Rating: Summary: Sylvia tells it the way it is Review: Some things are secret for a reason. That's obviously the way it's meant to be in the divine plan. Maybe we, as a human race, are not yet ready for the information in this book. It's all a question of humanity's growth. Just as a five-year old isn't ready to hear about quantum mechanics and the structure of the universe, so we (or at least the masses) are not quite ready to hear about details of life on the Other Side and our soul's journey beyond the veil of death. For most people, Browne's insights will appear absurd, or even "wrong". For the enlightened few, it will be music to the ears.
Rating: Summary: Alive and Well While Living on the Other Side Review: This is one of the most comforting and knowledgeable books about what happens to our loved ones when they pass over, and what the other side is all about. I have recommended this book wholeheartedly to people I know who are grieving the loss of their loved ones, because this book will bring them peace. It is important to remember as this book points out that WE judge our own selves when we cross over during our life review. We see and feel the deeds we have done. We get to actually live a life in non-physical form, and can at any time visit our loved ones here on Earth. I have zero fear of death because of this book, combined with a close relative who went to the other side, and came back when they were brought back to physical life on an operating table. Much of the information in this book is exactly as my relative described. If you know someone who is in grief, recommend this book, because it will take away their pain from newfound understanding that their loved ones are as alive and well on the other side, as they were in their life on Earth. Highly recommended! Barbara Rose, author of, 'Individual Power' and 'If God Was Like Man'
Rating: Summary: A most bizarre view of heaven Review: In the interest of full disclosure I should point out that I am an atheist, but I read this book as objectively as I could and found that heaven as described in the book to be highly non-credible and casts doubt on the veracity of Ms Browne's psychic experience. I will let you judge for yourself by describing several aspects. If these seem reasonable then by all means go out and buy the book. Otherwise save your money. 1. All people on the other side are 30 years old, even those who never attained that age on earth. 2. People have all of their body parts but they are non-functional - lungs do not breathe and hearts do not beat. 3. You can eat if you want to but it is not necessary. The good news in this is that you never have to go to the bathroom and presumably never gain weight. 4. You will never find out which, if any, religion is the correct one. People of all religions continue to worship as previously. No example is given of what a minister has to say to a congregation that has already been saved. 5. Everyone speaks Aramaic which was the general language of the Middle East before Arabic, was probably the language of Jesus and has not been in general use for 800 years. Presumably the language has been kept up to date with additions for the terms for bicycle, ice cream and nuclear energy. 6. Plants and animals do not die and do not reproduce. Plants and animals at all stages of development remain as they are forever in a Disneyesque animatronic display. 7. Most people live in houses that they mentally project. 8. Most people work at regular nine to five jobs, presumably as a way of giving themselves something to do. If you find that this has the ring of truth or if you find it even more humorous than I do then rush out and buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Oh please! Review: Sylvia is psychic but she makes up a lot of stories for sales. Which just means she's misusing a gift given to her. Shame on you Sylvia!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: An enjoyable Tour! Review: Ms. Browne writes in an accessible, no nonsense American style tinged with a bit of cynical humour. This is a book you will enjoy sharing with friends as it is a great conversation starter on the subject of life's mysteries.
Rating: Summary: Great Confirmation! Review: I enjoyed "Life on the Other Side" because the descriptions of the afterlife in it were very similar to what I saw in a spiritual experience I had long ago. I found the book to present afterlife concepts accurately according to what I know. It is nice to see confirmation like this!
Rating: Summary: An eye opener Review: I ate this up, its quite good, whether you believe it to be purely fantasy or truth is your decision alone, but the whole book can not be totally dismissed, many things make sense to me. Besides the bads rating reviews ive read, i feel shocked to find many people dismissing miss brown as false, is it not knowledable to except the fact that none of us really knows, im at a weigh line for that one. I also find it funny thay some reviwers said that if we want the truth about heaven look in the bible...whos's truth yours all the bibles???? no one takes in to account that the bible was written by man, sure perhaps the knowledge was from god, but over the years i believe the bible was tainted with mans disposition. So to say the bible speaks holy truth is like saying pigs fly. One must weigh there own truths with the books they read .I hardly wish to take into account that heaven is some so called place where we bounce on clouds all day, like snuggly care bears, with wings mind you!!! lolol Miss browns opinions seem a bit more educated, or shall i say down to earth!! The book provides a very interesting outlook from outsdide the close-mindedness box. Take a look at it, you may be suprised
Rating: Summary: This book will change the life of an open-minded person. Review: If you keep an open mind, this book will change your life. It offers a very interesting perspective on the universe and our functions in it, surprisingly similar to my own previous beliefs. If for no other reason, it's worth the interesting topic. I only gave it four stars because certain parts of the book seem just a little too far-fetched or maybe a little too specific in descriptions, but hey! She probably knows a lot more than I do, anyway.
Rating: Summary: Great story, but is it for real? Review: I bought this book the first day it came out and I was very into it. I have everything by this author and was always a huge fan. But recently I've been wondering about her credibility, and "psychics" in general. I've subscribed to Sylvia's newsletter for the last few years and almost NONE of her predictions come true. In fact, only after something happens does she publicly say "I knew it all along". But she's so darn convincing! She seems to know very well what she's talking about which means one of three things: 1., She's for real; 2., she's schizophrenic and belives herself; or 3, (and I hope not!) she's making it all up. Most of the questions she gets on Montel are "What's my Spirit Guide's name?" and "When will I find true love?", and can easily be answered falsly by anyone. Also when she describes a departed loved one, she describes them very generically. Recently on Larry King a woman asked about her late grandmother, and Sylvia asked "Was she a short woman who wore her hair back?". WHAT OLD LADY IS TALL WITH LONG FLOWING HAIR??? Sylvia said Grandma sends birds around her. Well you're bound so see birds sooner or later! She also uses attractive words, like "CRYSTAL green", and "sparkle" and "glisten" when telling her tales. And has anyone ever had a personal 30-minute reading with ANY of these psychic authors? When I call their offices, they're always "too busy" on lecture tours or promoting their latest book, to do readings. Something's fishy... Anyway, I would LOVE to take Sylvia's word as the absolute truth, but my own intuition is skeptical. I'll still continue to read them though, just because she's a great author, or I'm a sucker.
Rating: Summary: Great Reading Review: I believe that everyone should experience this book. I'm not a New Age nut or anything, just someone seeking answers to life's questions. This book truly helped answer the questions I've asked myself and my parents since I was a child. Except the book gave me clearcut, sensible answers. Get the book, read it, and try to have an open mind to some of the fantastic descriptions Sylvia talks about. Nothing is impossible!
