Rating: Summary: This series is the best one i have ever read Review: The book Pawn of Prophecy has kept me up so late reading i have barley been able to put it down it is a great book
Rating: Summary: This is the most fun you can have reading!!!!!! Review: Back in 1982 a friend of mine told me that he had heard David Eddings was a great writer. On the strength of his recommendation, having not read anything by David Eddings himself, and needing some new books to read. I picked up Pawn of Prophecy and Queen of Sorcery. That was the best decision I ever made. I am 33 years old and love a well told story that is both engaging and enjoyable. I have found that mix in all the books of The Belgariad, The Mallorean, The Elenium and The Tamuli. David Eddings writes so you actually care whether a character lives or dies. The stories are witty and heart-wrenching, you find that as you put one of the books down you miss the characters, they are written so you grow with them, you face down their greatest fears and live through good times and bad, beautifully written. I have read the entire series (10 books) 5 or 6 times. This is the best reading I have done this side of Robert Jordan's - Wheel of Time series, for different reasons of course. I only wish David and his wife would continue in this vein. Togerther they are fantastic writers, thanks for the great fun in reading!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The perfect start to an absolutely splendid fantasy series. Review: I read this book quite a few years ago when I checked it out from the school library, for the first time, and then I purchased it before I was finished. I have since re-read it well over 20 times, and I plan on reading it more and more as the years roll on.
Rating: Summary: As soon as I finished it I decided I had to get the next one Review: I liked Pawn of Profecy very much. I had read The Lord of the Rings, and was glad to find more books like it, and almost as good. I think the following books will be even better, because the story has barely started. The end. Bye-Bye.
Rating: Summary: My Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Research class Review: I have to read the first two books of the series and compare them to Star Wars in a comparison/contrast essay. I do not mind the story, but I am boggled by the mass that I have to read in such a short time. The story is good thus far, but such a project is somewhat discouraging from enjoyment of the work.
Rating: Summary: Eddings is a master of Fantasy novels. Review: I am 19 years old and have been reading Eddings since I was 13. I love his novels. They have adventure, romance, suspence, and so much more. He ads humor in his writing as well, which I really love. To me his books about Belgarion and his adventures are the best spun tales of Eddings's time. I am glad my father gave me those books, and started me on the adventure of Belgarion, Polgara, and the ancient one, Belgarath.
Rating: Summary: Best first book I've ever read. Review: I've read many fantasy novels and series before but David Eddings The Belgariad is the best I've ever read. Likewise, Pawn of Prophecy was the best introductory book I've had the pleasure of reading. It introduced, and described the characters in an intriguing and manner. I couldn't put the books down. I read all five books in about eight days.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best. Review: I think Edding's books are some of the best. I Rank him as one of my favorites with Robert Jordan, RA Salvatore, and Elaine Cunningham. His books are more for those who don't want to tackle an 800 page book like one of Jordan's or Goodkind's.
Rating: Summary: Masterful opening book to the series. Review: This series - the Belgariad and the follow on series - the Mallorean are action packed, humorous, with good plots and subplots. I don't read books for any sort of theme or deep hidden message, I read them to be entertained. Eddings did a good job here - in fact the best I have found of any of the modern writers. I have read some of Eddings other series and have not been as impressed. These characters came to life for me and it is a series I recommend to others very highly. It is also a series I re-read periodically. Sit back and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: If you have any interest in fantasy this book is a must! Review: I loved Belgariad! Not just Pawn of Prophecy, but all of them! Mr. Eddings is truly a genuis! The charectors are new and different! Each with his or her own style! I could read Belgaraid twice a day every day and STILL love it! 10 star book~ **********!
