Rating: Summary: Where's the Conflict? Review: I thought Fate lacked conflict, and was somewhat contradictory. It was more like going through your sister's diary, and reading the day-to-day entries. Whenever I came upon a new chapter I found myself hoping something, anything, would happen to put some tension into this relationship, although I am a sucker for happy endings. When that did finally occur it came from a most insignificant source. It's a good thing that so many people were so accepting of the two; but, it was also disappointing because it gave the reader nothing to look forward to in terms of a climax for the story. How can there be a big finish when there is nothing to lead up to it? I know it's possible, but pretty unlikely that everyone would be so much in support of this couple. Also, Vanessa supposedly felt the odds were too much against her and Scott; however, I saw very little indication of this. If most of the people throughout the story had no problems with the two of them being together, then she really had no reason to end the relationship. That's where the story became contradictory to me. The reasons for her calling things off with Scott were not valid enough. Why should she have cared if Scott's racist associate or a cousin disapproved of the relationship? As long as the people who meant the most to them approved she had no excuse. In addition, this couple was thrown together too quickly. Scott and Vanessa only met a few times when they declared their love for one another. I'm not saying that can't happen, but in a romance novel, I as a reader enjoy the gradual building up of a relationship between the two main characters. It allows me to sort of tap into the minds of both people. Fate didn't quite do it for me, but I applaud Ms Starr's effort, and look forward to her next novel.
Rating: Summary: Kiddie Story Review: I thought this was adult fiction... it's more like a juvenile story instead. I was disappointed, I kept reading & hoping it would get better. Scott and his girls deserved much better. Scott is a great character, he falls in love and is determined to be with the woman he loves. Vanessa left a lot to be desired, she falls in love with Scott but she's weak and immature. One of her most pathethic scenes: She leaves Scott a "Dear John" letter in his mailbox, then pretends nothings wrong when he drives up after she's done her dirty work, yet rather than talking to him about her decision not marry him she tries to get him to have sex in his garage instead.

Rating: Summary: Silly story Review: I was very disappointed after reading the good reviews and buying the book. The story is childish and unrealistic. There was no real depth to the characters.
Rating: Summary: It's about time! Review: I'm glad someone finally wrote a romance novel, that is actually about romance and not just sex. It tells about the true meaning of love. Fate provides a good moral standard for our young people to look up to. The characters get to know each other on many different levels instead of just a few. This book would not let me put it down. I could not stop reading it, I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a good, heart warming book.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful love story Review: If you like romance, and it doesn't matter what color they are, or if you like interacial romance than Fate is for you. Nessa and Scott make a beautiful couple. I have read this book over and over. I wish they had more like it.
Rating: Summary: Fate's the perfect name Review: That exactly what it is when Nessa keeps running into Scott a man she intersted in but if afraid to date becuase of his race. But as fate will have it they end up getting involed any way. I thought Vanessa was a nice change from most moody bad temper women of novels. She tends to be a tad on the flakey side but I like her none the less. This book is a cute read and that's about it. But sometimes it nice to read something just cute without too much depth. It wasn't the worst book I read but it could have been better. Still the ending was happy and I guess all's well that ends well.
Rating: Summary: ???? Review: There was a premise here but after that everything felt flat. Not much of a story or characterization. The two central characters were pretty two-dimensional and the development of the romance, yikes. The dialogue is pretty pedestrian, and the writing much too obvious--it spells out every detail ad nauseum. And the "little pleaures" gimmick-very weak.... Sandra Kitt is way above and beyond this effort.
Rating: Summary: Not Believable Review: These two fall in love far too quickly to be believable and the characters are not well-developed. How can this man be falling for this woman one year after the death of his wife? Is this rebound? Fast moving for sure, but too fast for my taste and not enough depth.
Rating: Summary: BUY THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW Review: This book was so good and so touching. When I was reading it I laughed lol on the subway (I'm a New Yorker), felt every inch of passion that Scott and Vanessa felt for each other. This book is tear jerking, heart warming, will make you just laugh your ... off. After you read this book read Rendezvous with Fate. Both books are so good, you will swept up in the characters and will not want the book to end.
