Rating: Summary: Entry into this country is a privilege - not a right Review: Michelle Malkin hits the proverbial nail on the head with this eye-opening manifesto. As Michelle pithily states, "The safety of our citizens must come before the comfort and convenience of foreigners." Malkin expertly delineates the complex looming dilemma at hand - the inexcusable lack of government coordination and willingness to keep illegal aliens out of our country. The airline and tourism industry, politicians pandering for ethnic votes, diplomatic kowtowing, and political croynism have all superseded national security. For those who have given negative reviews of Invasion due to its "liberal bashing," well, you ony show your ignorance as you evidently have yet to read the book. Malkin has written an unabashedly candid rebuke of the lack of accountability within the INS and government in general - while sparing no one from blame. She is harsh on President Bush and his desire to enact a bipartisan bill with Senator Daschle allowing immediate amnesty for all illegal aliens. Malkin then denounces Ashcroft for his continuation of the Clinton legacy by broadening victim status and extending the stays of illegal aliens indefinitely through T-Visas. As Malkin states, "there will be howling protestations from the usual suspects. But this is no time to give in to the homegrown abettors of anti-Americanism."
Rating: Summary: Wish Amazon had zero stars for such crrrrap! Review: This must be one of the worst books ever written. A sheer waste of time except for the extremely paranoid, weak and gullible people. Michelle Malkin is one of the worst conspiracy therosists around. Her ultra right wing views are nothing but fabrications and/or her imagination working overtime. Don't waste your time on this juuuunk, there are thousands of better things you can do!
Rating: Summary: A new perspective for Law Enforcement Intelligence. Review: Ms. Malkin cogently expresses her insight that law enforcement intelligence must successfully incorporate tasks, functions, and controls beginning with communication with consumers during the planning & direction phase of the intelligence cycle. Western, and particularly U.S. culture encourages personal initiative, the challenging of conventional wisdom, and the development of creative solutions to the inevitable conflicts and contradictions that occur within the competitively pressured environment of both the civilian law enforcement and military intelligence communities.
Therefore, it is incumbent on leadership steeped in personal courage to deliver intelligence products that address the internal-operational, and tactical-needs, with policymaking consumer's needs-strategic-and resolve the continuing dilemmas, inconsistencies, and subversions attributable to influences including, but not limited to, the media, special interest groups, and the changing times.
The character of the immigrant population living within our borders has changed, as has their motives for being here. Assimilation and a genuine desire to be `American' have given way to subversive and ethno-religious self-aggrandizement. A large subculture has developed whose mission is to foster their own interests, subvert the basic principles of the nation, and accomplish their aims utilizing the very freedom and rights extended to each individual by the system they seek to destroy.
This is a serious expose concerning our national character and the consequences of failing to heed the lessons of history.
Rating: Summary: More Books About Fear from the Right Wing Review: Once again, this immature writer, who is rather insane and paranoid, goes on to have us believe that "huge waves of terrorists are floating across the border". She writes about that deluded idea in this book, rarely mentioning any sense of truthful reporting, that the "terrorists" actually flew in quite easily and that America was not let down because of the "border" but because of the ineptness and stupidity of the FBI and CIA which spent billions on intelligence and yet could not figure that a plane could be used as a weapon. Most of the border crossings are from people who seek a better life from work across the border and there are a few petty criminals, but no terrorists would be stupid enough to cross. They infiltrate the country through normal means, any former soldier would know that, they try to blend in.
Rating: Summary: Michelle Malkin is a Right Wing Nut Job Review: Again, I also wish Amazon allowed one to rate with zero stars, this book stinks. Nothing new here, the same fear pandering Republican screed. If Malkin's parents were subjected to her wishes, she may not have grown up in New Jersey, her whole argument is ridiculous. Don't waste your money on this female troll, she couldn't write a decent book if her life depended on it. She really needs to keep the focus on herself and stop taking everyone else's inventory. Like the rest of the Wing Nuts, same asylum, different patient.
