Summary: Actually, it's more -5
Review: David Limbaugh, hanging tenuously to the tattered coattails of his kinsman, Rush, claims Christianity is in grave peril in the USA. Fewmets! Aside from the fact D.L. is trying to press buttons on Limbots everywhere, religion is in no danger, and may be healthier than ever before.

I think the problem for a certain type of Christian (and we've all encountered them ), is that people are a lot less tolerant of being bullied, harranged, harrassed, hassled and put upon by these in your face religious loons who know, far better than you in fact, what is best for you. I have no patience with them or what they're selling, but it doesn't mean I'm anti Christian.

This book is nonsense. Limbaugh is trading on his name and on the paranoid fantasies of persecution a certain type of person relishes.

Summary: Right-wing Paranoia hits a new low
Review: Let's see now - every major institution in this country is populated by Christians as the vast majority, including the courts, yet somehow these same Christians are persecuting the Christian church. Makes sense, doesn't it? No, what we have in Mr. Limbaugh's silly book is a few examples of goofy over-reaction - not public policy - to our long-cherished tradition of the separation of church and state. It takes a very paranoid viewpoint to hold that this represents a national trend or a danger to Christians. Selling it to a gullible public requires some real chutzpah (forgive the word, Christians). But then, his last name is Limbaugh, isn't it?

Summary: From an atheist: very well written and interesting book
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It is very well thought out and very well written. And I agree with the author that christianity is discriminated against today in American public schools and society. I also enjoy what Nancy Pearcey has to say (at the end). She is correct.

Where I don't agree with the author is what should be done about persecution of christians. I am against having to listen to evangelism myself; but I don't mind christians or other religious people talking about their experiences and feelings and values. And I agee that christians should be treated just as well as other religions in America are treated today.

Certainly I do NOT agree that Muslims should practice their religion in schools if christians cannot. Nor do I agree with today's politically correct 'winter' break. Most Americans celebrate Christmas whether or not they are christian. So let's call it the Christmas break because that is what it is.

I agree that it is OK to have Christmas and Easter programs in schools. Children have enjoyed these for generations. On the other hand, if there are many adherents to other MAJOR world religions in a public school, we should also allow celebration of their major holidays - such as Hannukah. I personally celebrate Yule and have a tree and presents etc.

Furthermore, I see nothing wrong with allowing christian students to have prayer meetings after school or at lunch. And if other religions get student funds at colleges and universities for their religious activities, why not give christian student groups the same benefits. BE FAIR!

For high school students, if christian students don't want to have sex education, or have abortions, then they should not be forced to hear about sex or experience abortions. However, students who are interested in the natural information that young adults need to hear about their bodies and sex should also have that opportunity! I ask for respect on both sides.

I agree with the author that the homosexual focus in schools is not appropriate or healthy. I do not see homosexuality as a moral issue of any kind; it is a biological or sociological abnormality that should be acknowledged as occuring in some subset of the human population. A culture of abnormal behaviour is not healthy and should not be promoted to youngsters anywhere.

I want to see American schools teaching our young citizens to be proud of our great country. People come here from all over the world because we have the best government and values. Why should we give up our Western heritage for some sham of 'multicultural equality?' All belief systems are NOT equal. Our American culture and history have made us a great nation, and we need to teach our children this truth.

I would like to read more by this author.

Summary: Life in our anti-christian america
Review: Finally, someone has the courage to stand up to the fanatical left and defend Christians against the injustices they face in this country.

-No U.S. president has ever been a Christian. In fact, every U.S. president other than Kennedy was a card-carrying Atheist.

-The President usually ends every speech with the words, "Let's all help America, since there is no God to do things for us."

-A political candidate who declares himself a Christian will have far less chance of winning an election than one who flaunts his atheism.

-All of our money has the atheistic slogan "We do not trust in God" printed on it.

-Most hospitals are full of atheist symbols, and many prominently feature statues of Nietszche, Darwin, and so forth.

-It's easy to buy checks with quotes from Thomas Paine, but almost impossible to buy checks with Bible verses on them.

-There are large networks of atheistic private schools in America, while it's nearly impossible to find a private Christian school.

-Most gravestones in America are engraved with pentagrams; those few graves which are engraved with crosses usually end up being vandalized.

-Organizations such as the Boy Scouts deny membership to Christians.

-One cannot rent a hotel room without finding a copy of Nietzsche's The Anti-Christ in the room.

-Most major newspapers run a special weekly section devoted to atheism. There are no equivalent sections for religious news.

-Anti-Christian shows such as the American Atheist Forum are broadcast by major national networks. Meanwhile, Billy Graham is only able to get on the air through public access TV, which is watched by few people.

-Most radio markets have at least one Atheist radio station. There are no Christian radio stations anywhere.

-Even our language reflects the radical anti-Christian bias that pervades our society. For example, when somebody sneezes, most people say "Darwin bless you". Similarly, "Voltaire dammit!" is a common cussword.

-There is an entire genre of music known as "Contemporary Atheist Music." The notion of "Christian music" is unheard of.

-It is almost impossible to find a shopping mall with a Christian Armory book store, while Atheist Book Centers are featured prominently on every corner.

