Summary: Best of Class
Review: KINDLY REFER TO THE AMAZON.COM MASTER SUMMARY BEFORE READING THIS REVIEW.

I have read all of Rachel Gibson's novels. The first two were marvelous, the next two were...less marvelous. LOLA CARLYLE REVEALS ALL, Gibson's fifth book, is almost as good as those first two. Actually, heroine Lola Carlyle bears more than a slight resemblance to Georgeanne, the heroine of that first story.

Within the formula of romance writing, LOLA CARLYLE is extremely well-done. For more than half the book, there are just two characters, Lola and Max. (Okay, and Lola's cute little dog.) Nonetheless, once a reader accepts the premise, the story becomes neither strained nor implausible, and neither does the dialogue.

Gibson has done a great deal of research for this book, and it shows. In fact, the deeper details rival the kind of work that author Nelson DeMille offers, though he doesn't write romances--so, by definition, his stories are more complex.

Still, for the romance genre, Gibson's background research is unique and outstanding. One cannot read this book without learning a little bit about drug smugglers, government enforcement agencies, or modern-day pirates in the Caribbean. The biggest flaw in this book is that the information offered about Lola's career as a New York-based top fashion model is far more superficial than the crime subplot.

Everything considered, LOLA CARLYLE REVEALS ALL is a terrific read!

Summary: Good cover copy, but...
Review: The incomparable Rachel Gibson is back, but not in her most stellar form. Perhaps the pressure to deliver her wonderful tales faster has sucked some of the life from this story...? The back cover copy promises a steamy adventure full of mishaps that stem from one of a woman's worst nightmares-naked pictures on the Internet!-coming true; however, the story focuses on the hero's race to outwit and outlast his enemy. Lola's secret life-or rather, the unveiling of Lola-is an afterthought. Either Gibson missed the boat (if you've read the book, you'll appreciate the image) on plot focus, or the publisher missed it on the marketing angle. Whatever the case, the book would be more appropriately touted as a hero-focused romance. It doesn't hold a candle to Gibson's best, Simply Irresistible, but it is sexy and fun, and better than many others out there.

Summary: A Pleasant Diversion
Review: Ms. Gibson provided me with a pleasant weekend retreat. If you are looking for high concept this is not the place...yet if you like a fast and fun read this is a good bet. I don't want to spoil it for you but all I have to say is Max can use my toothbrush anytime. Also, I thought the description of Max's response to the final destruction of the Dora Mae was perfect. Why do men like to watch things be destroyed?

Summary: grows on you
Review: At first, this book turned me off because I felt the "forced together" part of it was too contrived and negative. However, the strength of Gibson's character development and writing in general helped this story gain speed. I felt these were mature characters with real issues. The best part is that I've actually thought about it afterwards (there's a shocker!). All said and done: it's a lot better than most in the genre out there.

Summary: O.K.
Review: I read this book over my last vacation. I usually read books in one sitting, this one took me three. I did not mind putting it down. It is o.k, and that is about all I can say.

4 days later the characters are already fading from my mind. I think this book is a time filler. I liked My Bodyguard by Michelle Jerot better than this one, if you like the protective guy stories, I would try that or Linda Howards McKenzie series,& Diamond Bay.

The underwear model is upset by nude pictures posted on the internet by her ex. She has overcome her bulimia and is kindnapped/comandeereed by a government agent that is "not a spy". Has a couple funny things happen, but like I said, I can not get past o.k. on it. I did not even think that they "fixed" her ex very well for posting the pics and o.k I hated her dog!!! I am a big dog sorta person, no Taco Bell dogs for me.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I was excited to read this book because it sounded fabulous but was filled with every romance cliche ever written. Lola had NO personality. It seemed like they fell for each other too fast and for no apparent reason other than they both looked really good. It seemed like she only like him because he saved her from peril (peril which he put her in.)

I couldn't finish this book. I just skipped to the end to see what happened.

Summary: Lola Carlyle misses the mark....
Review: I'll admit that I was disappointed and didn't finish the book. Lola is a ditz, but not a funny ditz. ... This book just went no where. But I did like the dog.

Summary: Were We All Reading The Same Book?
Review: After finding out that her ex-fiance has posted her naked pictures on the internet, underwear model turned designer Lola Carlyle needs a vacation to escape the stress and embarassment. So she goes to the Bahamas with her dog, Baby Doll, and while she is sleeping on a friend's yacht it is comandeered by government agent, Max Zamora.

After reading all the negative reviews, I almost didn't read this one but i'm glad I did. I did not think the heroine was stupid, and I did not think it at all unrealistic to freak out over some naked photos of her on the web. Those are pictures that someone she trusted took and she did not think they would become public. Underwear modeling is a little different than pictures becoming public that you absolutely did not want people to see. I thought Lola was a hilarious character with a quirkiness that makes her different from most heroines you read about.

Lola Carlyle Reveals All is a funny, light-hearted romance that is right up there with all of this author's other books.

Summary: Another winner
Review: When former supermodel Lola Carlyle learns that her ex-fiancée is selling unflattering photos of her on the internet, she is embarrassed and feels betrayed. She decides to hide out for a while on a yacht in the Caribbean. But when the yacht is "commandeered" by Max Zamora, Lola finds herself revealed in more ways than one.

Max works for the government and is on the run from a drug lord who wants him very dead. In his attempt to escape, he hops aboard a deserted yacht and heads out of the Caribbean--fast. Only the yacht is not as deserted as he thought. Now, not only is he running for his life, he is stuck with a former underwear model and her little yapping dog.

I loved everything about this book. It is filled with typical Gibson humor and sizzling sexual tension. If you like to read about fun modern women and hot hunky men, Lola Carlyle Reveals All is the book for you.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not bad...
Review: Great hero. Cute dog. Not a bad story, but I could've done without a lot of the research about various parts of the yacht and weapons/ammo. And the story should've ended once Lola and Max were off the yacht and back in civlization. (Everything after that was sorta anticlimactic.) I've read all of this author's books and will read her again so she's doing something right to keep me going back for more.
