Rating: Summary: HAHAHA.... Review: I give it a 4 stars because I like her 'truly madly yours' better. But, it doesn't mean that this one is not the signature of Rachel Gibson as well.. Believe me it is so funny that I won't suggest anyone read it in public transport... because, it is quiet embarassing when you try not to laugh but do anyway. Watchout on the scene when Gabrielle invites the macho detective to dinner and has him cook for BOTH of them... and also, the conversation in the dining table... hahaha...
Rating: Summary: Girls, Im loving Rachel Gibson!!!!! Review: Ok, OK, so this was no "See Jane Score" , but oh was it fun!! Rachel Gibson is a new find for me and Im soo excited about it!! What a delightful author!! I absolutely loved Gabrielle..she was sooo likeable...I was rooting for her from start to finish..I will say that at times Joe drove me crazy, but for the most part I adored him as well..this was a thoroughly enjoyable book and I would recommend it without hesitation!!
Rating: Summary: I love it! Review: I love these characters. I know that "opposites attract" is a cliche, but it works in this original, sexy, cute romance. Joe, the hero, is an alpha male, the typical Neanderthal type who likes his women to be petite homemakers. Gabby is a new-age, yoga-love, incense-burning babe who is usually drawn to more enlightened types. In other words, they're each other's worst nightmare --- or perhaps they're each other's dream come true. The sexual chemistry is there from the start. Joe manages to control is urges because he's too profession to do otherwise. However, when the case is closed, he goes for it . . . only to do the typical, knuckleheaded male thing and convince himself that she's not right for him. This is a terrific, funny romance novel that you'll have a great time reading.
Rating: Summary: Not Like Her Others Review: I Love Rachel Gibson's books. I've read every one of them, but I have to say I was rather disappointed with this book. It was very slow and very difficult to get into. If you want to read a good Gibson book, read "Truly Madly Yours" and "True Confessions". Those two books were awesome and really kept you on your feet.
Rating: Summary: Not a fan of Gibson Review: Like most of Gibson's novels there was nothing special about this novel. I definately do not recommend reading it. Very boring.
Rating: Summary: Great Laughs!!!! Review: This book was great and filled with laughs. Then again what do you expect when you mix a New Age thinking (well... sometimes), lapsed vegeterian, and a cynical detective who has a Jerry Springer loving bird? Joe and Gabrielle are as opposite as can be and as a result there is plenty of laughs and good times, and of course romance. This book is a must read for anyone who loves happily ever afters with plenty of smiles.
Rating: Summary: Kind of fun and light Review: Not really my type of book, but I was recommended Rachel Gibson along with a whole stack of other authors (Jennifer Cruise, Susan Andersen etc) and I have to say she is by far my favourite of them all. She writes with a nice light hand, and she almost brings the most unbelievable situations to the realm of possibility. This book ended up being quite an easy read in the end. Its about Gabrielle Breedlove, a bit of a new-age hippie. She might not be able to channel Elvis but she has a mother who probably can. In the meantime Gabrielle runs a small shop called 'Anamoly' and makes various essential oils to sell. Helpfully for the story she is tall and beautiful and runs like a gazelle. This is because she is up against Joe Shanahan, cynical worldly cop. He thinks Gabrielle's buisiness partner has been stealing artworks - most particularly a Monet - and while he doesn't know if Gabrielle is involved he is determined to solve the crime. Essentially there is a bit of police blackmail to get Gabrielle to cooperate and act as a mole to get Joe inside the store to search around while her business partner is out. This is one of the least believable parts (I think). First of all the tactics used by the police - very probably how they do work, but I just found it difficult to accept that Gabrielle would accept it - not try to call their bluff. And secondly - for the purposes of the book this had to be a romance so Joe had to pretend to be her boyfriend - but the way it happens is just way too pat and unconvincing in its logic - well to me anyway. However apart from the odd niggles like that it was kind of nice comfort read. Joe and Gabrielle (naturally) get more in touch with each other - and then finally touch each other and then there is the obligatory parting/misunderstanding whichs rends them asunder until finally they get back together again. What makes this story rather nice is that there is a parrot and Joe's rather nice family lurking around the outside. I was very disappointed that the mother and her enjoyment of garage sales wasn't made more use of. I have a feeling that might have been the original intention at the start of the book but the idea was either edited out or forgotten about later. Anyway - a nice read if you want a quick, fun romance.
Rating: Summary: IT MUST BE LOVE for Ms. Gibson's fun writing Review: When you pick up a Rachel Gibson romance novella, you are sure to find sexist antics, clever quips and a zany romance - and IT MUST BE LOVE is no exception. Gabrielle Breedlove owns Anomaly, a curio-shop who sells antique et al. When her partner, Kevin Carter is under suspicion of stealing the priceless Monet from a prominent public figure, Mr. Hilliard - she finds herself being confined by the zealous eyes of undercover crime property detective, Joe Shanahan. From then on, romance blossoms - with them battling their weird persona, one who believes in karma and psyhic against another who is of pure logic; a pacifist who is a vegeterian and one who is carnivorous and irresistibly sinful... The story and plot is predictible and hardly a crime/suspense element - it is thus extremely important that the book is kept buoyant by sassy, no-holds barred humour and bubbly characters like gabe's mother and Joe's family and amusing parrot, Sam - who with his incessant repetitive antics makes a great sideshow. Ms. Gibson crafts the novel with wicked sensual tension and chemistry, with the two clueless lovers in quest of love in their hearts, convincing themselves that is not the mere primal intentions that kept them together. IT MUST BE LOVE does not hold any surprises, but the way the couple quibble is uproariously funny - the energy is infectious and definitely romantic, making you believe that it must be love for her scintillating narration behind the magic.
Rating: Summary: It Must Be Love - Sexy & Funny Review: I only found out about this book because Amazon has it as a link for what Jennifer Crusie fans also read, and I'm so glad I gave it a chance (I figured I might as well since I'd already given in and read a Debbie Macomber book, which is also straight romance). "It Must Be Love" was very sexy & a lot of fun. There was no mystery or particular suspense, yet I found myself so into the book, I really didn't want it to end. The only thing that I would have liked better is not to have had Joe be such the stereotypical hulking muscle-man romance hero (she even refers to him as 'He-Man' like - YUK!). But Gibson makes up for that in my opinion by having such smart, and often witty dialogue. Really enjoyable read.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Romp! Review: I adored It Must Be Love! Gabrielle Breedlove first meets Joe Shanahan with a can of hairspray in one hand and an antique gun in the other. She thinks she's just bested a stalker. What she's done is assaulted a police officer. In order to avoid charges, she agrees to work with him as he investigates her partner. Joe is everything Gabrielle doesn't want in a man. He's suspicious by nature, he doesn't believe in karma and . . . well, she's just not interested. Gabrielle is everything Joe doesn't want in a woman. She's flighty, she talks of karma and signs, she's a lapsed vegetarian . . . well, he's just not interested. And all their disinterest leads to a wild passion neither can deny. What is this feeling that has sprung up between them? Join Rachel Gibson as she writes a story where Joe and Gabrielle discover that the feeling, IT MUST BE LOVE! It's a delightful story that will leave you laughing even as it melts your heart.
