Summary: Excellent resource for improving your life
Review: I am a clinical social worker and have recommended this book to countless clients. It is an excellent introduction to cognitive-behavioral techniques and is helpful in dealing with a wide range of issues, from a breakup of a relationship to a job change to general self-esteem improvement. I especially like the exercises that give the reader an opportunity to try out the theories and apply them to everyday life. Some of her phrases (like "chatterbox") are corny and she repeats them too often, but try to look past it. The content is worth it.

Summary: Did nothing for me
Review: An over-simplistic approach - the title says it all. The author doesn't help you or tell you how to overcome your fears - she just keeps telling you "you can do it". She also refers to herself too often as her primary topic of research without taking into account that just because something worked for her it is not necessarily universal.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: For those who buy into the current American new agey affirmation laden culture, this book is great. Buy it, read it, and it may help you.

For those who question, think deeply, and are introspective try the more compassionate and realistic _Fear Book_ by Cheri Huber.

Summary: Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway
Review: The book is written by Susan Jeffers. It is a great self help book that can be referred to time and time again. The front cover says "How to turn your fear and indecision into confidence and action" and this is what the book is all about. S Jeffers talks about how fear can keep us from moving ahead in different areas of out like. She provides practical steps on how to confront ones fears and work through these. One of the great quotes in the book is "I'll handle it". This is a response one uses when life throws a challenge in ones path.
The book is a great practical read with lots of positive talk to take the place of our negative talk and chatter!!

Summary: Amoung the best!!
Review: Facing a tough situation in life? Maybe you're not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel? This book will get you through. Susan Jeffers has a lot of experience dealing with clients both one-on-one and in groups and it shows. Because of all of her experience and ability to understand people she is able to make all the presented info in this book very easy to apply. Ms. Jeffers makes many references to real people and their experiences, making the book realistic and useful.

My favorite chapter discusses the topic of making a no-lose decision. It has helped me MANY times when I have felt frozen by an inability to make a decision. The author frames such a situation in the light that, no matter which way you go, you will be rewarded with "goodies" in the end. It is not so much a focus on helping the reader iron out the details of a situation to figure out the most perfect answer or solution (which I so often TRY to do) but is about realizing that no matter what you decide, things will work out! It is refreshing for me as I can go crazy with over analyzing.

This book focuses not so much on changing your life circumstances but on changing how you VIEW things in your life. You are not a prisoner of life but just of how you view things. This is not new, I know, it certainly was not Ms. Jeffers original idea. BUT, what I love about this book is that the reader is given the TOOLS, or the how-to, on how to change his or her view. This is not just about soul-searching but, for me, provides instant relief time and time again.

The idea is that the more you FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY, the less you will be frozen by future fear. Ms. Jeffers also makes it clear that the reader is not alone in his or her fear. She states that even the people one might label as "successful" have felt fearful. These people have not, however, allowed that fear to stop them. They feel the fear but keep moving forward.

Summary: Soothing to the soul...
Review: I closed the book with a good feeling. Jeffers explains the fear (and everyone experiences it), techniques and skills to learn to FEEL it and yet do it anyway. Life is what we make it. Either remain a victim of fear for life or feel the fear and enjoy life's ups and downs. I choose to learn from things and enjoy life and people.

In the time of reading the book, I did 4 things that would have taken me "forever" to do. And I did them without thinking much of the 'what if ..'or the fear of what may happen. Almost 100% of what we fear never happen...we fear the past and what happen than. I highly recommend this book for anyone and everyone. I think everyone can benefit from it.

Summary: Words That Ring True
Review: I started this audio tape with a bit of "I heard it before". However, Susan Jeffers presents the concept of making life change with excellent examples and a matter of fact style. By the 3rd cassette, I realized that I was stuck and missing out on a life because I was taking things to seriously and was following the plan too closely. I am the person who perseveres until I get the outcome I was looking for. If I can't see the outcome before I start, I won't even consider taking the risk. Susan helped me to see things in a different light. I always believe that gifts come to you at the right time in your life when you're willing to take the lesson. I found Feel the Fear at the perfect moment for me.

Summary: Excellent Book !
Review: Thank you Susan. This is a wonderful book, one that we all should read and share with our family. You won't regret to buy this book, there is so much pain and fear out there that we all need a book like this one. It helps to understand ourselves better and thus understand other people.

This is a fine book.

Summary: My first and my last self help book
Review: OK, so someone gave me yet ANOTHER book to read...yawn, yawn. But, then I began to read it and I couldn't put it down. This book hits home with incredible accuracy - and I don't care WHO you are. I have already given copies to my husband, friends and mother. You MUST have your own copy as you will want to highlight, underline and read it over and over again. There are tid-bits of help for everyone. The views on how to conquer all your fears (and yes we all have them) will light a fire beneath you springboarding you into getting out there are conquering your dreams and goals! This book is a tool, teaching you how take problems and turn them into exciting learning experiences. As the book stresses and after you read it, "There is NOTHING you can't handle". If you want to have inner peace but don'tknow how to obtain it, then this book is for you!

Summary: This book just continues to help me every day.
Review: When we are reading and the words in front of us reflect our very thoughts and feelings, we must come to face the fact that the author is right on about something. This author taught me how to overcome a myriad of fears I hadn't even recognized I had until they were there on the page. I read it probably over a year ago, yet I still say the phrase whenever I need to: Feel the fear and do it anyway. One of the best self help books around.
