Summary: romance at its best
Review: Meeting Belinda and Hawk was a delightful pleasure. They jumped off of the page and right into my heart. I am so happy that Ms. Foley continues in the style that works for her. So many writers change style after a few novels. The rape scene was such a suprise to me and the fact that her previous novels all had a darker side in the past of the main characters just lets the reader how talented that she really is to create such a moving story. I can't wait for the rest of the family to appear in sequel. Ms. Foley can you write any faster?

Summary: Gaelen Foley has just written the romance of the year!!!!
Review: Sigh, how can I describe such a wonderful book? How can I tell you all how a book can move me? How? It's just been about 10 minutes ago when I finished reading Gaelen Foleys' latest release: The Duke. I have been waiting months for it to come out and when it was finally delivered at my doorstep, in the middle of the December holiday chaos, I put off reading it. You see, I knew a book written by Gaelen Foley is good. She's in my auto buy list and I knew that if I start reading a book written by her I wouldn't want to put it down. Finally, I have a few days off from work and started reading it. Nonstop. Once I started I couldn't put it down. I was whisked away in the glittering world of Belinda Hamilton and Robert Knight, The Duke of Hawkscliffe. Why is this book so special? Because Gaelen Foley writes with so much detail and emotion it made me feel as if I was there myself. I could smell the gutter of London, I could see them dancing and hear the music and I could feel the fear, the love, the heartache they both felt. I could see, smell and feel it all.

In the year 1814, Robert Knight wants to avenge the death of his ladylove. To do this he needed the help of Belinda Hamilton, a demirep. Robert persuades her to help him and assures her that if he becomes his mistress, it will be in name only. Bel, who has a hidden agenda of her own, agrees and then the story begins of two people finally finding love.

You cannot help but fall in love with our hero Robert! He protects our heroine all through out the story. He cherishes her, he adores her and is in the truest sense of word her "protector". Belinda, is sharp, quick witted and very beautiful. Because of her past, she was forced to become what she is: a man's mistress. A lady deep inside, Belinda only wanted someone who will cherish and protect her. Robert gives her all that and Belinda doesn't disappoint us by being vain or weak. Gaelen Foley gives us with her book The Duke, two very strong characters. Their love grows gradually during the story. Their attraction for each other was so present and the love scenes in this book are just sizzling!

Oh, oh, oh, but what makes this romance so good? Again, because Gaelen Foleys' writing is so detailed that everything she describes virtually comes alive and steps out of the book. Her research is superb and all I can say is this: The Duke has become my all time favorite! This is my book of the year and I can only advise you to read this and once you open this book "you will step into a world of beauty and danger, sweeping passions and earthly delights". Don't miss out on an experience of a lifetime!

Summary: The Duke
Review: One of the best I have read in the many years I have been reading romance! Tremendously warm, witty, poignant, gripping & very, very erotic - with 2 wonderful main characters. I have never written a review on my other favorites but felt strongly enough about this book to do so. It will be happily read and re-read for years!

Summary: Original and wonderful!
Review: THE DUKE is terrific, and Ms. Foley only keeps getting better and better with each new book. I think this is her best yet, although I have a strong attachment to THE PIRATE PRINCE. Anyway, THE DUKE is the first in a series and features believable, interesting and smart characters. Oh, yeah, the hero is pretty darn sexy too! You will not be disappointed. Buy this book now before it's too late and you can't find it -- because it's a keeper and this author isn't afraid to take chances with style, story-telling or craft.

Summary: The Duke
Review: This was an excellent book. I am really looking forward to her others concerning the siblings. Gaelen really knows how to write her characters in a unique and interesting manner. If you haven't read Princess, I suggest you do so. It is the best book out of them all!

Summary: Another winner for Ms. Foley
Review: As with all her previous books, in "The Duke" Gaelen Foley demonstrates her superb story telling, character development and just plain good writing. I could not put this book down. There's no skimming pages here, skimming paragraphs or skipping lines, you will read every word of this story and be richly rewarded for it. Hawk is one of the great romantic heroes and Belinda Hamilton is everything you want and need a heroine to be. These two burn up the pages together. I only regret that Ms. Foley's next two books won't be out until 2002. It's too long to wait for an exceptional author who is nothing less than delightful

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An anticipated book
Review: I looked forward to this book because I enjoyed the trio of books started with the Pirate Prince so much. I read the trilogy after a surgery and hoped that Ms. Foley would soon write another. I wasn't disappointed as I am with some authors that don't get new ideas. This was totally fresh and was good from the beginning pages to the end. It's going to be quite difficult to wait until 2002 for her next two books in this new series. So far each of her books rates 5 stars.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: Set in regency England, shortly after Waterloo, The Duke is a rich entertaining Regency with a little different twist.Well developed characters and historical figures from the time adds to the overall pleasure in reading this novel.

An obsessed lord who loves her too much for her own good stalks the heroine, Belinda Hamilton. Out to prove she can't live without him, Dolph ruins Belinda's father, her finances, and any chance of making a respectable living for a gentlewoman in 1814. Reduced to selling oranges, circumstance causes yet another tragedy leaving Belinda to the belief that the only choices she has are to give in to Dolph, whom she hates beyond consideration, or to become a courtesan.

Meanwhile, Robert, Duke of Hawkscliffe, a paragon of all that is honorable and good, looses his one true love in death. When he discovers that dolph may well have been responsible for her death, he makes a bargain with Belinda to entrap Dolph into reveling his crime. By being Robert's mistress in name only, Belinda will be able to ultimately be able to escape Dolph's attentions when he his brought to justice for his crimes. Before the end, Belinda and Robert both find they must discover what is truly important and learn to live with each others own self before they can find happiness with anyone else.

Summary: A Must Read
Review: I abosolutely loved this book. It has everything in it, you will laugh, cry and become involved with the characters. I could not put this book down. I can't wait for the other siblings stories. The hero is tall, dark and handsome and the heroine is a strong woman, who never gives up. She stands on her own even when it is difficult. This author continues to improve with every book I read.

Summary: Exciting regency romance
Review: Although he never touched her, Robert Knight, the Duke of Hawkscliffe loved Lucy O'Malley from the first moment he saw her. However, the aristocrat showed appropriate behavior towards the wife of elderly Lord Coldfell. When she suddenly died, Coldfell tells Robert that he believes his heir, Dolph Breckinridge, killed his spouse, but the septuagenarian feels too old to retaliate. Robert picks up the mantel of vengeance.

Robert decides he needs to check his facts. When he meets Lady Belinda Hamilton at Harriette Wilson's house of ill repute, he is shocked by his attraction to her. He is even more stunned to learn how Dolph led to her ruin, rape, and her father's jailing. They agree that he will protect her and she will help him prove Dolph's guilt. However, neither one expected love to enter into the equation, but he is a rising politician who cannot afford the baggage of Bel as a spouse.

THE DUKE is an exciting Regency romance that shows the power of the aristocracy to ruin almost anyone including a peer of the realm. The story line uses mystery elements that enable the plot to captivate the reader. Using Wilson as a major player provides a taste of authenticity. With two strong lead charcaters and an enticing support cast, Gaelen Foley provides the sub-genre fans with a charming prince of a tale.
