Summary: Zarek Will Steal Your Heart....
Review: DANCE WITH THE DEVIL was a fantastic Dark-Hunters novel! It takes place right after NIGHT EMBRACE and is the story of ex-slave Zarek - the most hated Dark Hunter in existence (and my favorite) - and how he finds his humanity in the arms of Astrid, a blind nymph sent from Mt. Olympus to judge him. If Astrid finds nothing redeemable about Zarek, then he will be executed - that is, if an Ancient Evil doesn't get him first.

Zarek's past is so sad there were moments I actually got teary eyed. And I loved Astrid. She didn't back down from his surliness or threats, and was one of the most levelheaded heroines of the Dark-Hunter novels I've read. You can actually see these two fall in love.

The secondary characters were also fun. Acheron has a huge presence in this book (yeah!), and we are introduced to his demon "daughter," Simi, who made me laugh often with her childish desire to barbeque everything in sight, including a certain nasty Greek goddess. Astrid's wolf, Sasha, was also cool. I wonder if he'll get a book of his own.

The secondary characters didn't overwhelm the romance (like in NIGHT EMBRACE), but rather added to it. This was a great story. Probably the best Dark-Hunter novel, in my opinion (though there are plenty more I still need to read).

DANCE WITH THE DEVIL is book #3 of the Dark-Hunter series. It would be best to read the others that came before it (the prologue FANTASY LOVER, #1 NIGHT PLEASURES, and #2 NIGHT EMBRACE) since the author does not dwell on backstory. Also, my edition of DANCE WITH THE DEVIL came with a bonus short story called "A Dark-Hunter Christmas," which features Simi in it.

Summary: Calling all Mythology and Paranormal Lovers!
Review: I loved this! It's only the 2nd book in the series I've read - the first was Night Play which is only mediocre at best - but now I will have to read more books in the series. I love how she ties in classical mythology with the vampire and werewolf myths - it really works here. In this book, the 2 main characters are likeable and their relationship and love scenes aren't gag-inducing like Night Play and others in the genre I could name. You really get into the story and care about what happens to the characters. The minor characters - like Acheron and Simi - also add interest to the story. I look forward to finding out more about some of these characters in her other books. A great read!

Summary: Kenyon Fan
Review: This is, by far, the best of the Dark-Hunter series. It's absolutely wonderful. Kenyon writes of Zarek and Astrid's story, and she writes it so beautifully that the characters become more than just a name in a book. I couldn't put this book down. The same day I got it is the same day I finished it.

I am a big fan of the Dark-Hunter series and can't wait until the one after "Seize the Night" comes out. I have every book of hers in the Dark-Hunter series and they are all wonderful.

Summary: Dance with the Devil - a Hot Tango
Review: This was the best Dark-Hunter thus far but I still have a few to go. The romance was HOT but it was the suspense that was gripping. I could barely put the book down at the end of a chapter in order to find out what came up next.

Zarek was such a project! and Astrid getting to him was a delight and agonizing at the same time. Acheron played a big roll in this and he is one sexy dude! You will love Simi and 'Scooby' was a howl!!!!

Nice, light read. Look forward to the next.

Summary: Gorgeous, tortured hero finally finds a star of his own
Review: Zarek's and Astrid's story is the forth instalment in Sherrilyn Kenyon's fabulous Dark-Hunter series and in my opinion the best so far.
In his human life Zarek was a slave and whipping boy to a brutal Roman general and was disfigured and tortured horribly before he was stoned to death for a crime he didn't commit. As a Dark-Hunter he is hated by all but one of his fellow Dark-Hunters and no squire will serve him after 900 years ago he has been banished for a crime he can't remember. After he has screwed up again during his stay in New Orleans (Night Embrace), he is sent back to the wilds of Alaska. Convinced that he can't be trusted among humans Artemis wants him killed and sends out the Dayslayer Daimon Thanatos.
Asheron, who believes in Zarek, intervenes on his behalf and asks that Thanatos be called back, at least as long as Astrid, a justice nymph and sister to the Fates needs to decide whether he really is beyond redemption. So far Astrid has never judged anyone innocent and after many disappointments she is in the process of loosing the ability to feel emotions. So that nothing interferes with her judgement, she is blind for the duration and has only a Katagari wolf for her companion.
Back in Alaska, Zarek is ambushed and beaten badly; he manages to flee and lands on Astrids doorstep, without knowing who she is. Although Astrid tries to push him, he never hurts her and though he is grumpy, Astrid is convinced that his brusque manner hides a compassionate heart. To find out what made him the aloof and cynical man he is, Astrid invades his dreams and discovers that every night he relives all the pain and desperation of his former life. Although Asheron has healed Zarek's body and he is gorgeous from the outside, inside he is terribly scarred from a lifetime of physical abuse, emotional betrayal and never having known any kindness. Astrid is touched by Zarek's unrelenting pain and violating her impartiality oath, she falls in love with him. But can she convince him that he deserves to have a star of his own?

This novel is very well written, fast-paced, emotionally wrenching and at times even funny, although over all it is rather dark in tone. The relationship between Zarek and Astrid is intense and heart-wrenching. There are also some cool supporting characters, like Jess Brady, Zarek's only Dark-Hunter friend, Otto, now squire to Valerius, whose story is told in the upcoming release "Seize the Night". The reader is also entertained by the antics of Simi, Asheron's pet demon and her voracious appetite and there are also a few more glimpses of the relationship between Asheron and Artemis but as always one is left wondering what really is going on between the two. Hopefully one day soon we will also get Asheron's story; I can hardly stand the wait.

Summary: A tortured past...
Review: led Zarek to the brink of madness. Some feel he long ago stepped over the edge. Now it's for Astrid to judge. In all the year's she's judged Dark-Hunters, she's never found one truly innocent...but she's never met Zarek. Is there more to him than the hard facade he presents?

Kenyon has a talent for writing books that will rip out your heart. This was one of her best!

Summary: Loved it!
Review: About six months ago I picked up my first Sherrilyn Kenyon book, Fantasy Lover. What an excellent book, and I must admit I was hooked. So I then grabbed the other books in the series and not a one disappointed, however, Dance with the Devil enthralled me. This story about Zarek was just amazing. SK always makes me laugh, she does an awesome job of putting her hero's with heroines that honestly seem to lead creedence to the fact that true love does exist. This story is no different. Zarek was such a tortured soul and Astrid was exactly the woman he needed. I can admit that there were times I teared up when reading this book and I dare anyone who read it to say that they didn't. This is definitely my favorite book by SK and I can honestly say that she has gained a fan. I anxiously await more stories in her "Dark Hunter" series.

Summary: Simi stole the show
Review: Okay, I know it has been said before but Simi totally stole the show. I am dying to read Ms. Kenyon's newest book simply because I love Simi. A demon who loves to eat people and things with barbecue sauce...a character straight from my own heart. I swear, I have almost never enjoyed reading a book more. Even while typing this I can feel my lips peel back in a demonic grin thinking about Simi's character. While I read what she said, I cackled in delight and vowed to keep on reading these books, just to read about Simi and learn more about her and Ash. I have to say, Ms. Kenyon has definitely hooked me forever with this character.

Summary: Meow.. Kenyon does it again
Review: Sherrilyn Kenyon has a nack at the tragic hero love stories and this one is a good example of this talent.

You really start to feel for Zarek in this book. You can't help but feel for him once you start reading about all the pain that he has gone through.
