Rating: Summary: Persecution...how far we have come! Review: On behalf of the Christian community and those wanting religious freedom in America...this applies to the pessimists below: Before making any pre-judgments as to the validity and substance of Limbaugh's latest work 'Persecution' think about the underlying ramifications of secularism, liberalism, and judicial activism...a shameless, meaningless, and unethical society can and will result, i.e. if your ilk has their way in this nation. The leftists will continue to make further inroads in our schools, government, and other social institutions if Christians stay mute and indifferent to their cause for truth as well as their case for Christ. I wouldn't want to end up with a court citation for praying to and believing in the providence of our founding father's. The latter would undoubtedly occur if and when these radical judges were to label all religion (Christianity in particular) as "dangerous" and "extremist" just like in Europe. Alas, it appears as though we're heading toward that dreadful reality. Anyhow, read 'Persecution' and see the facts behind every assault being launched by these God-hating fundamentalists on every sector of our society, and also, please do yourself a favor by ignoring the critics who are blinded by the lies inherent within their humanistic belief system; the leftists are notorious for deceiving the public insofar as telling the truth about anything, really.
Rating: Summary: Christian Persecution?? Just Read the One-Star "Reviews"! Review: This book is a MANDATORY read! As a Ph.D. researcher I applaud Limbaugh for this thoroughly researched and annotated book. I know a scholarly work when I see one. Kudos to you Mr. Limbaugh!I am one of those Christians who already knew that the secularist, liberal, leftist, elitist, historical revisionist, anti-Americans wanted to ERASE all our God given rights and religious freedoms. The very readable "Persecution" clearly and concisely reveals who, what, when, where and how they are attempting to reach that goal! If you really want a peek into the minds of the secularists . . . just read their one-star "reviews" trashing "Persecution" hoping you won't read it. Many of their reviews are simply a "wolf in sheep's (I am a Christian) clothing". Their vicious attacks reveal that their worst fear is that millions of people will read "Persecution" and become outraged enough to take back their religious freedom! It is after all "freedom OF religion" not "freedom FROM religion"!
Rating: Summary: Not afraid to speak the truth Review: This book puts together many examples of the intolerance that is so prevalent in the US against people of the Christian faith. The very people who preach tolerance in this country are the most biased and intolerant of all. Some of these reviews seem to be a simple attack on the author, not a review of the book. I encourage you to actually READ the book if you are going to post a review, instead of simply attacking the author. David Limbaugh has done extensive research and has documented that research in the book. People who claim to be Christians need to read this book and WAKE UP from their stupor of trying to be just like everyone else in the world. The time is coming in the not too distant future when you will be asked to take a real stand for your faith. Christians do not want special treatment like so many interest groups out there, they just want to be free to practice their faith, like others are free to practice their particular beliefs. If you want to trash this book, I suggest you go out and educate yourself first. Start by actually reading the constitution. Then read a few accounts of American History. You can then make an informed decision for yourself instead of simply spouting hate rhetoric that is now in vogue. Think for yourself! Take the time to educate your mind on history and government before you launch a verbal assault that labels you as ignorant and misinformed. I commend Mr. Limbaugh on his courage to chronical these incidents in this book. And as far as his brother is concerned, whatever happened to compassion for those who get caught in the horrible web of addiction? How can you be so heartless, condeming him? Read this book if you want to know the truth.
Rating: Summary: Divine Intervention Review: If Jesus Christ Himself were to return, he would be deemed the most un-Christian of all men by David Limbaugh and his kind who, frankly, embarrass me by calling themselves Christians. These fools do not know the Jesus I came to know and love in a small country church nearly half a century ago. My Jesus would never condone these men's behavior, but would suffer them to come unto Him for forgiveness. Mark my word, divine intervention is at work here. Rush was first, David is next.
Rating: Summary: Bullcrap that smells! Review: There are two kinds of Christians. Those who practice their faith as best they can and who seek to raise their children with worthwhile belief. Then there are the political "Christians" who aren't very Christian and who are intent on cramming their twisted views down everyone's thoats -- and grabbing political power. They have no respect for fellow Christians who do not want their children indoctrinated with someone's elses theology in school or in the courts or anywhere else paid for from tax money. And they have even less regard for those of other faiths. Tolerance, compasion and acceptance are Christian ideals. Limbaugh should take a strong lesson about public morality and private cesspools from his drug-addled more famous brother. The Big fat idiot. He should also learn the difference between Mississippi and Pennsylvania. He has the same careless regard for truth as his brother. Christians love the truth. It's not in this book.
