beat the crap out of Barbara Streisand...I mean Boxer.
Rating: Summary: A diplomatic solution to our ideological wars Review: Let the pundits scream, let the intellectuals hem and haw, but I say, this book is to be commended for seeing human beings for who they are, as real, feeling creatures with their own viewpoints and experiences, without demonizing them or turning them into cartoons. As the author attests, it's a proven fact: there is a coterie of completely evil gremlins out to destroy the United States and enslave it under the vicious domination of a vast team of hellhounds sent by the devil to destroy all that is good and pure in the world. Some of the so-called "people" who are part of this team: clearly Barbra Streisand, Ann Richards, Michael Dukakis, Arthur Schlesinger, Phil J. Kirby (you don't know him), Ted Kennedy. These are completely inhuman people who must be crushed like bugs, and I'm glad that someone has finally recognized the difference between good people, who deserve our compassion, and massively horrible hell-demons from the black depths whose humanity must only be mocked. It makes me feel good about our public discourse. Things are looking up.
Rating: Summary: Interesting book but riddled with factual errors Review: I'd like to make a few comments on the European chapter. Ingraham is right on many issues but her she falls into a stereotypical anti-European position which is almost identical with the anti-American position of many Europeans. There is a huge difference between being anti-European as opposed to being critical of current European policies. Ingraham's argument 'we are the best' reminds me in many ways of rhetorics of Dr.Goebbels 'Deutschland ueber alles'. We all know very well to what results this policy had led. According to Ingraham, Europe is weak incapable, yet she forgets to mention that the EU is also the biggest creditor of the US (with Britain being No.1). The US needs approximately $2bn of foreign capital a day to sustain its current growth of 3%. It is true that there are immense structural and demographic problems facing Europe and that current governments are unwilling to tackle those issues but problems of similar magnitude will have to be faced by future generations of this country. Let us not forget that Europe has played dominant role for more than 2.500 years as opposed to 50 years of US dominance and it is far from certain that the US will be capable of playing such role in the decades or centuries ahead.
Rating: Summary: *Bangs head on keyboard* Review: LOL this book is pure mindless conservative drivel. Do your brain a tremendous favor and don't read this. It'll only give you an aneurysm. That is if you have a brain of course. Laura Ingraham only likes celebrities when they are on her side. Why doesnt she tell Ted Nugent to shut his right wing ass up?Benjamin Franklin - "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Rating: Summary: A reviewer who actually read the book... Review: Congratulations to Laura Ingraham on a fine, well-researched book that was fun to read as well. I guess what her critics find so infuriating about her latest work is that she so accurately quotes the liberal elitists. Nothing is made up or taken out of context here. She crystallizes what many of us have thought all along - that the liberal/elitist mentality is one of hatred and vitriolic contempt for all who disagree with them. The best part of all this is reading the reviews of those who obviously didn't read the book at all. I must say that I relish the hyper-ventilating and foaming-at-the-mouth screeds from the know-nothings. They only prove Laura's point. I honestly wonder if some mischevious conservatives aren't writing some of the one-star reviews in order to make the liberals look foolish. When Franken and Moore write their lowbrow tripe - the liberals gush over their "brave" attacks on the right. But when Laura writes a book critiquing the left, suddenly these same people bluster about her book as a threat to free speech. The irony is thicker than a whale omelette.
Rating: Summary: Laura Ingraham Hits the Mark! Review: Laura is right on the mark with this book. She is a voice for many of us who are sick and tired of hearing the Hollywood Elite and the liberals ideas on where this country should be heading. Can you imagine this Country without conservatives to keep them in check? You would never see the manger at Christmas time, the word GOD would be stricken from all literature, public and private buildings. These people will fight to the death to save a cop killer (Susan Sarrandon & Mike Farrell's latest cause) the right for a tree to stand, or a animal to keep it's fur, then fight with the same venom to see a baby destroyed without ever having the chance to really live! I don't enjoy seeing anything or anyone abused but can't you see the hypocrisy here... Can you believe we have Al Pacino fighting for the rights of NAMBLA, the man boy love association. What a cause! This organization has a website that teaches men how to rape boys. I hope Al does not have sons. All this moaning about no weapons of mass destruction found (YET). I guess we are suppose to wait until it hits us right between the eyes... OH, Its the economy stupid! What good is an economy if we don't live to enjoy it! Always about the rights of the criminals, what about my right to live! And then you have Barbara Streisand telling us we should line dry our clothes to save energy? Hey Barbara, why don't you shut down some of those lights you have at that beach front estate and I can dry my clothes in the dryer! Maybe if we all conserve you can continue to drive that SUV and live in the manner you have grown accustom to! ( I drive a SUV also, but I don't tell others how they should live) All they want to do is tear down this president and this country. I am thankful that we have people in the White House who are concerned for our future, freedom and lives. Freedom has never been free! NOW, just shut up and sing!
Rating: Summary: Terrific, honest and courage book!! Review: This is a must read for the masses. Unfortunately, too many in this country absorb the dribble of the social 'elites'. This is the dribble which is promoted by the liberally biased media and for too many, is their only source of information. Americans need to wake up and start thinking through what is really happening in this country and stop depending upon the elitest dribble!! Liberals are promoting the antithesis to what this country was founded upon and what has made this country great! Thanks, Laura for writing this book. I will continue to promote it to all my colleagues and friends.
Rating: Summary: A Great book to read !!! Review: First: Laura gives most of the actors and singers praise for their talented works despite their political views. Second: She calls them on their political views. Third: Actors, singers; just shut up and do what you do best, you're ruining your careers by running your mouths. Fourth: Try to take off your liberal hat or your conservative hat and read this book a little objectively. You might just learn something and enjoy it as well.
Rating: Summary: Coherent conversation Review: As an independent-minded person (read: not democrat or republican), I find Laura Ingram's books MUCH more readable than Coulter's. Laura, makes sense and it's not just Coulter-style vile ranting. She has some points of import. However, I disagree to some of them. People around here should stop giving good or bad reviews to books based on the person who wrote the book. Yes, I understand we're in a very politically-charged, politically-divided time in our country, but what's the point of giving a 1 star rating for a nice book (or giving 5 stars for a mediocre book) just because you like/dislike the person who wrote it and the opinions given? It still baffles me the level of inmaturity of some. Back to the book, If you have ever listened to Laura on the radio you know she holds no prisoners and her arguments are based on documented facts (unlike Coulter). Good Book, but I wish she would have spent more time in the substance of politics rather than those Holywood know-nothing.
Rating: Summary: She's absolutely RIGHT! Review: I can't speak for anyone else obviously but, I feel empowered when i'm given information. The best information in life invariably comes from bleach blondes. I lost my virginity to a bleached blonde....Then again, who among us hasn't? Yes,the elites of America ARE tearing this country apart. This book proves why. Entertainers should just be quiet, along with the rest of us folks in America. Infact,no one should question authority,EVER. Conform or be a loser, and no one wants to be a loser. This book is an enjoyable read. Hell, for a moment whilst reading this book,i too felt i had much in common with such outsiders as Shwarzennegger and Robbie the Robot. Even though I'm currently unemployed.Again a good read. The threat to our democracy is entertainment. NOT Enron,BCCI,Wars for oil,and alienating friendly countries. I now understand because of this book ,that collections of songs ,such as Springsteen's Born To Run ,pose a much more greater risk to our republic than Homeland Security Agencies run by pardoned criminals. A BIG Thank you to the author for an enlightning read. I'm looking forward to her next book,"Everyone Just Shut Up And quit Asking Questions So You Can Hear ME SING"!.
