Summary: outdated, but good for the time
Review: Obviously this is a free speech classic, for people interested in 60s pop radical lit in the Charles Manson, Iceberg Slim vein.

Those who just want the dope and bomb HOW TO info should do searches on "Uncle Fester" and "Loompanics". Using the Anarchist Cookbook instructions will kill you very much.

There used to be a note from William Powell (the author) on Amazon urging people not to purchase his book, but it's been removed, perhaps under pressure from Barricade Books. Powell sold the rights has no control over the publication, nor does he see any profit from its sale.

Summary: It just rules
Review: The only bad thing about it is that the things in it are hard to make for the average person who doesn't have access to volitle chemicals. ...

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Delicious and Nutritious
Review: A creative and sumptuous collection of the favorite recipes of famous anarchists. Some standouts here are Errico Malatesta's veggie lasagna, Kropotkin's Anarcho-Syndicalist asparagus, and Emma Goldman's party punch, guaranteed to get the people moving on the dance floor.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: With a barrelfull of salt, this is a good read.
Review: The recipes are innacurate and dangerous, the history of anarchy ends WAAAAY too soon (especially with the modern rise of anarchist thought and action) and the author has disowned the book entirely. Still, the book is worth a read if nothing else for the rants that are interspersed throughout.

Just don't try the recipes. There are better books out there if you want THAT.

Summary: Necessity of the "Anarchist Cookbook"
Review: The "Anarchist Cookbook" by William Powell may not be correct, ethical, or immediately practical in the manner that it percieves itself to be; however, it is necessary, especially in the current period of history. Now in America, political correctness and mass hype go hand in hand, and it is easy for the American public to ignore everything but speeches about heroes and CNN specials on terrorism. Not that the government and the mass media are never correct, but that it is dangerous to lock oneself into the narrow-minded perspective that those two institutions offer. To make a long rant short: the Cookbook is the type of radical perspective that Americans NEED when being bombarded with jingoist propaganda, and when their freedom to avoid the mainstream is endangered.
In addition to its present relevance, the book has historical significance. It represents, at least, an adolescene psyche during the Vietnam War, and an expression of anger. If the book's historical and psychological merits were to be emphasized, then the book would take on meaning that makes it very important as an educational resource.
As for the author, if he wants to break away from his past, he cannot erase it. I encourage him to continue to publicize disagreement with his teenage self, yet attempting to kill his opponent is worthless.
In short, I believe that the book's perspective carries enough importance to modern times to keep it available. The Anarchist Cookbook should not be taken out of print.

Summary: Freedom not to Speak
Review: Undoubtedly Mr. Powell's book had an important place in history.
It should not be banned for discussing the topics it does.
Though it may be dangerous, due to its errors, not to any
"establishment" but to readers themselves. However, Freedom
of Speech includes the freedom not to speak. Based on Mr.
Powell's brief history above, he probably has much greater
legal recourse than he realizes. (He expects the publisher
to explain his rights against them???? Some anarchist!)
But action is required to preserve those rights.
Mr. Powell should contact a copyright lawyer ASAP.

Summary: A Sensible approach
Review: Although I respect William Powell for withdrawing his admiration for his own book, the idea behind the "Anarchist Cookbook" is the perfect ideal for freedom of speech. It allows information to be given out the general public for them to decide how to deal with it. It allows the reader to set his or her own limits, and learn for oneself what is right or wrong without being pressured by societies values.

Summary: Why I Think The Anarchist Cookbook Deserves 5 Stars
Review: I don't think the anarchist cookbook should be used for any of the things listed in it, but I do think it was a very good way for William Powell to release his anger. One of my friends has tried to download this book on the internet because he thinks that being a "pyro" is fun. ... . He really needs help and I think that he shouldnt be allowed to read the anarchist cookbook.

Summary: FREEDOM OF SPEECH
Review: ALTHOUGH I CERTAINLY DO COMMEND THE AUTHOR FOR HIS "CHANGE OF HEART", AND MORE MATURE VIEWPOINTS, WE NEED TO REMEMBER A FEW BASIC ISSUES HERE. NAMELY THE FIRST AMENDMENT: FREEDOM OF SPEECH. THIS OBVIOUSLY APPLIES TO PRINTED MATTER AS WELL. I FEEL THAT THE AUTHOR IS PROBABLY TAKING ON SOME UNDESERVED GUILT DO TO THE RECENT TERRORISM TRADGEDIES. I PERSONALLY DID NOT LIKE THE BOOK FOR THOSE SECTIONS ON HOMEMADE BOMBS, ETC. I FIND THE BOOK VALUABLE FOR THE "HORTICULTURE" SUGGESTIONS, AND OTHER CREATIVE AREAS. IT IS A SHAME HE DIDN'T RECEIVE JUST COMPENSATION FOR THIS WORKS. TALK TO AN ATTORNY, PERHAPS THERE IS A LOOPHOLE FOR YOU!

Summary: Even the good guys need to read once in a while
Review: This book which was written 33 years ago is many things to many people.
As I AM A SOLDIER WITH 3(THREE) MILITARY JOB SPECIFICATIONS [Signal] MOS31-U {nuclear Biological & Chemical}MOS 54B and (Infantry)MOS 11B this book is required reading for urban asslat and defense of our great Nation.
A little common sense goes a long way for everyone. Be careful be wise as Serpants. Knowledge is what this book is giving. Not Common sense.

A comprehensive explanation of things you can do to relieve a little stress in you life and add some too.
IF YOU ARE NOT A CHEMIST DO NOT TRY ANY OF THE RECIPIES THEY ARE DANGEROUS AND WILL KILL YOU.

The Book is an icon of the 60's culteral revolution.
The Book is a Good/Bad book not to be taken lightly.
This book is Brutal and Loving. (self preservation is vital)
This book is just as important as the Art of War and no less dangerous.

A book of simple facts for the anti-anarchist as well.
