Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This tape is right on and very helpful. I have no reservations in recommending it.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read for Everyone Review: Regardless of your age, this book should be read by everyone. I was told to read this book by my supervisor, and now it has changed my life forever. The book discusses ways of overcoming our chatterbox. More importantly, it guides you to overcoming any fear you face. Now, I feel that regardless of what is thrown at me I can handle it. We should never have any fear!!!!!!! It's the best book I have ever read dealing with personal growth.
Rating: Summary: A realistic and a comprehensible guide for self-improvement Review: The author is well informed on fear and how to "handle it". The tools she gives are useful and practical. This is not a book with an overnight solution to the problem of fear, rather it is a book with a "set of tools" that can be used throughout a lifetime. The book is a good investment.
Rating: Summary: The ultimate tool for dating distress Review: I am a dating and relationship coach and this is one of the books I always recommend to my clients. So many single people sit home, wishing they could find a partner, but they're afraid to take the steps they need to, whether that's going to a party, talking to an attractive stranger in the line at the grocery, placing a personal ad, whatever. Jeffers' step by step approach is the perfect antidote to fear, because it allows people to break down their resistance into small, manageable increments. And, as other reviewers have pointed out, this is a book that should be re-read once a year for a lifetime, because each time you read it, you tend to be ready to utilize another tool or technique.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book! Must buy! Review: This book is very motivating. A book I would highly recommend to add to your book collection.
Rating: Summary: A great read, again and again. Review: I bought this book over ten years ago, and have not been able to keep it on my bookshelf without someone borrowing and not returning it! I have bought five copies since the first one and it is a great read again and again, especially when you feel like you are losing your perspective on life.
Rating: Summary: Inspired and thought provoking guidance. Review: I first read this book when recommended in a stress management course I took in 1997. It provided tools with which to implement immediate stress busting change in my life. I had at that time made a promise to try and really apply some of the principals that gave the immediate relief constantly in day to day practice, and as Jeffers points out, retraining yourself isn't easy - but certainly well worth it. It may only be that after your first reading of the book you adopt a small percentage of the principals, but they are a small percentage that have enormous positive impact in the grand scheme of things. I am now re-reading this book, looking for new principals and tools with which to go forward in my life - Thus far, the book has served me well yet again, helping me improve markedly on the redesign of my thinking and consequently my life! This book has become a truely time honoured friend that serves as the most uplifting piece of support and personal encouragement that remains tucked away quietly in the corner of the bookshelf, waiting for your promised return.
Rating: Summary: I am grateful to Dr. Jeffers for writing this book. Review: I am in the process of changing my fearful, negative way of thinking. Dr. Jeffers' book is helping me in every step of the way. Her down-to-earth advice is practical. The tone in which she writes is warm and reassuring. I am glad I picked up this book.
Rating: Summary: I can now feel life's ups and downs and actually enjoy it! Review: This book has allowed me to begin my journey of recovery. Two years ago, I fell on an icy staircase and my life seemed to be ripped away from me. I was diagnosed with a mild traumatic brain injury, a fractured and dislocated jaw, cervical displacement, chronic fatigue syndrom, fibromayalsia, photobia, accute migraines, and an anxiety disorder (to sum it up). The book was lent to me by my psychologist. As I read, I began learning that fear is a universal emotion, which cannot and should not be avoided. This concept changed me forever. I no longer feel inferior to others. My expectations have altered in ways which will allow me to EXPAND and to be who I truly want to be. Searching for inner satisfaction can be simplified using Susan Jeffers grid concept. Addressing each square with areas of my life, scheduling time to spend on each of them, and commiting myself to this ritual has proved priceless. I can never overlook parts of myself, which need my attention. Avoiding the highs and lows of the emotional rollercoaster was depressing my experience of life. My injuries cannot be taken away, so I am left with a choice. I can run and hide, which only accentuates the pains. Or, if I want to improve, I can FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY!
Rating: Summary: A Big Help in Desperate Times Review: Plugged me into what I needed to do to calm down and relax. I liked the size and print of the book. Recommended it already to others. Good book therapy. I'm practicing the ageless techniques. Good reminders for mind battles. Mades me concious of my thought patterns.
