Rating: Summary: STEAMING Review: THIS BOOK WAS SOOO GOOD. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. THERE ARE SEVERAL VERY STEAMY LOVE SCENES THAT MAKE YOUR PULSE RACE AND YOUR HEART POUND A MILE A MINUTE. THERE ARE ALSO SOME VERY EXCITING ADVENTURES THAT MAX & LOLA SHARE TOGETHER THAT MAKE YOU WONDER HOW IN THE WORLD ARE THEY EVER GOING TO GET OUT OF EACH SITUATION. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.
Rating: Summary: Delicious! Review: I loved this book! The hero, Max Zamora, is the best hero I've read in a long time! Lola is very likable too, and the plot is a refreshing change from the norm. It's a little slow at the beginning, but before you know it, you are reading the book at red lights (don't recommend this :) people honk when you don't go at the right time!) and drive throughs.Once more, Ms. Gibson provides an adventuresome, witty, and fun read.
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I'm glad I checked out this Rachel Gibson book. Max and Lola are a dynamic pair. Max is an ultra sexy Alpha male and Lola can certainly hold her own. I'm a big fan. Fans of Linda Howard and Jennifer Crusie should be pretty happy with this title.
Rating: Summary: Gibson shows her more serious side with Lola Carlyle Review: Lola Carlyle is an ex-supermodel who has fought and conquered bulimia and low self-esteem only to learn that some very racy photos of her have been posted on the net by her sleazy ex. So she takes off in an effort to get away from the media backlash. While napping on a private yacht in the Bahamas, Lola wakes up to find herself and her dog Baby Doll kidnapped by some crazed lunatic who claims he works for the government. The lunatic's name is Max Zamora who really is a government secret agent. He realizes the yacht is occupied when it's too late to turn back. He's on the run from a powerful drug lord whose son he has just killed. Max has seen Lola before on magazine covers and like most men he has fantasized about the sexy Lola. However, right now Lola is pointing a flare gun at his chest and seduction is the last thing on his mind. That is until the flare gun goes off and destroys the yacht's controls and he finds himself stranded in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with a sexy ex-underwear model and her annoying yapping little dog. I enjoyed this book very much even though several of Gibson's trademarks were notoriously absent from the story. I consider her trademarks the quirky secondary characters that have populated her previous books and the outrageous, unconventional heroines . I would say that Lola is the most "normal" Gibson heroine to date. Which isn't a bad thing except that I think Gibson fans have come to expect the quirky heroines and the mucho macho heros. In that department Gibson doesn't dissapoint since Max is way macho and utterly delicious. As far as secondary characters go, the only one worthy of any mention is Baby Doll (the yapping little dog) who is quirky and adorable in his own way. I rate this book four and half stars because I very much enjoyed the romance and while I found Lola to be a bit dissapointing in the characterization department, I loved Max to distraction. I recommend this book to Gibson fans and for readers who are new to her. :)
Rating: Summary: A GOOD SUMMER READ Review: Frankly, I liked this book better than TRUE CONFESSIONS, although maybe not as well as her first two books. We have all the elements here - a hunky, macho man and a beautiful, fiesty woman. Personally, I think the book could have done without the dog, but maybe that's because I'm a cat person. With sparks flying in the love department and bullets, too, it's an enjoyable adventure. You might also want to check out LAUREN BACH's new book, SLOW HANDS or GLENNA McREYNOLDS' RIVER OF EDEN.
Rating: Summary: Sexy! Review: It sizzles and fueled my dreams for the night that it took me to read it. If you are looking for a quick read that invited laughter and heat, pick up LOLA CARLYLE REVEALS ALL.
Rating: Summary: Realistic heroine Review: Heroine: voluptuous Ex-supermodel Lola Carlyle is going through some hard times: the press is hounding her for gaining weight, her ex-fiancé is selling explicit photos of her on the internet, and she has just been accidentally kidnapped by a crazy man who commandeered the yacht she and her pet dog were snoozing on. Black ops agent Max Zamora is having a bad day: his mission to rescue DEA agents from the hands of a drug lord went south before it even started, he was brutally beaten and tortured, and though he thought things were looking up when he escaped his abusers and stole a yacht, it was only to have the bridge blown to smithereens by the put-out fashion princess who happened to be sleeping below deck. Adrift in the Caribbean, Max and Lola have only each other to turn to when the seas start raging and the drug runners start shooting. But can anyone save them from each other? What worked for me: I love tall, dark, and dangerous Alpha males, so Max Zamora was a winner all the way around! (Of course, he wasn't completely ruthless as was evidenced by his treatment of Lola's little yapper of a dog.) Size-wise Lola is a recovering bulimic who has packed on a few pounds to boost herself from vastly underweight to nicely voluptuous. The ever-catty press referred to her as being very large, but to my way of thinking Lola is built more like Carre Otis than Emme when it comes to supermodels known for their curviness. What didn't work for me: A few typos and uneven pacing made for a slightly bumpy read. The story started out with a bang, then screeched to a halt and idled for a while. However, once it picked up again there was plenty of sexual tension and dramatic suspense to be had. Overall: An enjoyable, steamy tale worth searching out, though it may not be suspense-filled enough for some readers nor humorous enough for others. Warning: there is coarse language in this book. If you liked "Lola Carlyle Reveals All", you might also enjoy The "Stephanie Plum" mystery series, "Plum Girl", "Carried Away", "Walking After Midnight", and "Looking for Laura".
Rating: Summary: Well-written but not a comedy Review: I've read all Rachel Gibson's books, and I can clearly say the others were comedies. But this book came off more like light drama for me than a comedy. That will be fine for people who prefer drama, and see anything that isn't full of angst as "comedy." However, if you are, lik me, used to Gibson's previous books, which are really funny, the comparison to what she usually does makes this book fall short. If it were her first book, I might give it 4 stars. Unfortunately for her, she has set up reader expectations, especially mine, that she will actually write comedy. In addition, I also don't personally enjoy books where the hero is wounded/hurt and is still feeling hot for the heroine, as in this one. I just don't believe it. Even if he is a former SEAL (and supposedly able to eat nails for breakfast), as this hero is.
Rating: Summary: Beach Reading Review: This was a fun book to read. Max and Lola are on a boat, alone, together and the boat wires are melted. Throw in an island, some drug running men, and a yippy dog and you have an exciting story. I felt the characters were believable and Max was certainly a fantasy man with all the flaws and character you could ask for. I particularly liked Lola. She was smart and interesting and fun and slightly dotty. Very fun. My only comment, I'd rate this a low five or a high four. I didn't think it was as steamy as advertised.
Rating: Summary: Great book and a quick read! Review: i LOVED this book!!! this is the second book i've read by rachel gibson, and all it's done is made me go out and buy more of her books! the hero sounds heavenly and he's met his match in the heroine. i've always enjoyed reading contemporary romance novels, especially those where the hero and heroine are such equals. i just couldn't put this book down - it was way too good and i couldn't wait to find out how it would end....way to go Rachel!
