Rating: Summary: A Surprising, Entertaining Novel Review: I was pleasantly surprised by Mosaic. It was a terrific book! Now that I've read it, I know a lot more about Kathryn Janeway than I did before. Ms. Taylor does an excellent job in writing Mosaic. It was closely tied with the series, unlike many other Trek books. I could not put this book down! It kept me in suspense, and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. There was only one minor flaw with Mosaic : the presence of the Kazon. I really liked the book, but I'm not a big fan of the Kazon. They seem really annoying.
Rating: Summary: Buy it Review: I really enjoyed the book, I thought a whole book about her background might have been better, but it was well written.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This book is brilliant! I've read it at least ten times (I'm on the 11th now) and I never get bored of it....it's the sort of thing that once you get started you can never finish!
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: This is the first book I bought in my life, and it's so worth the money! I couldn't put this book down! It's a wonderful book! You don't even have to like Janeway to enjoy this incredible book. I rate it a must read!
Rating: Summary: A Woefully incomplete biograpy of Captain Kathryn Janeway Review: There were too many gaps in MOSAIC. It leapt and skimmed through her career when it should have cavorted and revelled in it. Kathryn Janeway's intensity, determination and leadership qualities rival that of Captain James T Kirk. But I would have liked to have known more about her career in starfleet, the star-ships she served on, her various ranks. Captain Jean Luc Picard was promoted from a lieutenant to a captain after saving the USS Stargazer and her crew, becoming it's new commander after the untimely death of the captain.Did Janeway leapfrog any ranks, was she ever a first officer etc? No I'm afraid I was a little disppointed but it was an adequate novel and insight into Janeway's character.
Rating: Summary: An Excellant Story that tells a Tale Review: Jeri Taylor takes the life of Captain Janeway and makes her real. i could not put this book down. each time she had a joyous moment i cheered and when she had a loss i felt like crying. I do wish that janeway had stayed with mark but later we learn that she did not and that was a disappointment in the show. the death of her father and husband-to-be was a true tearjerker and a huge surprise. mosaic is more then the story of there life it is the tale of a girl who sets out to persue a dream and becmes a captain in the end!
Rating: Summary: So good my friend has decided to permanently borrow it. Review: This book is unlike other Star Trek books as it is closely linked to the series. Although other books also contain events refering to the series, the series doesn't contain events refering to the books. It is brilliantly written and very compelling. I'm having trouble at the moment as several of my friends all want to borrow it because I've told them how great it is, I can't get the read it again!
Rating: Summary: Keep reaching for the stars Review: Finally, we have the definitive Bible on the life of Kathryn Janeway. It was full of amusing little factoids about her life that would later appear from time to time on the show: a blind date with Will Riker in her days at Starfleet Academy, meeting Data when he was a cadet and she was a kid, her resentment at her parents wanting to live a non-24th century lifestyle, and the origins of her relationship with boyfriend Mark. The "side story" of shooting it out with the Kazon was a good one, as well.
Rating: Summary: The backstory on Kathryn Janeway that Voyager fans need. Review: In "Mosaic," Jeri Taylor reveals the life and times of Kathryn Janeway, the woman destined to experience an incredible journey in the Delta Quadrant. From Kathryn's childhood experiences to her relationships with her parents and sister to her years of education, the reader is given a unique insight into Kathryn Janeway's character. The reader is shown how the mosaic of Kathryn Janeway's life has been woven together and continues to evolve. The events in the novel can be considered canonical with respect to the Star Trek universe since she is an executive producer of the series. All fans of the most recent addition to the family of Star Trek captains will want this treasure trove of detail
Rating: Summary: A producer and a writer?! Jeri Taylor can do it all!\ Review: I think that Mosaic was a compelling and masterful telling of the story of Kathryn Janeway. I zipped right through it, and so did all of my Trekker friends. I loved the way that it goes back and forth between the present and the past. I think that it was great how one of the chapters connected to something Kathryn had said in the second season's " Deadlock ". I think that if she has any more spare time, Jeri Taylor should write another installment to the "Voyager" book series. My advice is to read it. It is a good idea to invest in buying it in hard cover. "Live Long and Prosper!"