Rating: Summary: Most politically inept book of 2002... Review: This is easily the most politically inept political book of the year. It's paper-thin and is nothing more than a place for Michelle Malkin to spit out her juvenile rants. How did this lady ever get a job writing? Is she even a journalist, or just a blowhard with connections? This book is weak from start to finish and does nothing to further the national debate.
Rating: Summary: Accurate Account of Illegal Immigration Review: As a United States Border Patrol Agent, I can verify that the illegal immigration problem is worse than the general public realizes. Michelle Malkin's book exposes some of the uncomfortable truths that we, who work along the border on a daily basis, have known for a long time. Although we do as much as we possibly can, people continue to pour across the southern border and evade apprehension.
The Border Parol has been releasing illegal aliens from countries other than Mexico (OTM's) by the thousands over the past several years due to the fact that there is not enough detention space to hold everyone. They are released with a document called a Notice to Appear which states that they are to report to an immigration court at a future date and time. Our numbers have shown that less than five percent show up for their scheduled immigration hearings and are "lost" in the United States forever. How's that for Homeland Security?
Invasion describes many accounts of criminal aliens (the Lee Malvo sniper case happened after the book was published) who are flooding our local jails and prisons. I recently completed a jail inspection detail in which we encountered five to ten criminal aliens on a DAILY basis. The most common crimes were Driving While Intoxicated, Theft, Robbery, Assault-Family Violence, and Sexual Assault of a Child or Minor. Needless to say, our prosecution cases involving illegal aliens have reached record levels.
I hope that people will soon realize that there is a silent invasion of the United States going on right now. Those who are coming here illegally are NOT all innocent, hard-working, and respectful individuals as many immigrants' rights activists would have you believe.
Rating: Summary: Not the place for personal attacks, especially untrue ones. Review: For the record, the comments by a reviewer on this page (re: Michelle Malkin is an atheist) are untrue and without basis. The Michelle Malkin whose atheist website is mentioned is a welfare caseworker, not the same Michelle Malkin who authored the book. Misinformation like this is damaging and wrong, to say the least.
Additionally, if the reviewer (and several others) would quit spewing hatred and read the book with an open mind, he would see that the information is quite accurate. We do live in a free and open society and now we're paying the price for it. Freedom doesn't mean "anything goes" as many would like to think. It means we have to accept tough measures to keep it intact. Many of those measures are bound to be unpopular and controversial. The refusal to acknowledge this responsibility is one of the major problems with the secular, liberal notion that Freedom means having the right to do anything we want, whenever we want, with no consequences. Read the book, then wake up and smell the coffee.
Rating: Summary: The logic is, well, absent Review: I'm absolutely astonished by the fact that, if it weren't for the lax immigration policies Ms. Malkin so heavy-handedly derides, her parents would not have been allowed to immigrate here, and she would most likely be working in a putrid Filipino house of ill-repute servicing US soldiers. She should be eternally grateful that pundits of her ilk in the late '60s (who uniformly described anyone from that part of the world as "nips" and "slopes") didn't adversely affect the same immigration policies that allowed her own parents to "slip under the radar." Honestly, there is no logic here -- only fear, xenophobia, whatever you'd like to call it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Insight into Illegal Immigration in the USA Review: The author, Malkin, did her homework. Illegal immigration is a huge problem in the U.S. with approximately 8 to 11 million illegal aliens in the country. Malkin repeatedly showed how politicians on both sides have sold out national security for the sake of votes and cheap labor. As a result, U.S. borders are still wide open after 9/11 and immigration laws go unenforced by law enforcement. Illegal aliens take full advantage of the U.S. taxpayer, free healthcare, welfare, schools for children, and they even fill our jails. As much as 25% of Los Angeles County jail inmates are illegal aliens and almost 30% of federal inmates are NOT U.S. citizens. Don't forget that terrorists have taken full advantage of our laxed immigration laws. Don't believe the poor 1 star reviews of this book if all the reader did was use the "race" card. The author herself is the daughter of immigrants. THIS IS THE BEST BOOK TO DATE THAT COVERS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!
