Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: Alright, I admit I'm a sucker for books set in Southern Louisiana. Tami Hoag's descriptive writing makes you hear, smell and see the setting. Having seen first hand what oil companies have done to Louisiana's wildlife, water and land, I found this central issue very timely. I liked the fact that Lucky's character was one of the "good guys" even though his past experiences made him pretend otherwise. Serena and Lucky would at first seem like an unlikely pair, but deep down their goals were very similar.
Rating: Summary: a riviting read! Review: As always Tami draws you in and doesn't let you go till the very end. Her characters are brought to life like magic. Romance, intrigue and crime mix together like a smooth cocktail. I cried when i reached the last page. I wanted more!
Rating: Summary: Wow! I loved it Review: I am a huge fan of Tami Hoag, no matter what anybody says. Okay, a few of her books I didn't like, but this one I loved! This is a must read and pass it on to your friends!
Rating: Summary: A must read. Hoag did an excellent job. Review: I checked this book out from my local library. When I started reading it, I found I could not put it down. Tami Hoag took me into the world of Cajun Country. Women dream of finding a man like Lucky. Tami Hoag makes that dream come true, just reading the book. I'm a Tami Hoag fan. She knows her romance. I try to read all of her books.
Rating: Summary: Beautifully written! Exciting, intoxicating, suspensful! Review: I could not put this book down! I felt like I was in the story myself. Tami Hoag always does a super job with descriptions. It has suspense, romance (great romance), greed, etc. I will probably read this book again. I wish she would write some other books like this one. Of coarse, I love every book she has ever written.
Rating: Summary: Her worst Review: I don't know what it is about this...i just didn't like it half as much as her others. ALl her wonderful and colourful characters are here as per usual, but the plot and book lacks a certain something. the people interact wonderfully, and the plot follows behind them. I think in this one she got the balance a bit wrong. The plot is good, but there is no real mystery. I wouldn't normally mind this, if it was only professing to be a romance, i would be perfectly happy to read it. But it wasn't. It was trying to be a crime thriller, and it just wasn't. Magic was a far better example of her when she wants to write a romance with a tinge of mystery. With this one, the balance is off kilter, and the thriller part of the plot seems 2d. Much more interesting is the fight for the native lands of the french triangle. If she had just left it at that, the book would have been fine. But she went a bit too far. Nonetheless, this still contains all her usual trademarks. An excellently evoked setting, and some great characters. She is the best character writer in the business. But hey, if this is her worst, and it still gets three stars, that must be a good thing, right?
Rating: Summary: SMOULDERING HOT ROMANCE REISSUE Review: I got acquainted with Tami Hoag in this fabulous book and the reissue is a testament to her popularity in the romance genre. The chemistry between Serena and Lucky is engulfing in the midst of Louisana bayou and lots of quirky dialogue and a plot laced with tension makes this a compelling read. I remember the confrontation between Serena and Lucky with her obstinate grandfather - and the issue of an oil-business conspiracy. It is fraught with emotional drama - where Lucky is put to the test by his demons and where both of them strives to love again. Lucky's lady is sizzling hot and it is just a pity that Tami Hoag has ventured into the contemporary crimes arena for I missed badly her good old solid romance and the reissue proves a stoke for nostalgia.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, a good read. Review: I have been a fan of Tami Hoag since reading "Night Sins". This book is not as thrilling, however it is entertaing with just enough Cajon spice. The characters are well-developed and likable.
Rating: Summary: A completer Disappointment Review: I have enjoyed her other books, somehow Romance does not go well with her. I was so disappointed, I am still reading it but just because I don't have anything else to read.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as her other works Review: I have read many of her other books and enjoyed them. This was just a romance novel, not much plot. I enjoy her detective novels and find the relationships in those to be more compelling because the characters have common interests and goals to bring them together. This time it just seemed like the 'kissing parts' were the reason for the book and the sibling rivalry plot was there to facilitate the kissing.
