Summary: Just great!
Review: This is not your average bodice-ripping romance novel. Instead, it is an emotional, passionate, and entirely satisfying tale of a man's struggle to free himself from his unhappy childhood and the father who never accepted him. The emotions in this book seemed real, not wooden, and there was believeable character growth on both ends of the romance.

I would heartily recommend this book to all comers. It is both sweet and sensual, with fairly smooth writing and a fast pace. I was pulled right along, and I loved every minute of it!

Summary: Touching, funny, and great!
Review: This was my first Julia Quinn book and I really enjoyed it! Simon's childhood was so sad and his ability to overcome his difficulties was very touching. Daphne is a great, caring person and beautiful inside not just outside. Her family is a riot. The contrast between her family with brothers, sisters, lots of verbal combat and Simon's non-existence family is effective and dramatic. She helped to bring him into her family and world... It was very touching. Love the gossip columnist - have been thinking about who she may be through out the novel. Perhaps the mysterious author will appear in the next novel also?

Summary: A Good Quinn Book
Review: It was enjoyable, as are all her books. Not a bad way to spend a quiet Saturday.

Summary: A Keeper
Review: This was my first Quinn book and I was delighted. The dialog is natural, fresh, and catches the reader by surprise because it reveals so much about the characters. The characters themselves have some depth, which makes a reader care about what fate the author will assign them. The book is also sensual without being so explicit that nothing is left to the reader's imagination. I won't summarize the story - that can be read elsewhere - but suffice it to say that I find myself hoping we'll all hear about the other characters in separate books, which is usually an indication that the book is a keeper. After all, if there are sequels, I'll need to refer back to it to refresh my memory! I happily recommend this book to anyone who wants to get lost in a love story and feel good afterwards.

Summary: Really Enjoyable
Review: I don't normally read this type of book but I very much enjoyed it. Read it in one sitting and will be looking for more of her books. Good "bathtub" book.

Summary: Light, fun, and humorous stuff
Review: Julia Quinn gets better with each book, and "The Duke And I" is definitely her best effort so far. I admit I find the much heralded "tortured and hence most developed" hero a bit of a stock hero, but it is Daphne who charms me, as did her family of fun and hilarious people.

Hence, with great repartees and humor, the romance in "The Duke And I" clearly sparkles. If one is in need of laughter and love, TDAI fits the bill perfectly. Are Daphne's siblings getting their own stories? I can't wait.

One star get deducted for a scary ten-year old that speaks as if she is possessed by the spirit of Queen Victoria.

Summary: Funny and Touching
Review: This was a great book. It first caught my attention by being funny. Then it touched my heart. I watched a proud man afraid of being hurt grow to realize that you have to take the risk of being hurt in order to be in love. This was a very wonderful and special book. It is now part of my collection and I am recommending it to my friends.

Summary: A new favorite
Review: Is it possible that Whitney my Love could get booted out of #1 as my favorite book? Could it be true? Maybe. Possibly. Definetly!

Julia Quinn's The Duke and I had me mesmorized, I couldn't get my nose out of this book! It was that wonderful.

Daphne Bridgerton's goal in life is to marry and have many children, just like her mother (she had 8!). Simon Bassett, the handsome Duke of Hastings, goal in life is not to marry and never have children.

When Daphne and Simon are introduced sparks fly. They are instantly attracted to eachother. The problem is Simon is best friends with Daphne's oldest brother Anthony, therefore Daphne is off limits.

Daphne and Simon strike a bargain. Simon wants to keep away from matchmaking Mamas and Daphne wants other eligible bachelors to notice her. How else than to have her name linked with the Devestating Duke? So they strike a bargain, they would pretend to be attached. Matchmaking Mamas would leave Simon alone, eligible bachelors would notice Daphne.

The plan works brilliantly. The only catch is Daphne and Simon fall in love.

This was one of the best regencies I have read in a long, long time. I am immediately going to go out and get all of Julia Quinn's books I can get my hands on.

Please please please I hope that Julia Quinn writes about the rest of the Bridgerton's. There ARE seven more, but Anthony, Benedict and especially Colin are my favorites.
