Summary: HOLLYWOOD DOES NOT GET IT AND APPARENTLY NEVER WILL
Review: This book gets to an important point, which is that Hollywood is totally liberal, unable to shake itself from this malaise, and loses power because their liberalism creates a loss of credibility. The Hollywood Left is part of the dominant media culture, all of which is liberal. This includes the world of cinema, television, network news, major newspapers and magazines. At one time they controlled all the media this nation heard and saw, which is why somebody like Walter Cronkite was so "trusted." There were no alternatives to Cronkite. Today the right has a niche, which includes talk radio, country music and a few newspapers and magazines. Fox News is not conservative, but because it is fair and actually roots for America, it seems conservative in comparison to its counterparts. Wherever conservative and patriotic media go head to head with the Left, conservativism and patriotism win. Hollywood loses power. Their movies have less influence, the Oscars get lousy ratings, and people mock their most outspoken anti-Americanism.

Hollywood does not learn from "The Passion of the Christ" or even "Saving Private Ryan". If they produced outright conservative films they would be enormous successes. There is a huge audience of conservatives who do not pay to see movies because they are tired of the old liberal slant. For instance, if Hollywood ever did a film that depicted, for one instance, how John Kennedy stole the 1960 election from Richard Nixon; or perhaps a story about a Democrat politicican who has rivals and witneses to his crimes murdered a la a certain Arkansas politician - conservative word of mouth would spread like wildfire.

How come we never see movies that depict the murder of 100 million human beings under Communism? We see plenty of Nazi and Holocaust movies, which is fine, but Communism was just as bad and even more deadly. Could it be because the Communists were embedded in the Democrat party until McCarthyism rooted them out? Could it be because down deep, many liberals like Communism, they just think it was a good idea gone wrong? A movie like "Schindler's List" set in the Soviet Gulags could be just as powerful. The Left cannot admit how awful Communism was because they gave aid and comfort to Communism during the Vietnam War. Now they are more liberal than ever? Why? Because Communism has been defeated and forgotten by the average citizen. Liberals no longer have to worry about being associated with it. There are, however, those of us who read and remember who know the facts about these people.

Now we are engaged in the War on Terrorism. The Left is slowly but surely gravitating to the terrorists because they no longer have Communism to admire any more. They hate American power and success, so they find themselves increasingly opposing America and admiring those who hate us. (...)

Summary: "Shut up, . . ." fosters division..
Review: My first impulse would be to say, "No, you shut up". But that would be just as undemocratic and unamerican as the assertion that those with liberal opinions should be silenced. Any conservative idea worth it's salt, can withstand a debate that includes liberal ideas. When Democrats stand up for the working class, they are accused of fostering a class war. When conservatives talk about the so called "elitists", that is supposedly okay. Like so many of the talk radio pundits, Laura tries to manage the scope of the debate, by discretiting those with liberal opinions. In a truly democratic society, the debate is open. Make your best case, Laura. Stick to the facts that support your point of view. Renounce the politics of hate, division and character assasination. We are all Americans, and we are all patriots, liberal to conservative. We just disagree on what's best for our country. Can you live with that?

Summary: Badly organized, bordering on incoherence at times
Review: There isn't much that Ingraham can contribute that other conservative pundits such as Coulter & Hannity haven't already done. I suspect that she is just trying to get her slice of the pie, but this book isn't going to do the trick. Say what you will about Ann Coulter, but her writing is superior & her arguments more cogently presented. By comparison, Laura Ingraham comes off looking like a poor man's Ann Coulter with the haphazard nature of this book. I cannot even imagine the most impassioned conservative being very enthusiastic about this.

Simply put, the book has a whole lot of superficial content about celebreties. Big deal. Barbara Streisand, James Woods --- really, I don't care what either one thinks. I can make up my own mind about the issues. At the same time, if I am entitled to express my opinion, why can't Alex Baldwin or Charlton Heston --- or for that matter, Laura Ingraham? One could ask the question, what makes her more qualified to express an opinion than the "elites" of which she is so critical? The only thing I ask is that if you are going to express an opinion, you at least do it coherently, and it is here that she largely fails.

Here's hoping that Laura gets a better ghost writer the next time around.

Summary: ~She's telling the truth Barney~
Review: Laura exposes the truth of what is happening in this country and elites who are desirious of bringing this country into capitulation under the UN. Nothing is worth fighting for in thier eyes, including American freedom's unless of course that includes abortion, then they'll fight. Kudo's Laura, and as the elite agenda progresses watch the US slide down the slope of no return. And you wonder why the US is not mentioned in Bible during the End Times....

Summary: Stalin's List???
Review: I want to be fair, but I can't bring myself to give this book more than one star. I've never read anything else that pigeon-holed a group of people so wholly and unnecessarily. I also find the title misleading, since there is only one chapter in which she specifically addresses those entertainers who she thinks should not express their political views. She did manage to come up with several ignorant comments made by entertainers on the left side, but failed to mention the many ignorant comments that have also been made by those on the right side. She managed to make Madonna seem like an idiot, but overlooked equally ridiculous comments that have been made by entertainers like Toby Keith. The bottom line is that political affiliation is not really an issue as much as education and knowledge of politics in general. It doesn't matter what end of the political spectrum someone falls on, he or she can still say something monumentally stupid. Ingraham chooses to pretend that no one on her side would ever be uninformed enough to do such a thing.

