Summary: At last, a veiw of the mob from a different angle! GREAT!
Review: Reading most Mafia books thes days can be quite monotonous, repetative and cliche. Pinky rings, expensive suits, Capo di tutti Capis, classy Cadillacs, another coupe de grace, and so on and so on and so on. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE BOOKS!!!!!!! Its focus is on the rise and fall of a small crew that grew from small time car theifs to big time gangsters. For once we get a close look at mobsters at the bottom and in the middle of a family instead of the tedious stories of yet another Godfather. It reads easily, and for not one moment does it bore. It also develops the characters beyond a paper thin description. We actually see a human side of life in the Mafia, rather than the people involved being just Hoodlums. The authors seemed to have put effort into making sure you see these men as men, who sometimes are genuinely good people or sometimes heartless cold blooded killers. ENGROSSING, UNBELIEVABLE. A TOP NOTCH READ!

Summary: Excellent coverage of America's most deadly serial killers.
Review: It just so happens that these serial killers happen to be gansters. This is an unbelieveable mafia story that happens, unfortunately, to be too true. The presentation of the action in the story is only surpassed by the character development of the various Gambino associates. As I read this book, I could not help wondering why we outside of the "Tri-State Area" have head so little about their activities. My only criticism is that the details involving all the law enforcement personnel was a little over developed. However, I applaud the authors for their support of and the attention they paid to the first line officers who dedicated themselves to the arrest and conviction of this muderous crew.

Summary: IN-DEPTH LOOK AT GRISLY ACTIONS OF MOB CREW: FASCINATING!!
Review: unlike all other mob books you've read! reads like fiction but it's all true

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good inside story of how good the mob is not.
Review: Can be a little detailed (more data than necessary)but gets into the killings and back stabbing of so called men of the mafia.

Summary: the real mob
Review: This is the real mob,not John Gotti or Al Capone strutting around outside a court house while dozens of reporters follow them around, this is the story of how the bosses get their mansions, cadillacs, and pinkie rings.By sending out vicious thugs to steal, sell drugs, beat up,and occasionaly kill people.A look into the depravity of the most evil mob crew ever.A must read for anyone interested in the mob or even just criminals. As a final thought,I see a few people have problems with Dominick Montiglio, the main source for this book.I have read on the internet that he was never a green beret, and if he lies about this he must lie about everything, right?I don't know but I do know that Jerry Capeci is the foremost expert in the states on the NY mob and I would imagine did plenty of research on this book and had dozens of sources,so even if Montiglio wasn't a green beret(shame on Capeci for not checking if he didn't)I'm sure this book isn't too far from the truth, besides, somebody killed all those people, right?

Review: In response to many of your reviews, thumbs up to those smart enough to determine fact from fiction. For those of you who believe this "thriller" and comment as if you know the characters, all I can say is "poor judgement!" I am one of the fortunate to know many of these men, and all I can say is that this book is extremely exciting to read, but full of nonsense. I only wish today's generation was filled with more of these men. Maybe we should look deeper into the people behind this story, such as Dominic. Another weak and screwed up drug user crying poor me and looking for a pity party. This creature told many lies all to try to make himself look like a hero. As for Roys son, another pity party. Poor thing; so it wasn't drugs but booze, lets blame it on dad.

So go on and enjoy the story, but if you are all that interested, try looking up the actual cases involved and see the real truth. It is then that we might learn a thing or two about what we call justice. A perfect example would be Henry Borelli serving 150 years in a maximum security prison far away from his family, and all for 15 stolen cars; nothing more. God, I have heard of lighter sentences for murder and rape.

Maybe more people should take the time to look deeper into our justice system, before they comment on a book such as this.

Summary: HANDS DOWN BEST MOB BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This is a very huge book. I read it in like 3 days because it is so engrossing and enthralling and it is just plain CRAZY!! Roy DeMeo is one psychotic man....or should say WAS since they found him in a trunk of a car riddled with bullet holes with a chandelier on top! GREAT BOOK! DONT PASS IT UP! Higly recommended to anyone who digs mob books or movies! The part about the DeMeo crew ordering a pizza while dismembering bodies they hang upside down in the shower is enough to grab your attention but this entire book is very interesting! Great book title too!

Review: Despite some reviews here that state that Dominick Montiglio was never a Green Beret, never a war hero, maybe never even in combat, I still give this book credence. While Montiglio was a source for this book, it's clear to the reader that he was not truly involved in the Demeo crew but really more of a servant to Nino Gaggi his uncle. So there is no way Montiglio could have known all these horrifying details about many of these murders. Capeci and Mustain would have to have had other sources that they learned about these murders from. The book definitely focuses too much attention on Montiglio, he was basically a down-and-out deadbeat cokehead.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that this book is a complete fabrication. Too much law enforcement has found out too much information about the Demeo crew for someone to think that the information about these murders was fabricated. As for the Dominick Montiglio war hero stuff, well it's a minor part of the book at best so take it with a grain of salt. The real point of this book is that the Mafia is not the Sopranos or The Godfather. It's these people. People who have zero intelligence or practical function on this planet, but who kill innocent people in gruesome ways just so their crimes can continue. This is a very good read.
