Rating: Summary: Goth culture is the real problem Review: Get this: there's a convention for serial killers, and its disguised by calling it a "Cereal" convention. Then a bunch of goths get together and do bad, spooky things. I guess that's a great idea for a lifestyle if you're in early adolescence, but considering that tripe like that is what wins awards for the impressionable set, and that ethics doesn't get any better than that, the over-fifteen crowd can safely ignore this. And the stuff is horrible; pedestrian commercialism taken to an extreme.
Rating: Summary: definition of separation; any questions? Review: Just in case you think religion should play ANY role in our government, here is the definition of separation. Remember that our founding fathers insisted on including this as a WRITTEN portion of our constitution! Rating: Summary: What a load of bunk! Review: First, it is historical fact that many of the founding fathers did not believe in the divinity of Christ. And there is good reason for this, only one of the Gospels (Mark) has Jesus answering the question "Are you the Messiah?" The other three has Jesus silent, not answering. Many historians believe Paul made most of his stories up (he wasn't there to witness them firsthand) and hence mispoke much of what Jesus said. Paul never met Jesus. The Founding Fathers were mostly pretty smart and educated fellows and knew this; hence they rejected Jesus' divinity but revered his message of love and peace. Unfortunately today's Christian fundamentalists have little use for the love and peace part. Right away Limbaugh's thesis takes a major tumble since he proposes nothing to counteract this view. In typical conservative vein, he states his wrong-headed opinion as fact with no support. Second, the idea that Christians, the by-far dominant religion in the US, is somehow persecuted is patently absurd. Are there some minor political conflicts? Yes, but to call it persecution is downright sensationalistic and absurd. Limbaugh does not know what real persecution is. Try asking Jews, Muslims, Wiccans, Buddhists and others about persecution and discrimination for their beliefs and then you will hear real persecution. Try getting a job with the name "Mohammed" for example. And one of my favorite Christian fundamentalist fallacies is this notion that one cannot pray in public schools or before a football game. That is completely false. You can pray anytime you want in a public school or before a football game, what you cannot do is have organized prayer. What is particularly ironic is that the same Republicans who rail against teachers who they say can't teach basic math want those same teachers to be entrusted with the awesome responsibility of leading their children in spiritual prayer. Christian fundamentalists need a major reality check because they're not living in the real world. The tip of the iceberg: Numerous authorities who had noted the errors in the K.J.V. such as William Kilburne (1650's) 20,000 errors, John Wesley (in 1755) 12,000 changes in the New Testament alone, the Revised Version of 1881 consisted of 36,000 errors and on and on. The NIV, RSV and The Living Bible are also replete with thousands of errors. Do some research! The KJV Bible is the True Word of God! Or is it? Inspired? Or not? I believe all of the five star ratings and rantings are from uneducated Protestants. For example: In 'Acts 5:30; 10:39.' the KJV, in speaking of Jesus' death, reads, "Whom ye slew 'and' hanged on a tree." The word "and" is 'not' in the Greek text, and by adding it to the text at this point in the verse it leads to some confusion on the part of the readers. The conjunction "and" indicates grammatically that one action followed another (i.e.: two separate actions independent of one another). Some unbelievers have tried to use this verse to demonstrate that Christ was killed first, 'and then' His dead body was hung on a 'tree'. By inserting the word "and," numerous complications have arisen which could have been prevented by a correct translation of the original text. The KJV translators also did not know what the "Asherah" was (a wooden idol representing a Canaanite goddess), so they translated the word repeatedly as meaning a "grove" of trees. In 'I Kings 16:33' they state, "And Ahab made 'a grove," which provoked the Lord God to anger. In point of fact, Ahab made an 'idol' here (the Asherah); his sin was 'idolatry', not planting a grove of trees!! In Deuteronomy 33:17 the KJV speaks of "the horns of unicorns." There are two mistakes in this passage: (1) The animal mentioned here in the original text is the "wild ox" and not the mythical "unicorn," and (2) in the original text the passage speaks of one animal (singular) with horns (plural). In Luke 18:12 the KJV reads, "I give tithes of all that I possess." The Law did NOT require one to tithe a tenth of all that he "possessed" (all his capital holdings), but rather a tenth of his increase (that which he acquired in addition to his possessions). This is clearly stated in the Greek word used in this passage. This book is a must read for idiots, zealots, bigots, sexists, and racists. 'He who believes blindly sees not the truth.' For fun, if you are open minded and looking for those books begging for its pages to be turned...look no further. I just read a copy of Edgar Fouche's 'Alien Rapture,' which also blew me away. Fouche was a Top Secret Black Program 'insider', whose credibility has been verified over and over. I also really liked Dan Brown's 'Angels and Demons.' Want to be shocked, check out Dr. Paul Hill's 'Unconventional Flying Objects' which NASA tried to ban.
Rating: Summary: Conservative Propaganda??? Review: I could not believe this book! Our country was founded on the principles of religious freedoms, yet also on the seperation of church and state. Is that really so hard to understand? There is good reason behind this distinction and I am not certain that it is Constitutional to consider this book as fact! If these people are so mad about Christianity not being the foundation of public schools, there is no reason that they couldn't go to a private school! If it bothers them that much, then they can certainly pay the money, rather than make a stink...
Rating: Summary: Persecution of Christians in America Review: Excellent, well researched, and frighteningly informative.
