Summary: We need Moore books like this................
Review: This book was so outrageous I couldn't keep the laughter to myself. I absolutely laughed out loud and those are the best kinds of funny. I can't quite tell you what was funnier: the vision of macho Tucker flying a pink plane, the talking fruit bat, Tuckers outrageous sexual antics, Kimi; the transexual filipino navigator, or the down to earth cannibal.

This book was great it had fun, adventure, suspense, a little heartache, sex, and a plot. You can't beat that. O yeah you can Christopher Moore wrote it so you know it is absolutely an original.

I loved this book and will read all of Christopher Moores work.

Summary: "Weirdness is my business."
Review: I've never met a novel about cannibals, ninjas, shark people, and talking fruit bats I didn't like, and Christopher Moore's fourth novel, ISLAND OF THE SEQUINED LOVE NUN, is no exception. After crashing his employer's pink corporate jet while earning frequent-flier miles in the Mile High Club, Tucker Case, "a hopeless geek trapped in a cool guy's body" (p. 24), lands "the best gig on the planet" (p. 141), delivering mysterious "medical supplies" for a mad, missionary doctor and his sexy, High Priestess wife, on the remote Micronesian island of Alualu. Moore's wacked island adventure makes Gilligan's Island seem like a serious tv drama by comparison.

Summary: FUNNY BUT A FEW CHAPTERS TOO LONG
Review: I consider myself a Christopher Moore fan. This is some funny stuff. CM has a quirky view on things and really knows how to turn a clever phrase. I had a good time reading this book, but it was just a little too long. I think CM could have deleted a few chapters to tighten things up. His shorter novels read funnier. This story didn't warrant 400+ pages.

Summary: Blowing Snot out of my nose!!
Review: I love to laugh and learn. There's nothing better when it comes to reading a great book. And Chris Moore has done it here. I'd recently read 'Blood Sucking Fiends' also (by Mr. Moore), but found this book even more enjoyable than that novel.

The story of 'Island of the Sequined Love Nun' surrounds a man named Tucker Case. He's a pilot for a successful cosmetic guru lady who believes that image is everything. So when Tucker, one of her employees, crashes one of her planes while having sex with a prostitute in the cockpit (no pun intended), she has to do something.

What happens is that Tucker is sent to a far away island to fly 'supplies' on and off this remote tropical paradise. Trouble is, he soon finds out that he's NOT transporting supplies, but something far more hideous...and profitable.

From talking fruit bats with sunglasses, to impaled male sexual organs, this book is a laugh a minute. I had snot blowing out of my nose (because I was just getting over a cold) every time I turned a page and started laughing.

Pick up a copy and check out how true comedy comes alive on the page. Fun stuff!

Summary: A Funny Read
Review: I agree with all of the positive reviews here. I could not put this book down. It had me laughing right from the beginning.
It is filled with adventure and bizarre events. The characters are memorable.

Summary: What a hoot!
Review: From page one I couldn't put this book down. I'm normally a Carl Hiaasen groupie and was steered toward Moore by a friend. Don't plan on getting anything else done or keeping any appointments if you pick up this book.

Summary: Great Title, a Greater Book
Review: Who would of thought a book about cargo cults would be entertaining? This is a laugh out loud funny book, but it is also a story of redemption. If Christopher Moore's is the author, you must read his books. They are all irreverant and funny beyond belief!

Summary: Funniest book I've read in years!
Review: If you have a taste for darkish humor this may be just the book for you. Reminiscent of Early Vonnegut, it is a rip roaring adventure that features ghosts, sex, a talking bat, and multiple airplane thefts. One of the great endings in modern literature and a completely charming cast of characters...even if some of them are cannibals or cross dressers. This book is so much fun that it's a miracle that the conservatives haven't banned it! Shh...don't let them know about it until after you've read it.

Summary: A Wonderful Departure from my norm....
Review: Well, let's see... Talking fruit bat Roberto; a transvestite navigator; a hooker on a quest to join the mile high club. These are but a few of the zany and outrageous characters that are part of the wildest, most outrageous novel I've read in a long time. There are evil conspiracies, suspense, adventure, and Moore invokes a moral point of view where the bad guys come up against a really loose cannon, Tucker Case, pilot of a PINK jet; well, I hesitate to mention more, as I feel the surprise plots are what make this book the bizarre and outlandish jewel of a satirical, rollicking romp through a remote region of the South Pacific. I just loved that fruit bat, Roberto!
Congratulations/Compliments to the cover artist, Michael McGurl. You're the first reason I was drawn to my first Christopher Moore keeper!

Summary: Naughty, but nice
Review: I've read all of Moore's books, but this is my favorite. The "mile high scene" in a pink airplane is a hoot, but the start-- with a cannibal pinching the hero's cheek-- yum, yum? I'm not sure how Mary Kay is taking this either. Th veiled resemblances are thin.

Yes, the hero is wonderfully flawed. If you enjoy Hiaasen or Leonard, you may be ready for this one. I highly recommend it. Great island reading.