Rating: Summary: Absurd hyperbole Review: Please!!! Waging war means taking a club or a battle axe or a sword or a gun or a bomb or some other implement of destruction and going out to smite your enemy. There are plenty of Liberal Christians. There are plenty of Christians who are liberals. Christianity does not belong to the conservatives, although Limbaugh, who is the brother of the Hillbilly Heroin addict Rush Limbaugh, would like you to think so. Its just another round in the so called culture war, where bulletheaded conservatives try to make a little money off the rabid masses by beating up on political progressives. This whole slew of conservatives who have grown rich from feeding off of liberals by collecting a hate tax from the right wing is on the rise. It's the hot scam of our era. These people have found a lucrative economic niche. Demogogue the progessives, and grow fat and wealthy. It worked for Rush, now I guess his little brother wants to cash in with the same treatment.
Rating: Summary: A must read! How liberals want to erode your rights! Review: The liberals will claim these incidents are rare, no they aren't! As this book shows the anti-Christian, anti-First Amendment left have considerable influence in public education. They have turned it into their own propaganda machine. So this book goes beyond the religion issue, but also the bankruptcy of our educational system. See also books like Johnson's "Reason in the Balance" & "The Wedge of Truth," Watkins' "The New Absolutes" and Dean's "Is the Truth Out There?" Limbaugh's book is a must read by all Christians and all those who care about human freedoms.
Rating: Summary: The war on Christian beliefs and value systems. Review: I'm halfway through the book. It is making me angry. I'm finding out more and more ways that contemporary stalinists are eliminating value systems that do not agree with theirs. Christianity accepts moral absolutes: there is actually a right and a wrong. Leftist thought rejects moral absolutes: whatever the collectivity thinks is right is right; whatever it thinks is wrong is wrong. The book is a warning to all believers, especially Christians: they are trying to eliminate all traces of religious values from American life.
Rating: Summary: A Catholic reader - "This is a truly important book." Review: This book provides a comprehensive, albeit glancing, view of the state of Christianity in America. He covers a lot of territory, but leaves no doubt that the Christian roots of this country are being CONSCIOUSLY, DELIBERATELY attacked from every side. Every Christian or Orthodox Catholic knows this is true. If you are not someone that hates Christians, you should read this book to learn about the implications for everyone, Christian and non-Christian alike. If you are a Christian, David Limbaugh has written about what you already know and see. He gives some historical perspective to where we have come from and, if we stand silently, where we will be heading. Buy it!
Rating: Summary: A Compelling Case and a Good Read Review: Limbaugh's case is well constructed and the examples cited are numerous without being tedious. I might be tempted to deduct a half star for the last section being a little short. The case for the Biblical Worldview being the fountainhead of American Liberty is incontrovertible and the corpus of Founding Era literature proving that fact is too great to ignore. A little more ink spilled on the Judeo Christian contribution to American Liberty would have been welcome. I must admit that I like a book that damns the lying flatteries and overt hypocrisy of the Licentious Left and exposes the corruption of their social and philosophical agenda. Persecution fills that bill quite nicely. There are some who "in their own mind" disbelieve what David Limbaugh documents in this book. Leaving aside kooks who construct their own "personal truth", there really is an active movement to suppress the Judeo Christian worldview and harass those who embrace to it. Having been physically and verbally assaulted by a teacher for silently bowing my head to give thanks over my lunch in a Chicago area middle school (1969) I know that these things can and do to happen. Of course the delicious thing is this: many who have been abused and hectored by anti-Christian bigots are now activists who are being elected to public office. (Fear this, Liberals!) The day will come when the so-called "separation of church and state" will be relegated to the dust bin of history and consigned to the margins of legal contemplation by those who understand that to remain free we must return to being a moral and just people. Persecution is a book that will, to the chagrin of hateful anti-religious bigots, hasten the arrival of that essential social transformation.