Rating: Summary: Eye-opening and throughly researched Review: Like Mel Gibson's film, "The Passion Of The Christ", David Limbaugh's book, "Persecution" is bashed by the elitist liberal left for its telling of the truth. While I would not particularly classify myself as a devout evangelical Christian, I still do adhere (as almost 90% of Americans do) to identifying myself as a Christian. Having said that, Mr. Limbaugh points out what I have seen both in growing up here in the US and what my 7-year old has been exposed to in the public education system. Limbaugh is correct in that, as a whole, the public has been steered away from Christian beliefs dealing with morality and decency. There are many detractors who dispute the religious faith of the Founding Fathers. The heavily Christian influence of the early colonial days in the America would rightly support the greater adherence to religous beliefs during the days of the Constitutional Convention. It's almost laughable to hear the liberals try to justify their revisionist history by claiming (and indoctrinating in classes) that the Founding Fathers (in late 18th century America ... with RELIGIOUS institutions like Harvard--how their founders must be rolling over in their graves!) were not religious people at all. The devolution of our society into "Sex In The City" and M-TV watching morons who argue over what the meaning of "is" is and that oral sex isn't really sex makes this type of reading essential to any moral-minded American--especially if you are raising children, so that you understand the environment that they are in within the education system in the US. Highly recommeded.
Rating: Summary: Great Review of the Anti-Christian Movement Review: While the far left and most liberals want you to think they are tolerant of Christianity, this book shows how they are slowly trying to eat away at your rights. They also want to put nonchristian religions in a position over Christianty. Limbaugh also clearly shows how the left tries to rewrite history when it comes to America's founders. The left can ignore or deny all of this, or they can wake up and see that their own leaders are anti-free speech, anti-religion, anti-free assembly and a number of other anti-Constituional-rights.
Rating: Summary: Important reading for those interested in American liberties Review: Limbaugh's book was easily readable and well documented. He gives example after example of discrimination directed specifically towards Christians. As a matter of fact, this book has more examples than it does free prose by Limbaugh. Many, many of these are found at many religiously conscious web sites. He points out the hypocrisies of the neo-tolerant crowds, again, with documented specifics. For instance, he talks of many occurrences where groups allowed one set of ideals and pursuits to have freedom, while Christian ideals and pursuits are restricted or outright prohibited. These examples fill the first 10 chapters of his book. Chapter 11 is on the religious nature of our nation's founding and how people today are trying to erase that past and/or pass it off as deism. Chapter 12 is an interview with many noted religious scholars including Marvin Olasky, Ravi Zaccharias and others. I flew through this book because of its ease of reading and Limbaugh's ability to state the case plainly and succinctly. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is worried about the state of affairs today, whether you are a Christian or not. IMO, this book is a must read for all Christians, though. We need to know what's happening and how we can reverse this frightening trend in the US.
Rating: Summary: how to be "progressive" Review: we all want to progress, afterall, change is unavoidable. However, only conservatives realize that the only way we can change things is if we embrace and accept how things are- to go WITH the forces that be. The left doesnt ACCEPT the reality of today- let alone agree or disagree. C learly, the left is not working with reality. "Progressives" should stop trying to CREATE something new by way of trial and error only to venture further into disillusionment and instead should DISCOVER the classical thinkers. For example, the humanities-the sciences of man- (politics, philosophy, psychology, anthropology, sociology..) were once aimed toward discovering the nature of man so we can uncover the GOOD, TRUE,UNIVERSAL, and what is FREEDOM. Our normative values were to follow from our understanding of how the nature of self relates to the nature of existence. This was more than an approach it was a METHOD. Liberal thinking, however, is undercutting this method toward the true, good, and universal in man. They instead try to justify their goal toward "equality" while disregarding the concept of "freedom" . Freedom becomes a FREEDOM FROM- no longer a FREEDOM TO or FREEDOM FOR. Values become relativized and humaness becomes an average. This, In effect, destroys the method toward a science of man. Anthropology becomes reduced to a mere comparative sociology, the concepts of society are left undefined. Someone should tell a liberal that it is never possible for society to be "value-free" no matter how politically correct you decry us to be. As long as there are those unable to reason for ourselves, society, father figures, EVERYTHING will always be implying some value to us. So please progessives, stop "breaking it all down for us" - it is not helping- and have faith in man. A reasonable man looks for truth- not contradictions. We are a capitalist, individualist nation for REASONS worth understanding..... there IS a nature of evil etc etc.
Rating: Summary: Very good work. I've actually read it! Review: The people who put down this book, as usual, are short on facts and long on political propaganda. David Limbaugh cites practically everything that needs sources stated. The book ends with between thirty and forty pages of sources alone. You will never see this in a Al Franken or Michael Moore "Liography". This bologna about "a liberal didn't say it, so it has to be a lie" is so painfully stupid. To automatically call a conservative a racist, bible-thumping, bigoted, homophobic liar is very narrow-minded, which liberals always claim that the conservatives are, but it also labels people. Liberals hate being labeled, but all they do is label (negatively, I might add) anyone who has the courage to disagree with their constant onslaught of lies and deception. They claim to be the makers of tolerance, but this book points out time and again that the only people they are "tolerant" of are the people they agree with. They preach tolerance of what they do, but don't feel it necessary to exhibit tolerance, as the ACLU and Americans United For The Separation Of Church And State have shown constantly. They have shown that they can't pass their hate-filled agenda through legislative means, so they have to use the courts to legislate from the bench. Thank you, and God Bless You, David Limbaugh, for taking the stand for Bible-believing Christians like me. Keep up the good fight!
