Rating: Summary: The best there is! Review: The Belgariad is simply the best fantasy I have ever read. The characters are so great that you actually start to miss them after it's all over. I started reading the Mallorean(a continuation of the Belgariad) and it is really good as well but it in no way tops the original. It's just so much fun to read!
Rating: Summary: never found an equal to this series Review: I loved this book and could not put it down from the first time I picked it up and that includes the rest of the series.David eddings is a great inspiration for a would be writer and I hope that he continues writing fantastic series like the BELGARIAD and MALLOREON.The only complaint that I had about this series is that after I finised the series and the additional books I missed my faviret charcters which are silk, which he is so funney in his comments and the little scraps he gets into like for example the time he triked a merchant into letting him take a cart full of grochies for only a couple of silver. And the wise cracking belgarth.I wish that I could take the charecters and write a whole new story using them.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT book !!!!! Review: Eddings is really great. I really enjoyed this book. It's funny and enjoyable, and the characters are likeable. My boyfriend recommended this book to me, and eversince that, I become an Eddings fan.... and I read the whole Belgariad series, and I totally enjoyed it !!!
Rating: Summary: Very enjoyable Review: I really enjoy this book, it's a page turner. After I read this book, I became a fantasy fans reader. All in all, I really like the way David Eddings write. It is humorous, not so serious, like some writers are.
Rating: Summary: JUST BUY THEM ALL NOW! Review: These series of books will hook you and not let you go. The characters will become family members, and you'll not want this series to end. I read all 5 books of this series in one week, and I don't normally read books that fast. Get ready to lose sleep, becuase you can't put them down. Go ahead and order the next series (The Malloreon) and save yourself some time. You'll be eager to visit your friends again. But try not to go too fast, you'll be sorry when you finish and there's no more!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book, couldn't put it down. Review: I first read "Pawn of Prophecy" when I was in 10th grade. I then proceeded to devour every other book in the "Belgariad" series, and when all the books in the "Mallorean" were available, I devoured them. While I'm aware the overwhelming majority of readers were floored by this book, I have read some of the comments of other readers who were not impressed. Most of their beef seems to be either with the "annoying" characters, or the "no-brain" plot. I, personally, found the characters to be unbelievably entertaining, and feel this is one of the series' strong points. The humorous banter and interaction between the characters is absolutely priceless at times. I laughed out loud more times than I can count. Beyond even that, though, I was impressed with how well each character was fleshed out. This book is fabulous, and the "Belgariad" series is too. Buy several books in the series so you don't have to wait after reading one to go on to the next. Eddings does tend to leave you cliff-hanging at the end of each book. END
Rating: Summary: An entralling first book for the Belgariad series. Review: This series definately ranks amoung my top five for the all time greats. Pawn of Prophecy is an excellent book but it doesn't make you wonder very much. For example Garion heard about the mysterious sorceress Polgara and his aunt's name is Pol. Figure it out. Little things like that don't leave much to the imagination . This is an excellent book though and I'd definately recommend it to readers who like fantasy. It is easy to read and is quite hard to put down. Give it a try.
Rating: Summary: A series no fiction reader should miss! Review: What can I say about David Eddings? I was just browsing a bookstore about a year ago and Edding's fantasy series caught my attention. Call it divine inspiration, but I bought the first book, Pawn of Prophecy, and went home and sat down to read for a while. I read half of the book that night. The next day, after work, I went out and bought the rest of the Belgariad, and finished PoP that night. Halfway through the third book in the series, I went out and bought the Mallorean series (the second series to the whole story) and the companion volumes, Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress. I couldn't put any of them down, and as I tore through them like wildfire, I realized I had never read a more enjoyable tale. As I neared the end of Polgara the Sorceress, I felt a sense of regret that the splendid adventure was finally drawing to a close. I've bought this book for several friends, and I can't stop recommending it to anybody willing to fall in love with a new series. My all-time favorite modern fiction series, hands down. The magic never stops in this tale, and if you miss this one, you're really missing out.
Rating: Summary: It Kicks! Review: Pawn of Prophecy is the first book of one of the best fantasy series ever written. (excluding the Lord of the Ring)
