Rating: Summary: The best of the Dark Hunter series so far Review: Nice to read a romance where the hero, although actually handsome, is so emotionally damaged by the extreme physical scarring he received as a slave, he persists in thinking himself as physically repulsive. It was also a clever touch to have the heroine be a nymph, leading to some clever scenes and dialogue about life on Olympus, which plays such a large part in the Dark Hunter series.
What puts this one over the top, however, is Acheron and his pet demon Simi. Always an intriguing person with a huge mystery about his background, powers and actual identity, in this book you not only learn a bit more about Ash but Simi gets a nice starring role at the end. To top off the value, there's a separate Christmas novella attached in which Simi gets center stage, finally and deservedly. She is fast becoming my favorite character in the entire Dark Hunter universe, which is saying something. Christine Feehan and Laurell Hamilton could learn a thing or two from Ms. Kenyon's ability to develop distinctly different characters in a complex alternative universe, without getting lost in excess.
