Rating: Summary: Cute read... Review: but didn't seem to have much more than a drag along plot. I love reading about friendships but I look for books with a little more depth and meaning! I do want to read the others though...
Rating: Summary: If I could give this book MORE than 5 STARS, I would Review: Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. This must be one of Marian's best books written. I have read a couple of her books (Rachel's Holiday & Watermelon) and I was just blown away by this story. I do love Marian's style of writing, but at first I was a little hesitant about reading this book because it wasn't about the Walsh family... I am so glad I didn't follow through with my thoughts!! This novel gives insight to such an important purpose of everyday living that many people take for granted/ overlook- which is life itself; how we act, what we do with the talents we are given, and how we listen to our family and friends. This novel is a must read. I never thought I could have been so touched by a book.

Rating: Summary: "You'll laugh, you'll cry...." Review: I am a big fan of Marian Keyes and this book is probably one of her best. I could not put it down. While there were some low points in the characters' lives I thought that this made a more realistic story. I think that the characters went through things that everyone of us has gone through at some point or another in life. Excellent book, and not to sound tired and trite but "You'll laugh, you'll cry..."
Rating: Summary: Funny and touching Review: I bought this book because I'd just read something much heavier, and I wanted a light read. I pretty much got what I wanted, until half way through, when I realised that this book had more guts than other 'chick flicks'. Marian Keyes' description of the effect of illness on friends was delicately written and well-researched. The characters are believable, for the most part, and the story is gripping. Highly recommended for a fairly easy read.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic book! Review: I enjoy Keyes books and felt that this one and Sushi for Beginners shows her best work. This book deals with some real life serous matters, but allows the reader to relate to the three main characters. A rather quick read, and especially good if you are currently dealing with a difficult situation in your real life.

Rating: Summary: A very good read Review: I have a particular affinity for character driven books that take place in England (ie Bridget Jones Diary). I highly recommend this one as it has so much to offer, great characters that you care about, humor and sadness. I found my self laughing out loud at the exploits of Katherine, Tara, Fintan et al. and when the trauma of illness comes into their lives I rode the roller coaster of emotions with them. Marian Keyes has a great ability to convey her characters motivations and foibles without sounding cliche. Her descriptions are original and witty. I loved this book.
Rating: Summary: She does it again, and again, and again... Review: I just love reading a Marian Keyes book, and Last Chance Saloon was no exception. I've saved this book on my shelf for a while hoping that if I waited long enough, there would be another book by this talented author to replace it with. Well, it didn't happen and I was in the mood for an uplifting, spirited read, so I picked it up. Ms. Keyes manages to create compelling, loving, genuine and fun characters with every book she writes. She writes about people that I would want for my own best friends. And she writes about people with characteristics and flaws we can all relate to. This particular book is about a group of thirty year old friends living in London. There's Tara, who is in the wrong relationship because she'd rather be in something than alone; Katherine, who would rather be along than get hurt, and Liv, who is perpetually dating a married man who keeps promising to leave his wife. Then, there is Fintan, their gay, fun and eccentric friend who faces a health scare that changes all of their lives. If you've never read a Marian Keyes, don't wait another minute, get them all! If you just haven't read this one yet, it's a must read. I envy anyone who has an unread book by this amazing author. My only complaint is that she doesn't write them fast enough! Although the "chic-lit" genre has gotten a bit overdone, Ms. Keyes is a writer you can count on for keeping it up to par.
Rating: Summary: Keyes just keeps getting better Review: I loved this book! I like all of Marian Keyes' books, but the characters in this one really reached out of the book and pulled me in. We watch three friends as they make their way - together - through a difficult year; we also get to revisit the 80s when they were adolescents in dull West Ireland, before they escaped to London. These people are so real, so imperfect and lovable, that I had to keep reading to find out what would happen to them. The end was not predictable -- well not really, and I enjoyed every minute of the book.