-Churches are extremely rare, while atheist meeting centers can be found every few blocks.

-Nearly all of our elected public officials are atheists; they even have to swear on a copy of Darwin's "Origin of Species" in order to take office.

-Evangelistic Atheists frequently go house to house, extolling the virtues of Reason whether the resident wants to hear it or not.

-In the workplace, Christians often find it nearly impossible to get time off work for religious holidays such as Christmas.

-Insurance companies refer to natural disasters as "Acts of Darwin".

Summary: this book is against christianity
Review: I am a christian. I believe in Jesus and his teachings. This book has nothing to do with christianity or why our country came about. A good majority of the people who first came to America came to get away from being persecuted because of their religious beliefs, they had different views from the people where they came from and wanted to be able to live in peace with those beliefs. If any of you read the bible you will know that becoming a christian is much like an alcoholic who decides to quit drinking. They must reach that conclusion themselves. You cannot force anyone to quit drinking or believe in God and Jesus. In the Bible, it states that God is there for anyone and that all they have to do is knock on his door and they will be answered and accepted lovingly. He does not want someone who does not come willingly, but loves us all. I do not know if I am liberal or conservative, like most people I have leanings towards both ideas. One thing I do know, is that to class one group as being anti-christian is totally wrong, because I know both conservatives and liberals who are both strong christians and some who are atheists in about equal proportions, so his theory doesn't wash and if you all are honest with yourselves you will know that too.

Summary: Watch out, the liberal atheists are out to get you.
Review: David Limbaugh has written a little gem of christian-conservativism for the United States to take pleasure in, only be careful, as this book seems to be riddled with assertions that are, in my mind, nothing short of blatant lies.

The premise of this book is to show how the liberals in America are attempting to undermine the christian faith, and with a sort of evil intent at that. Examples he gives to "prove" his claims usually center around public schools, and to be more specific he talks about issues such as prayer.

While school sponsered prayer is not allowed and the term "under God" is becoming somewhat taboo, the simple fact is that many Americans are christian and that praying should ultimately be a communication between yourself and God (or whomever you believe in), and that to have a kind of mandate behind school sponsored religion, to have a federally supported religion, is the REAL enemy against God. Faith should not be the result of a forceful exertion.

I am a junior in high school, and my history teacher has a copy of the Bible on his desk, and he always adds the phrase "I hope and pray" to the pledge of alligence in the morning, and he doesn't mind if his classroom is used as a kind of religious gathering place. He does not, however, exert his religion unto us. He does not make an establishment of what is the correct religon and what is not the correct religion, or that religon is favorable over non-religion. This certain disposition is firmly enstated in America. You can be religious all you want, but others shouldn't have to follow you if they don't want to.

And honestly, if the Liberals were out to get God then you probably would see "In God we trust" written on our money. I don't think you would have to swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you God. You would never have heard anyone from the white house speak of praying for the 9/11 victims families.

Final thoughts: Limbaugh is just swimming around in a pool of Republican ideology and making a blunt, ignorant appeal to the christian population of America.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: You can't argue with the facts
Review: The way this book is laid out--point by point, example after example--makes it irrefutable. Limbaugh never advocates Christian dominance in the American culture, only toleration and respect in balance with what is granted to Muslims, Wiccas, Agnostics, etc. Bigotry against Christians is not only rampant, it is fashionable as well. This is a great read!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Only to please Christians
Review: This war on Christianity is overrated. Limbaugh seems to think that America is a christian country when it's not. Would he find it insulting if instead of In God we trust it would be changed to in Allah wee trust?

Summary: Filled with inaccuracies...
Review: School children are not prevented from praying before football games, or at any other point in school. This argument has been going around for a while now and it's just gets more and more ludicrous every time I hear it. If you want to pray to God before a football game, just bow your head and do it. Why is that so difficult? Why do religious conservatives like David Limbaugh feel they need to use a loudspeaker in order to reach the lord? God is a diety folks; that means he has no ears. He can hear you even if you don't speak anything at all. Otherwise, people who are mute would never be able to pray.

The same rule applies to the Pledge of Allegiance. The phrase "Under God" was not written in the original Pledge; it was added in 1954 during the height of the McCarthy era. Nevertheless, if you're a school student and you want to say the Pledge with that phrase included, all you need to do is show up to class 20 seconds early, face the flag, put your hand over your heart, and say it. These steps seem very simple to me, I do not understand why we make such a fuss over them.

The United States is a great country with a huge multitude of cultures and beliefs, not one of which should be given any greater importance than another. That is why religion must be kept as something that is taught at home and at church, not school. Books like "Persecution" serve no other purpose than to foster hatred and animosity between people that inevitably leads to violence. We should try to tone it down a little.

Summary: Fine Evangelical scholars are being persecuted: read this!
Review: Fine Evangelical Christian scholars are being persecuted: even in so-called Christian colleges. Political correctness has gone beyond the boundaries of decency - and isn't it funny that you can't say things about the appalling treatment of women in many Muslims countries but if you defend Christianity then you are a bigot who deserves calumny and scorn. Thank you Limbaugh for pointing out to the world what many Evangelicals in the USA are suffering.
