Summary: smashing debut!
Review:

Tess Marsh is deserted on a lonely stretch of highway when her car runs out of gas. The last thing she had expected on her cross-country trip is the guy that arrives on a motorcycle to offer his help. Although Tess is naturally cautious of the black leather clad stranger, she notices his sexy eyes and well fitting jeans.

Dallas Haynes has his own agenda and the last thing he needs is a
complication in the form of this rich girl driving a fancy car. His attraction to her is instant but has little time to appreciate it before they are soon surrounded by a rough biker gang that Dallas knows is trouble. He makes quick decisions to protect the girl knowing the danger she will be in but is determined to succeed in his own way.

This story is very intriguing......even among the unsavory actions of the biker gang the romance that develops between the hero and heroine shines through which kept me entranced from beginning to end. The hot sex scenes and the fantastic hero helped too! It's a five star debut for a new author that will surely make many readers take notice.

Summary: More Please
Review: A very entertaining story. I love Alpha-heroes with secrets. And given her background, the heroine, Tess, reacts appropriately. Hard to believe it was a first book. I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Bach because I've found that an author usually just gets better and better with subsequent books!

Summary: No sexual tension...lame plot
Review: After reading the reviews, I rushed to place my order for this book. Boy, was I disappointed. So disappointed, in fact, that I wasn't able to finish the book. The plot wasn't interesting and the characters were unbelievable. The author kept writing about the characters thoughts and feelings. Dallas immediately fell for Tess...there was no build-up to romance. All in all just not enough plot development.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not a bad debut
Review: All in all a good book with a few problems. While the hero was sexy the heroine was a bit of an airhead. And I found the very end silly, not to mention tacky. But, I would still read another book by Ms. Bach.

Summary: LONE RIDER rides towards a golden strike with wild passion
Review: An inspirational trip on a desolate stretch of highway at Montana for ideas on jewellery design turns disastrous when Tess Marsh is stranded and picked up by gorgeous biker Dallas Haynes. Dallas has embarked on an undercover mission to bust a white slavery syndicate for two years - and he isn't prepared to let Tess foil his plans. He is forced to kidnap her and make her his amorous lover when one of the vile gang-member, Snake advances on her.

Yet the greater surprise is the undeniable attraction that charges between them despite the charade. Tess wants her freedom desperately but is denied by Dallas who swore to protect her life. Their frustration is even intensified by their passionate nature - and in one night of reckless passion, their lives are intertwined. Complicated by Tess's pregnancy and the case far from over, Dallas is in for a hard time grappling both. Even more so when Tess knows zilch about Dallas's identity. Could this romance be a farce with duty at stake?

LONE RIDER is Lauren Bach's maiden debut and the galvanizing action and sizzling passion rivals that of masters Linda Howard and Cherry Adair. It departs from the mainstream novels nowadays when it brings in the issue of pregnancy after unprotected sex. Dallas Haynes as the suave male protagonist braves through Tess's ordeal as a hostage, an abandoned soul and as a mother makes him endearingly affectionate. He is flawed and honest when he speaks about the failure of his former marriage and his selfishness in culminating the break. The readers are swept into a maelstrom of desire and emotions with Bach's focused writing. No doubt the story plot revolves around the tried-and-use formula of cracking down a sex syndicate, LONE RIDER offers some palpable thrills and grit at times. A first-timer at hand, Lauren Bach's hot shot debut rides towards a golden strike with its wild passion.

Summary: Great from Start to Finish!!!
Review: For an author's first book to be this good, there's got to be alot of talent there. Ms. Bach certainly has that - to excess!! Think Linda Howard, Suzanne Brockmann, Cherry Adair.....I could go on, but you get the picture. Treat yourself to a gem - GET THIS BOOK!!!

Summary: Amazing Adventure
Review: From the moment you start reading the adventure begins and only becomes more intense with each page. I became attached to the characters immediately and couldn't put the book down. It's been a long time since I became so involved in good story and I recommend this to anyone looking for something new and exciting. This is not your typical romance book.

Summary: Weak...
Review: I found the female protagonist a weak shell of a woman. I understand that at times we women fantazise being helpless and on the hands of a dominating male who only wants to protect us, but I couldn't figure out why he wanted to protect Tess. The girl never even should a bit of spunk to demonstrate that she had some character in her.

Summary: Could have been alot better.
Review: I got "Lone Rider" because the book looked interesting and the reviews were pretty good. Well never buy a book based on its cover. I was very dissapointted! "Lone Rider" was bad. It seem from page one that there was something different about a Dallas and it didn't take long to find out. And Tess seemed like a character without a clue. If you are for a great romance writer check out Lori Foster

Summary: What could have been...
Review: I had really high expectations for this novel based on some of the reviews I read here. Sadly, this book fell very short. Normally I love romance novels that involve some sort of kidnapping, but I was so disappointed with the heroine and other aspects of the novel that I just couldn't enjoy it.

I'll start off with the biggest disappointment, the heroine Tess. She was one of the weakest, most helpless, and most clueless romance heroines I have ever come across and I have more than 200 romance novels under my belt. For example, her entire time in captivity, she was more worried about getting physical with her captor than she was about trying to figure out a way to escape. Her actions during this part of the novel were not actions any woman with any common sense would take.

My biggest problem with Tess was that she constantly needed saving. About every 25 pages or so, Dallas/Grey would have to come running in and save her from some bad guy, or some disaster. It happened over and over and over again and got very old. I found myself wishing that Tess could manage to save herself for once, but she never did.

I was also disappointed with their romance in general. Normally, a good romance will have the characters build up to the point where they realize they are in love with each other. The author never lets us know why they love each other, or how it developed; suddenly, they're just in love for no apparent reason. I felt that the characters were just confusing strong physical attraction with love. I never felt throughout the entire novel that they were ever in love with each other.

As others have said, the plot had a lot of holes, more than most romances do. However, romance novels typically have a lot of plot holes so I was expecting it.

This novel contained two of my biggest pet peeves with contemporary romance novels. The first is 25+ year old virgins. Nobody in this day and age, male or female, in the Western world makes it to their late 20's still a virgin unless that person- 1. Has strong religious convictions 2. Is very physically unattractive 3. has a disability or 4. Has serious personality problems. None of these really apply to Tess and I found myself rolling my eyes in disgust when she announces her virginity. I really wish contemporary romance authors would quit making their supposedly very attractive heroines virgins. It just doesn't fly anymore.

SPOILER

My second pet peeve in contemporary romance is accidental pregnancy. As a rule, I find it tends to distract from the romance between the main characters. This novel is worse than most with this because the unborn baby becomes a major character in the novel. The baby is mentioned what seems like 5 times a page for the second half of the book. Also, the romance between Tess and her unborn baby seems stronger than her romance with the baby's father. I found the baby's presence in this book to be a total turnoff. Please Authors, keep the pregnancy in the epilogue where it belongs!

With the right heroine, this book could have been a winner. I am really disappointed for Dallas/Grey, I think he was a good character and he deserved a better woman than Tess.
