Rating: Summary: Arilyn at its best again Review: After already reading Daughter of the Drow, Evermeet,Elfsong and Elfshadow, I hungrily took up this book to read further on in the intriguing story of elves on Faerun. And I enjoyed it every bit. Discovering more truths about the elven culture and history and a new tribe of elves--the wild forest elves- all of this and more you can find in this book,
Rating: Summary: Disappointment Review: After reading Elfshadow and Elfsong I became a great fan of Elaine's books, her characters and the Forgotten Realms in general. I couldn't wait to read the further adventures of Arilyn and Danilo, and was disappointed with Silver Shadows. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book, but it was without the charm that made the first two books fantastic. The scenes and scenarios which comprise the story seem all too familliar, as if recycled. Alrilyn's all-powerful precense and abilities are getting tired, making her a bit unlikeable and annoying. The book's other characters are also not at their best, as it seem that they are basic archtypes fitted into Elaine's usual template. In closing, this is an entertaining book, worth picking up for fans, but not at all a milestone.
Rating: Summary: WELL DONE Elaine Cunningham-AGAIN!!! Review: Arilyn Moonblade is back! The half-elf Harper finds herself involved in another adventure in the lands of Tethyr this time, tying to save Green (Wild) elves from Zhentilar deserters. The book is so incredibly well written that the reader feels that they have been transported to another universe and are actually present among the characters, seeing what they see, feeling what they feel, sensing what they sense. Elaine Cunnigham has truly outdone herself once again and has presented us with a masterpiece of literature the likes of which we have seen only in JRR Tolkien's work, RA Salvatore's The Dark Elf and Icewind Dale trilogies and in authors Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends trilogies. She has done a FANTASTIC job of keeping a balance between what is suitable to young readers and what to adults! Subtle hints such as "Omnivore" Ferret/Amulet of underwater Breathing in the Mistress Penelope's Baths and Garvanell's "payment" is exactly what many of us fans out there who are now in our 30's would like to see more of-something a bit more spicy than the usual. From the moment you pick up the book you have trouble putting it down and if that is not a clear sign of a fantastic writer/author and a great plot, I don't know what is! Elves, Zhents, assassins, Duty, honor, bravery, magic, and swordfights are all about. A great trilogy indeed with Elfsong and Elfshadow and a "must read" along with Evermeet! One should seriously start thinking about maybe turning them into movies... DON'T MISS IT!!!

Rating: Summary: Great plot, but the characterizations needs work Review: First of all, I'm a HUGE fan of Elaine Cunningham's(in fact, I'd give all 5 of the other books of her's that I've read 5 stars each) so you can imagine my surprise at not liking "Silver Shadows" as much as her others. In fact, the plot is just as good as her others. However, Foxfire was so perfect that he soon became unlikable, and I for reasons I won't go into here(but please feel free to e-mail me and ask. i'd love to meat more of Ms. Cunningham's fans)I lost a great deal of respect for Arilyn. However, I did regain some of that respect because of her determination to spare Danilo the fate she unwittingly doomed him to. so: 5 stars for the plot, but minus a star for Foxfire and Arilyn, each.
Rating: Summary: A fantastic book about the depts of hope Review: Having already enjoyed Daughter of the Drow, also by Elaine Cunningham, I purchased this book with high expectations as to the plot and characters within. I am happy to report that this book is every bit as good as the Daughter of the Drow, with a delightful set of characters, like Arilyn Moonblade, and Danilo Thann. Set to an almost impossible task, Arilyn must discover whether she is willing to risk her soul as well as her life. Written with such a deft hand, it is not surprising that Elaine Cunningham is considered by must Forgotten Realms Fans as one of the best writers with TSR. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in the Realms, or as a present to interest someone in reading about the Realms
Rating: Summary: Not her best, but not bad. Review: I don't think this one is Elaine Cunningham's best peice of work, but it is still an enjoyable read. If you are a fan of Arylyn, or a faithfull reader of Elaine Cunningham, you will like this one. The only complaint I have about it, and I feel it is a big one, is that Arylyn is a systematic, undefeatable, killing machine in this book. By the end, the numerous combat scenes get to be a bit predictable and boring. The Moonblade's power begins to not merely rival, but a strong argument could be made that it exceeds the power of another famous blade wielded by a certain *Melnibonean. But hey, it's worth reading anyway. There is alot more to it than the aspect that I disliked. It is filled with Elaine Cunningham's witty humor, and there are other characters that are quite entertaining and interesting.* Checkout books by Michael Moorcock for more on this reference.
Rating: Summary: A good book Review: I liked this book very much.Arilyn is a great heroine.I also thought that Jill was very funny and not your average gruff dwarf-type.I wasn't so fond of the parts with Hasheth, but overall this is a book I am going to read many times.Elaine Cunnigham is one of the better writers of Realms books.I hope that she will someday write a book telling what happened to Arilyn and Danilo after this.
Rating: Summary: A great book in a wonderful series! Review: I loved this book which continued the wonderful tale of Arilyn Moonblade. Silver Shadows helped give incredible insight into Arilyn's inner turmoil stemming from her half-elven heritage, the moonblade which she wields, and her evolving relationship with Danilo Thann. You also get a rare and interesting glance into the interworkings of the elven royal family on evermeet and their feelings towards both Arilyn and the forest elves living in Fauren. And lets not forget the wonderful Silver Shadows (which I won't spoil for you what they are!) As usual Elaine Cunningham weaves a wonderful story perfect laced with great dialogue, interesting characters, and great action!
Rating: Summary: Silver Shadows shows Silver Lining Review: I was immensely impressed with this book. I found Cunningham's previous books to be highly enjoyable reading, but her characters seemed a bit too bland for my taste. In this book however, I really felt that she breathed life into Arilyn. We finally get to see what's going on inside her head and get to really see her as a person. A well done book, and make sure to catch the next one, Elfsong, which twlls us what Danilo was doing during her adventure.
