Summary: Elaine Cunnigham strikes once more!
Review: The book has an intriguing story about an intriguing people (the forest elves). Arilyn's conflict with them, the humans and her mission objectives have us sitting on the edges of our seats from the first to the last scene. For the first time I realized that I really like the way Elaine Cunningham describes her fights. Not too elaborately and in detail, but vivid enough to inspire us to use our imagination. As usual Elaine Cunningham's characters have a lot of depth and you really sympathize with them. Arilyn goes through some similarly decisive changes as Danilo Thann does in the parallel running story "Elfsong". You feel deeply touched by everything she is going through and will really enjoy the end. Points which I did not like: Okay, I know that because Danilo and Elaith were busy elsewhere, there was an immense deflation of humor throughout most of this novel. But putting in the Laurel and Hardy of Faerun, Jill and Kendel, seems to me a bit as an artificial solution to the problem. They simply did not fit into this story and the ease with which they were allowed to join the fight strikes me as pretty unrealistic. The hunt for the forest elves was another point. It is their terrain and they have the definite advantage over their human chasers. So why keep running instead of just laying an ambush and kicking their butts back to the fortress? Also Foxfire was just too perfect. Does he have any flaws at all? Hasheth is just Hasheth and I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn up at decisive moments in the future history of Cormyr. Read this book people, it is definitely worth it!

Summary: The Elves need a hero,Arilyn wants rid of her moonblade, oops
Review: The Forest Elves are being framed for attacks on caravans. And if this was'nt bad enough an army of mercenaries are destroying their villaiges & enslaving the elves, those are the lucky ones... Becuase those who don't get enslaved are dead..Arilyn seeks answers about herself & searches for away to keep from binding herself to the Moon Blade but it may cost her everything she's ever wanted & loved..This book is the third of a great series by E. Cunningham. The characters are so well formed that you feel you're right there with them. The series spans 4 books ELFSHADOW,ELFSONG,SILVER SHADOWS,& The DREAM SPHERES.The characters grow & learn more about themselves as you do.This is one of the best series I have read,& I've never seen a story unfold & evolve better than this one..

Summary: Silver Shadows
Review: This is yet another great book by Elaine Cunningham. The first fantasy book I ever read was the first book in this series, "Elfshadow." Her writing is what got me interested in fantasy books, Forgotten Realms in particular.

I really like the way she portrays her characters, and I can really imagine what they look, sound, and act like. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially if you've read the other two books! Cunningham's writing has definitely kept my imagination working!

Summary: Good, but not great...
Review: This was a pretty good book, in comparison to the other fantasy novels on the shelf, but it was nowhere near the spellbinding... flow that carried the other two along. In the first two there was a sense of personality that carried each character along, something that you could identify with, even in the villians. I didn't see this so much in Shadows. Overall worth reading, but don't go in expecting the same quality of Elfsong and Elfshadow.

Summary: Wonderfully Written... Horribly Edited
Review: This was an amazing book. Elaine Cunningham lets readers into Arilyn's complicated mind and the strange powers of the Moonblade become more apparent and it's demands worsen upon it's half-elven bearer. I enjoyed every page of this book, the plot, characters and setting were masterfully put on paper but...
You might wonder why I only gave 4 stars when this book's plot and characters are obviously 5-star material. While Elaine did an amazing job for this book whoever edited it did not. I am no english grammar whiz but still there were obvious mistakes that should never have been printed. For example, on one page a halflings name is Sandusk and on the next it is Suldusk. Also, the land which this tale takes place in is named Tethyr, it says so in the map in the front of the book but throughout the pages it is misspelled, one sentance it is Tethyr and on the next line (really!) it's spelled Tethir. I know these are just annoyances but that's it!
I enjoyed the premise and style of this book, I love the way Elaine Cunningham writes but I was thoroughly annoyed by the editorial mistakes.
A 5 star book
A 3 star editing job
Please overlook the bad editors and read what Elaine Cunningham is saying, it's a wonderful book, please read.

Summary: I Say The Words "Great" and "Excellent" a lot in reviews...
Review: This was one of the best of the Songs and Swords series. The author introduces a new race of elves, the lythari, which are also known as the "Silver Shadows". Arilyn needs to seek the Silver Shadows' help to overcome a new threat to the forest of Tethir- Men are logging it and cutting down the ancient trees and must be stopped. So all of the fey forest creatures and also some unlikely outsiders too, including a dwarf named Jill, a moon elf, an Alchemist who finds much pleasure in blowing things up and Arilyn, the Half Moon elf, all team up against the human threat to the forest. Read it, you'll enjoy it immensely.

Summary: A continuation of an excellent series.
Review: To be honest, my original favorite authors from the world of Forgotten Realms were Ed Greenwood and R.A. Salvatore, but after reading this book, Ed got the shaft <sorry, Ed!>. I'm a big fan of Arilyn's, and Danilo is always a crack-up, but this book takes the series to a new level. The ending i especially loved, and i can't say why without ruining the book, but i promise you you'll love it too. If you haven't read any of this series, get them NOW, because after R.A. Salvatore, Elaine Cunningham is *the* premiere author in the Realms today.
