Rating: Summary: Pat Parelli is the greatest people teacher! Review: This book is about getting your horse to become your partener while gaining his trust and respect without fear and developing yourself to become a better horseman (or woman). I can't believe this book received bad reviews! Parelli's students are his proof. Yes it takes time and it won't happen overnight. He sells his own tools(not gadgets)because nobody made what he was looking for. The "normal" people just don't and won't get it! I have to say that if you get this book (and you take the time to read it) you will want more info and Parelli Natural Horsemanship has all of the info you could possibly need in getting it natural & right with your horse.
Rating: Summary: A Parelli Book Review: This book is worth reading but it is not the be-all-and-end-all of training manuals (and neither is the Parelli concept). Personally, I found the book had a very commercial and promotional edge to it and could have been improved by Pat Parelli writing to enlighten rather than encourage his readers. Don't let this get you down though because the vast array of pictures and detailed descriptions of exercises and techniques is well worth the cost and time. I suggest though that this book is taken with a grain of salt before you rush out to buy all the Parelli merchandise you can lay your hands on.
Rating: Summary: Important book for anyone that truely cares about horses Review: This book should be a required read for anyone who is interested in caring for horses to the best of their ability and look after their mind, as well as their body, whether they be horse owners, horse workers, equestrians, or just an occasional rider. A book full of 'true knowledge' which teaches what is required to gain 'the knack' or 'gift' with horses.Parelli, who is very experienced and knowledgable in the theory and practice of horse training, psychology and behaviour, gives us an understanding of how horses think and learn, so that we can learn to be more sympathetic, learning to do things with the horse, not to the horse, so that the horse can become a willing, safe, happy partner and enjoy your company too. Parelli stresses that since 99% of problems with horses are 'problem people' not 'problem horses' his book is really a people-training book. He has developed a step by step program that is easily followed, that enables anyone with a fair attitude and fee! ling towards the horse to acheive outstanding results with any horse.

Rating: Summary: Only the Best for your horse Review: This book was a real eye opener... I was always told that the only way to get results was to saddle my horse, kick him to go, pull him to stop and use the reins left and right make a turn... This book not only told me what I was doing wrong but also how to fix it... after buying this book I knew this is where I wanted to head horses... I am now studying level two of Parelli Natural Horsemanship and my horse is thanking me for it... Although this book is so great it has it's downfalls also. I found that I needed to watch the training course videos and get a lesson off an improved instructor but once I had done this I was above the clouds reaching for the stars... You be the judge of Pats sysmtem... I know what I would choose. It is definately NATURAL over NORMAL For more info visit Pats site.
Rating: Summary: Best training aid I've bought Review: This by far is the easiest to read, easiest to apply and best training tool I've ever bought. This book was well worth the money. You'll find yourself actually able to sit down and REALLY read the book, not just look for what you want. I've read it several times, and will probably read it again. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: IF YOU WANT TO BE A HORSEMAN...THIS BOOKS FOR YOU. Review: This is a wonderful book outlining Parellis Natural Horsemanship techniques. People like Pat are making the old new again. Learning how to be a better horseman and having a willing equine partner takes alot of time. This is not a quick fix but will lead you on a path where you will learn to soar like the eagles. To comment on the Aussie with the attitude. We all have our ghosts, and have all made mistakes. But, hopefully we learn from them and become better people. Pat has done that. And the relationship that he has with his son, is incrediable. To take a boy who is physically and mentally challenged and incorporate him in his clinics. To see his son beam as he rides his horse at liberty and with a big smile on his face, is a credit to not only Pats son but to the man that has taught his son to be a natural horseman and more importantly an outstanding member of society against all odds. To the man and the horses that he loves and to the family that he loves I say thank you for reminding us that we can achieve our dreams.
Rating: Summary: Understand what is done wrong... Review: This is an excellent book. It is a very good guide on training your horse using natural ways. It teaches to think and act like a horse so that you understand each other. If you are completely novice about horse training, this book will be more helpful after you see some "ordinary" training methods in order that you can compare and see the difference.
Rating: Summary: It's not the best book out there. Review: To be "nice" I give this book a "2 star" as it interesting reading. There are now a lot of other books available that I would recommend rather than this book. This book offers a structured approach that people find comfortable but I would recommend that if you do buy this book also buy Mark Rashid's book, "Horses Never Lie: The Heart of Passive Leadership," and/or Marty Marten's book "Problem Solving, Preventing and Solving Common Horse Problems" and/or "True Horsemanship Through Feel" by Leslie Desmond and Bill Dorrance.
Rating: Summary: Natural Horse Man Ship Review: What I like about Parelli's book is his distinct ability to articulate his concepts in a practical and meaningful way. So many of the other horse whisperer writers seem incapable of articulating both the theory and the practical application of their concepts. I find that among the "natural" horseman, Parelli stands head and shoulders above the rest. He is an excellent and talented instructor who clearly communicates his techniques so that anyone can apply them.
