Summary: A satisfying romance
Review: I've read this book twice, once before and then again after moving to DC. Diana's comments about the men in this town, and the southern power influence over it were right on target, so if you're in the dating scene in DC, you'll especially enjoy it.

Otherwise, it's still a great book. Diana is forced to make that classic decision of security v. passion, but it's not the typical gorgeous/dangerous v. serious/rich plot. Bartolomeo's characters are more dimensional than that, and Harry (the passion guy) feels like that guy best friend that you want to protect. And Diana's sisters are hilarious.

All in all, a really good read.

Summary: Love and the Neurotic Femail
Review: If you are a normal female by the definition of normal being neurotic then you will love this book. Plaqued with the perfect sisters and the disfunction, Diana goes through life as the black sheep struggling as we all do for the approval of those we allow in our life by choice or blood. Her life though is disheavled one summer at her father's birthday party (family unions always make for chaos) when she meets a man that offers her emotional support and physical enjoyment something she is lacking in her current relationship. From this point, the reader is allow a small glimsp into her life as this man causes Diana to do some spring cleaning and risk taking in her life.

Summary: Satisfying
Review: It won't light the world on fire, but Cupid and Diana will satisfy anyone with a taste for the new, lightly comic women's fiction books that have taken the book world by storm of late. (Please don't use that gross term "Chick-Lit" in my presence. How condescending can you get?!) Unless, that is, the reader is squeamish about women having more than one sexual partner, in which case, he or she probably won't appreciate Diana's realistic dilemma. However, anyone who's been caught between two people will emphathize, and maybe learn something about relationships, faithfulness, and being true to oneself. The book is worth reading for Diana's letter to Harry alone. The descriptions of clothing are icing on the cake.

One question for Ms. Bartolomeo--why is Annette in the book? She serves no purpose. Get thee to an editor!

Summary: Delightful
Review: Last month I watched the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie "Cupid and Cate" which was based on this book. I thought the movie was very good, so I searched for this book. The book is much better! It's not a heavy intellectual read, but it tugs at your heartstrings. As a woman around Diana's age, I can relate to the frustrations that she has with life and love. I agree with some of the other reviewers that Bartolomeo is sometimes a bit wordy and too descriptive, but overall, it's an entertaining and touching read. Oh if I could only find my own Harry!

Summary: I NEVER read "chick" books, but...
Review: Let's face it. I'm a guy. My usual literary fare is military SF. On the other hand, I know the author, so I had to pick up a copy of _Cupid_and_Diana_. As it turns out, I was cracking up halfway down the first page. Even if you're not into romances, this one's good - a rich smorgasbord of humor and sensation. It does tend to read a bit more like a long short story than a novel, but the content more than makes up for it. Good job, Chris!

Summary: An old friend rediscovered
Review: Many years ago, I knew the author [in a Catholic high school which shall remain nameless.] I had been suprised and delighted to bump into one of her short stories in Cosmo Magazine, Seeing that she had published her first novel was like getting a gift. The book was devoured in two hours and promptly passed to my neighbor.

The love stories were heartwarming; I'm a sucker for happy endings. But the interaction between the four sisters is the highlight of the book. Ms. Bartolomeo has a knack for writing the dialogue so that one can almost see the facial expressions, hear the way the silences are laden with meanings and easily distinguish between the siblings. Too many authors treat the members of a large family as interchangeable. Ms. Bartolomeo makes it very easy to know the characters without wondering, "Now which one is this sister? Why am I supposed to care about her?"

After reading this book, I was reminded of how I felt after finishing COLD MOUNTAIN, albeit that Civil War North Carolina and modern day DC could not be more different milieus. In both books, the characters had worked through a learning process, i.e. Diana's transforming her consignment shop into a success. The happy ending seemed the proper reward for the heroine's perseverance; it was like watching a friend triumph over long odds.

I look forward to many more books; after writing this review, I have a renewed respect for what writers go through in finding the right words!

Summary: Good First Attempt
Review: Read this in less than 24 hours and it was good for a Saturday afternoon. Liked the author's style, but I still don't know why Diana made the choice she did and how she did it. It seems she had more of a problem with her current boyfriend than visa versa. The differences she viewed as tantamount were puzzling to me since I thought people overcome these same differences all the time. It was a copout. However, the book still had good descriptive parts and I enjoyed the other characters, especially Cynthia and Philip, who seemed the most true to themselves.

Summary: a fun quck summer read although a bit predictable
Review: SEt in contemporary Washington DC this is the story of a single 30 something woman who owns a vintage clothing shop. Her big dilemma is whether to stay with her nice prosperous boyfriend or leave him for the nicer and less prosperous guy she has been having an affair with.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A CUTE LITTLE NOVEL
Review: There is very little passion in this book. But then again no all relationships can be fireworks. But Bartolomeo tells a nice little story. I didn't care for all the soap opera stuff but it's worth reading. Also the fact that it cute and small with an original cover makes it appealing. It can be read in a week.
