Summary: Howard's Best!
Review: As an avid fan of Linda Howard, especially Mr. Perfect and Dream Man, I have found Heart of Fire to be her best. It has sizzling romance as usual, but the storyline about the lost Amazon civilization is so real, readers will wonder if it is fact or fiction. Howard must've done her homework on this one. I was stunned at her detail and truly sorry when this one ended.

Summary: One of Howard's best!!!
Review: What is there not to love about this book? It had everything: an interesting and captivating plot, loveable lead characters, and well-written secondary characters. In too many of the romance novels I've read the lead male is strong, domineering, and constantly lording over the heroine and it's very refreshing to FINALLY find a heroine with some [you know what]. It's also great to finally have the woman win for once in a romance novel. Don't get me wrong Ben is still completely masculine and yeah he's arrogant, strong, and domineering, but Jillian she's more than a match for him and you love her for being a real woman who can hold her own. Heart of Fire is really a wonderful book and you fall in love with both Ben and Jillian. I had a smile on my face throughout the whole novel.

Summary: Linda Howard - always the best
Review: Courtesy of A Romance Review

Heart of Fire was the first contemporary romance written by Linda Howard. This is one of the stories of Ms. Howard that you won't want to miss. The story was full of fun, adventure, danger, and a lot more. There were steamy sex scenes between the hero and heroine; gun flights between good guys and bad guys; the mysteries of the lost city, etc. It was so well written that I felt like I were the one with Ben and Jillian when I read through the chapters! Heart of Fire is a highly recommended read.

Summary: One of Howard's Best
Review: this is an older Howard and if you are a fan and missed during first release grab it now. It is stunning!! Jillian Sherwood is a proper lady with a sensible background. But that proper lady is suddenly out of her norm when she ventures into the jungles of Brazil looking for the Heart of a Fire a rare red diamond. But she is not tea-sipping Miss, she is an archaeologist and willing to stake everything that the myth of the red diamond is real. Ben is the all man, river guide that think the myth a bunk but is getting paid for the trip. As someone in their party betrays them Ben and Jillian must band together to survive.

I LOVED these character, and it is Howard at her best!!

Summary: A Jungle..A Lost City..A Rare Red Diamond..Greed...& Love...
Review: Wow is about what sums up this very unique book. Filled with adventure, mystery and very steamy romance made this a keeper for me.
It is rare to come across a book that takes us to a place so wrought with mystery and danger yet brings in the element of romance and love. Ms. Howard hit the perverbial nail on the head with this one.
Taking place in the deep recesses of the Amazon Jungle, one woman is on a quest to clear her father's ruined name. She must prove to the world of archeology and herself that the Lost City of Stone really does exist and so does the Heart of the Empress, a rare red diamond.
She also must prove that a tribe of women warriors existed behind those walls...the mythical Amazon Women of long ago...Not able to finance the trip herself, Jillian Sherwood must enlist the help of her estranged brother Rick Sherwood. Having not spoken in years, he agrees, only because the call of a rare red diamond and treasures will make him a rich man. He in turn finds a very wealthy and scrupulous man bent on taking the riches for himself who is willing to finance the trip.
Ben Lewis is surprised to see an American woman with two very greedy looking and dangerous men wanting a guide to bring them into the uncharted recesses of the Amazon for two months, maybe longer. Seeing they will find any guide to get them in, he is intrigued and agrees to the trek, only thinking of the mysterious reasons behind the trip and how the woman surely was in over her head and in a lot of danger.
The lure of the City compells them to keep going even though pirates inhabit the rivers, smugglers are everywhere, danger is lurking around every corner and the unknown areas of the jungle maybe their final resting place...that's if the other people on the trip don't pick them off first...
Greed, desperation, lust and love abound in this wild story. A very exciting rollercoaster ride into the depths of South America and to the Lost City filled with secrets. Who can you trust is the question as they keep going, getting ever closer to the answer.
Two soulmates unite in an explosion of lust, then love. But can they trust one another? Will the lure of 'The Empress', The Heart of Fire, kill their love?
Don't miss this one. This is a definate keeper! Ms. Howard always brings us on a unique journey and keeps us guessing and as always, her love scenes sizzle off the pages! Ben is what every woman fantasizes about and Jillian is just your average woman that can carry a pack weighing a hundred pounds deep into the snake infested jungles of Brazil....lol, no whiner here. She is a very strong woman and is capable of taking care of herself and Ben if need be.
Ben is alpha-male, but repsects her and is amazed at her capabilities. Very sexy and entertaining read!

Summary: The Excitement never Ends!
Review: I loved how this book all started and I couldn't put it down! Ben and Jillian really get to know each other under the harshest of circumstances. Ben, being a ruffian, usually doesn't see anything special in prim and proper types, but he can't seem to help the pull that Jillian has at him. Great book to curl up to and get pulled away to a different land.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I am new to Linda Howard's books, and I loved this one. Lot's of details without being flooded with useless information. Descriptive, you can almost feel the heat. They only thing I could say that needed improvement would be the love scenes. I was very anti-climatic (excuse the pun). She built the anticipation up between the two main characters but the when it came to the act, it was bland and boring. But I would definitely buy another book from Linda Howard.

Summary: Average at Best
Review: One of Howards earlier books ('97) this is not in the same league as her more current titles such as Now You See Her ('99).

I thought both the story-line and the characters where weak, the only thing compensating the story where the infrequent references to the myths of the Amazon.

This book will be heading to the second-hand store.

Summary: This one sizzles!
Review: Oooh baby this one is hot! I loved the tropical setting, I've never read a romance located in the Amazon, I literally clung to each page of this story. Ben is cool, very primal, Jillian is independent, a survivor. Linda Howard has never let me down. She gives us a heroin that is doing fine without a man, but when she meets Mr. Right she can't live without him. I'd recommend her to anyone, as a matter fact I do!
