Summary: If you are looking of a light read - avoid this "dark" story
Review: SEP's books are usually funny and the characters are so lovable. This story was depressing from start to finish. The heroine actually marries her onscreen "father". He is killed. She falls for another man named Eric who is accused of molesting his down syndrome daughter and other daughter. How much more depressing could this book possibly get? SEP should check her estrogen levels.

Summary: Tender and Sweet Romance (In a non-icky setting)
Review: Susan Elizabeth Phillips is my very favorite author, and while this is one of her older books, this is also one of her best. Honey Moon, the title character, is struggling to escape her poor Southern roots, so she enters her pretty cousin Chantal in the Miss Paxawatchie beauty contest, where the first prize is an audition in the new Dash Coogan Show. Honey and Chantal have to drive an old beatup pickup truck to Hollywood, and they meet up with Chatal's future husband Gordon, needless to say, Chantal is no longer interested in Hollywood or the Dash Coogan Show. Honey, in her desire to escape, becomes the one that gets the role on the show. As the show progresses, Honey meets some of the most influential people in her life. These people are Liz, the diva of the show who Honey hates to begin with, and she then turns into one of Honey's best friends. Dash, whom Honey looks to as almost a father, but then becomes a tender lover. However, the person that Honey most feels the desire to love and be loved by is Eric. Eric is one of the sexiest characters that Ms. Phillips has ever written. Eric is very loving towards children, and he re-enters Honey's life at her lowest point. The story between Honey and Eric is one that should not be missed. Personally, I think that Eric is very sexy and he reminds me of Lorenzo Gage in Breathing Room. This is a novel that should not be overlooked because the story is both tender and romantic.

Summary: This book began a quest for me to get and read all the rest.
Review: This book is so fast paced, that you can not put it down. The characters are human, funny, real. There are so many quirky details in the writing that it becomes very psycologically convincing. You are there. For example, there is one sceen where a dusty footed girl gets angry and kicks somebody who's giving her a hard time in the shins - she's wearing thongs. Tell me that doesn't make your toes ache for her. I love this book best of all of her tales. I loved Honey Moon, and the time that I spent with her. I was lonely for her at the book's end.

Summary: Terrible and depressing
Review: This book was awful! I've never read a book before where every character practically screamed "I NEED THERAPY!" The potential for a good book was there but Phillips killed her story with her deeply disturbing characters. What's the use in a romance novel if the ending isn't happy, but bittersweet?

Summary: Mature Readers, Read This . . . .
Review: This is a literature filled with deep human emotions and psychology. The depth and knowledge of her writing, characters, plot, dialogue, etc., were just amazing. The characters were very real, and I guess I'll just confess that I'm drooling and lusting over Eric Dillon. OMG! What a man!

The different characters he played around Honey, namely Dev, Patches, big-shot movie star and the real Eric, were just incredible. It takes a truly gifted writer to even begin to pull something like this off. Eric's different characters were extremely touching and entertaining.

I just wish there were more smooth transition and development b/w Eric and Honey when they met at the park as adults. It seemed a bit abrupt that he found her attractive all of a sudden after all those years of ignoring, avoiding and just plain not thinking about her. The sudden interest on his part, with no explanation for the attraction other than her pointy mouth, made the relationship seem shaky and a bit unbelievable for me for a long time.

However, there were so many great things about this book, and one of them was the healing through the roller coaster. We as human beings build or fix things all the time as a way of fixing a part of our soul. SEP really understands human psychology, children, the movie industry, the South, etc. Speaking of human psychology, how the characters, even the subsidiary ones like Gordon and Chantal, changed over time was very moving. Look at Gordon! He was able to create good art when he stood on his own. There's something about doing physical work in order to get to the mental things.

In short, it was a treat to read such a moving and deep piece of literature, and I sincerely hope that there were more of them. Books like this raise the standard of the romance genre.

Summary: Get the Kleenex!
Review: This was a great book, but boy was it hard to read at times because the tears just got in the way. There I was alone in the living room at midnight with the tears running down my cheeks. There was just so much empathy for Honey and the things that happen to her that the tears couldn't be helped! But there was a rainbow to my storm clouds and the tears were worth it!

Summary: One of the Best!!
Review: This was yet another winner by Ms. Phillips. What a GREAT book about a young girl named Honey Jane Moon, who had a tragic life from early childhood but turned it around to work in her favor as she grew into a woman. She is a strong, proud girl with a will of iron, she works hard and makes a big name for herself while trying to find her place in the world. All the way trying to find the love that she has never had in her life. What a fantastic story, it was one of the best stories I have ever read. I loved it, and you will too. It's one of those books that you can't put down, coz you can't wait to see what is going to happen, but you don't want to read it too fast because you don't want it to end!!! One of the best!

Summary: Not one of her better ones
Review: Though I did not enjoy this book very much I adore most of Susan Elizabeth Philip's books. If you are new to SEP, please do not read this one first because it will undoubtedly turn you off from her other books. I suggest reading Nobody's Baby but Mine, or Heaven, Texas for the best of her work to date. I think it's still good to read all her books to see how she has grown as a writer, but don't start with Honeymoon, or Hot Shot (this on is even worse).
