Summary: The Best
Review: This is the best repair book for any automobile. Most books tell you to put bolt A in hole B. John tells you how to convince bolt A that it really wants to be in hole B. I left my copy in the glove box of my bug when I sold it, but I will probably buy another one when I see one (book, not bug).

Summary: I liked it so much that I bought a VW!
Review: Seriously, I found a copy of this book in an old 2nd hand shop. Paid $10 for it, and started to read it. I was amazed! Within 2 weeks, I was the proud owner of a 75 VW Bus!

Summary: A must have for all aircooled VW owners
Review: John Muir is regarded as the expert in the field as far as aircooled VW's. This book is extremely easy to read. It makes capable mechanics out of "compleat idiot"s with its easy going style.

For a complete collection, buy the VW service manual by Robert Bentley to complement the Muir book. With these two references, available through amazon.com, you have everything you need to perform any and all repairs on your aircooled VW.

Summary: Very helpful and extremely funny!
Review: My ex-girlfriend has a copy of this book. I enjoyed it so much when we used it to work on her Bug that I want one for myself, and I don't even have a Volkswagon...

Summary: Excellent book for the novice VW owner
Review: I've owned three editions of this book. I love it so much. It is just so much fun and informative at the same time. No classic VW owner should be without this book!

Summary: Plain language repair guide.
Review: I bought this book in 1980, recently showed it to a friend who just purchased a 1964 beatle, and he asked me to check if it was still in print. He liked it so much he wants one of his own. Plain language, step by step, repair instruction that is laced with humor.

Summary: Can you Differentiate a spark plug from a spoon???????
Review: This book makes working on your VW easier than baking a cake... That is if you CAN tell a spark plug from a spoon. I have been working on VW's for 15 years. I use the extremely complicated Bentely manuals and I still find myself refering "back to the basics" If you own an air cooled VW, YOU NEED THIS BOOK. As John Muir said " Come to kindly terms with your a$$, for it bears you".. Your VW will break down...Do your pocket book some justice and buy this book..

Summary: FOR THE COMPLETE IDIOT!!!
Review: I had no knowledge of internal combustion engines, and successfully rebuilt five VW engines (two for myself and three for friends). It takes the reader from explaining the functioning of a screwdriver to the pulling, the rebuilding, and re-installing the engine. I misplaced my book years ago, and though I don't own a VW, I am ordering another for memories' sake.

Summary: ~awsome~
Review: this book has awsome everything!..a must have for any air cooled owner!..better than any tool you could have in your car!..the portable mechanic in your trunk!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: First buy this book, then buy a Volkswagen!
Review: Definately the "how to" book on fixing the VW. Experience has shown that using this book, I've cut down on maintenance cost as much as 60% on my daily driven 67 Bug, while having pretty basic mechanical skills. This book is a must buy! - Telly King
