Summary: This is the worst book I've read in a long time
Review: I bought this on a whim, partly inspired by the high rating given to it by other readers, but I was so disappointed in it. Granted, one doesn't expect a romance novel to be "War and Peace", but even for the genre, this was just so bad. The author has absolutely no sense of the manners and customs of the time....the characters seem to have stepped right out of a suburban mall. The plot is flat, the characters are so stock (he's gorgeous, she's gorgeous), and the heroine has all the character and will-power of wet kleenex. The book only seems to be written so that the author can string together a bunch of sex scenes, which are meant to be exciting to the reader, I guess. Again, granted it's a romance novel, but I still expect a story along with the requisite sex bits. Well, I just expected better. The time-travel romance "Dragonfly in Amber" is light-years ahead of this book in terms of intelligence.

Summary: Virginia Henley does It again!
Review: The Goddess of Death Although it was a very heartfelt book... I am truly sorry, Virginia Henley, but I did not enjoy this book as much as I would have liked to. I will not heartlessly destroy your perfect record of five stars by putting anything less, but I was slightly disappointed. There was not enough death. I loved Diana and Marcus, and I wholeheartedly approve of statuatory rape, but not enough people died. The plot was very complex and moving, but I kept up with you. I liked your style, and you developed your characters very well. Your timing in having Diana come into her sexuality was astonishingly perfect...I was captivated by the character from the first page, when she lovingly had a sexual experience reading a book. I feel many of your readers have these experiences, which sort of scares me, but that shows truly what kind of readers they are, and how they reflect on your incredible writing skill.

Summary: Amazing Tale of Sesual Power
Review: I have been so aroused at the erotic tales of forbidden passions separated by the endless unbreakable expanse of time. Diana, a feminine beauty of unsurpassed character and will, with Marcus Magnus, the strong, masculine owner of the most sensual body ever described. Oh, if only my husband could be such a strong person, with such an amazing soul and sense of humor. Whenever I close my eyes, I can envision his hard body enclosing mine. It's really upsetting my husband. If only I could get a couple of togas which only covered my pubic hair. Where the hell can you get those these days? I have been searching for some goddamn eating couches with sensual overtones for weeks now. When Diana died at the vicious hands of Magnus' evil homosexual brother Petrius, I refused to talk to my son Peter for three days. Never have I ever felt such an erotic power emanating from two, or rather, three characters. My heart fell in love with both Mark and Marcus, and I hope I find them inside of my husband. If I do, there are some exciting nights ahead.

Summary: A Definate Keeper!
Review: I have been reading romance books for years, but this is the first one I read that plays during the Roman Times and it was interesting to learn about this era. Ms. Henley definately did her research, her portrayal of this time history was facinating, not tedious and boring like other novels. This book was very sensual, mature, witty and the overall theme of time travel and reincarnation seemed very credible. I loved it! It was so heartfelt! Diana and Marcus's love transports through time.

Summary: fantastic read!
Review: This is a fantastic read for all seasoned romance novel readers who are jaded by recycled and predictable plots! Marcas Magnas is painted in such vivid and exciting details, I wished days and nights after reading the book that he's not just a by product of an author's imagination....

Summary: Thanks for generous praise!
Review: I am delighted that I am featured on the Amazon Romance Page for my time-travel ENSLAVED. I had always wanted to write a time-travel, but kept putting it off because I don't enjoy writing contemporary stuff. One day I was looking in a glossy magazine and came across an article about antique shops in Bath, England, that had authentic Roman artifacts. I immediately had the setting for my story. I would start it in Bath in Regency times and take it back to when the Romans occupied Britain. I adored Marcus Magnus and really had my work cut out for me to make readers accept what happens. I would like to do another time travel, but don't think my editor would go for it. Best always, Virginia Henley.