In general, I found the book to be redundant and patronizing. As others have already stated, her excessive use of the "us" against "them" paints an inaccurate black and white picture. Those who don't want religion in public places (therefore upholding separation of church and state, a part of our Constitution with which Ingraham does not seem to be familiar) are automatically contributing to the moral decline of our society, even if they do attend church and/or practice a religion themselves. And God forbid they claim to be spiritual but not religious, because such a thing is hypocritical.

Ingraham basically praises Rick Santorum, completely ignoring the fact that he decried gay and lesbian families. His age-old "hate the sin and not the sinner" philosophy justifies his statements in her book, despite the fact that he put homosexuals in the same category as those who commit incest and beastiality. I don't imagine that the "hating the sin and not the sinner" argument would hold up if every member of the gay population declared that heterosexual "behavior" and heterosexual families are simply unacceptable. Ingraham also believes that it's okay not to allow gays to serve in the military, but offers no explanation for her views other than the obvious assertion that being in the military is a very serious matter, and one has to be prepared to kill people. If it is believed that homosexuals cannot handle this, then they should not be allowed to serve in the military, she explains. Needless to reiterate, Ingraham thinks it is okay to pass judgment on an entire group of people.

But what I found most disturbing was her comment on the Holocaust. "Schindler's List was riveting," she said, but she wonders why there was never a "Stalin's List," and why the victims of the Holocaust are always depicted as perfect people with whom we should always sympathize, and the Nazis, (i.e. the Republicans, she suggests) are always made out to be "thuggish" and "stupid," among other things. I was under the impression that the Holocaust hadn't been presented to the public in such simple terms, nor did I realize that I should be expected to sympathize as much with the Nazis as I do with the victims of the Holocaust.

Summary: Incredibly enlightening book
Review: An incredibly informative, but ultimately frightening book for any patriotic American concerned with maintaining the values historically inherent to the greatest nation in history. As Ms. Ingraham illustrates concisely, these values and the very lifestyle Americans have cherished throughout generations are under assault by elites on the far left and tireless liberal Democrats intent on forcing their anti-American agenda on the American people (mainly through the courts, which have become a tool for the left wing in circumventing the will of the people). Whether the topic is the elite's efforts to completely eradicate religion from our culture, the organized "antiwar" (only when war results from America's desire to protect herself or her interests - anti-American is more apropos) crop and their ties to radical socialist groups, or open-border elites in both the Democrat and Republican parties forsaking US security interests in hopes of garnering the all-important Hispanic vote, Laura Ingraham reflects an outrage borne from common sense approach and a sincere concern for America - very highly recommended.

Summary: A fresh viewpoint
Review: I read this book because, unlike many others of its class, it didn't say "I hate liberals" on the cover. (Examples: Hannity, Coulter, Savage, etc.)

Instead, Ingraham hates "elites." What one discovers about 3 pages in is that "elite" is Ingraham-speak for "liberal."

So to put it in a nutshell: I don't know about anybody else, Laura, but yes, I do think that you, your personal version of God, your SUV, your radio show, and everything else about you is STUPID. That must make me an elitist, but I will try to bear that shameful label with a modicum of dignity.

Two stars for effort, none for content.

Summary: BUY IT NOW!
Review: Don't take the negative reviews here seriously. They simply reflect the prejudiced opinion of the lunatic radical left - most of whom haven't even read the book. It is their very lame attempt to censor the truth. So buy the book, quickly, before they run out.

Summary: Further thoughts.
Review: Ingraham's book, like those of Ann Coulter, Al Franken and Michael Moore, is pure propaganda. Anyone who is capable of critical thought can spot that. None of the facts these people cite can be taken at face value, because these writers are so incredibly biased that their books read like pure polemic! Whether they come from the right (Ingraham and Coulter) or the left (Franken and Moore) matters not -- they can't be trusted to deal squarely with the truth. So the question I have is this: why would any intelligent person, once he or she has gotten the flavor of the book, waste any more valuable time reading such propaganda?

Summary: Taking On The Liberal Elites
Review: In her breakout book "Shut Up And Sing", nationally-syndicated radio talk show host Laura Ingraham hammers the nation's hypocritical liberal elite. Laura tackles pointy-headed ivory tower academics, the Hollywood activists, and liberal elites from every avenue of America.

Pointing out their endless hypocrisy, Laura challenges liberal opposition to SUVs, flag waving, patriotism, guns, and George Bush's intellectual capacity. Along the way, the author lets her reader know why these elites want to tear down America, the real reason Hollywood is filled with wackos (including her own case study of Michael Moore), and the elitist goal of destroying religion in America. She tears down the myth that the United Nations, as currently constituted, is a force for good and relates her ideas for reform. With original chapter titles such as "In Kofi We Trust?" and "Europe vs. the Cowboys", "Shut Up And Sing" is a book that captivates its reader from beginning to end.

With a clever wit, sprinkles of humor, and a straight forward style of prose, Laura Ingraham pens a book that is sure to set her apart as one of the prominent conservative voices in America. For our own sake, let's hope that her voice continues to flourish...
