Rating: Summary: The new Tolkien Review: I read The Desecration when I was a teenager. I am now 31 and this book has stayed in my mind for all these years. I've never read a book that has made that much of an impact on me. I am so glad to know that there is a 2nd one and I will be looking for the 3rd.
Rating: Summary: the long wait Review: i read the first book the desecration about 1 year after it came out. what a great book it has all the power of robert e howard yet the complex story line of s donaldson or r wenberg. i absolutely love these 2 books desecration and the dead i was a young man when i read the first now im nearly 40. but they still fill my dreams i just cant say enough i have read fantasy books all my life i rate these as some of the best. i can only hope the author has not kicked the bucket in hopes of a finish or maybe books 4 5 6 so on. i have 2 copies of each left. most have went to the other people i have turned on to reading mark c perry thanks.
Rating: Summary: Brutal!! Awesome!! If you can read... READ THIS BOOK!! Review: I would give it and 11 if i could. I borrowed this book from my friend Steve. He said it was the best book he had ever read, and he reads alot. When I started reading the first couple of pages, I couldn't stop. It has the feeling of continuous action, like when you read the first Star Wars trilogy, it has characters that you can like, but the enemies aren't stupid. The author is not afraid to kill off these characters. (these things happen in the real world). It has the brutallity of war, it reads like watching the war scenes in the movie Braveheart. Imagine Braveheart in a fantasy setting. In my opinion, NO ONE has ever written this good. The feelings I felt when reading this book, anger, anxiety, the need for vengence, I found myself grinding my teeth, even crying in some places. After reading the book twice, i reluctantly gave it back to my friend. I spent the next 2 years looking for it, and the next one finally finding it at an old comic book store. I HAD TO HAVE THIS BOOK. You will too.
Rating: Summary: Where Gods bestrode the world... Review: It was so long ago that I read Morigu:The Dead that I cannot remember the year. Nevertheless, I, like so many others, found it to be a thrilling ride into the fantastical. The Morigu is perhaps the most blood-curdlingly riveting hero I have ever come to "know" -- I absolutely love him!!! 'The Dead' is one of my greatest treasures, and I regularly devour its pages with the fervent hope that by some miracle of Demi-God directed intervention, the series will one day be completed. After reading Mr. Perry/Leahy's editorial, I have real hope that this will somehow come to pass. Now, if I can only persuade my credit-card equipped mum to purchase a copy of 'The Desecration' for me... Please, Mr. Leahy. Its been almost a year to the day when last you "spoke" to us...we're all going into withdrawal here!!!
Rating: Summary: The one book I'll never get tired of reading Review: It's been 13 years since the first book and 11 since the second, but not a year goes by that don't think about them. If they ever reprint them I'll have to buy them again because my copies are so worn out. We may never know the ending but we won't ever forget the story.
Rating: Summary: Hallelujah! Review: Man am I glad I checked back to Amazon and saw Mark's comments! I, like many others, have wondered if he was still writing and when the next Morigu would come out.I'm glad to hear that he is still writing, as that gives me hope that we will see a conclusion to the series! I pared down my book collection several years ago in the interest of space, but my 2 Morigu books still have pride of place on the top shelf, along with Robert Jordan and David Gemmell. When I re-read them it still amazes me how much Mark developed as a writer over the course of the 2 books. It makes me wonder how much more developed he must be now! If you haven't read these books and can find them, I highly recommend them!
Rating: Summary: The Best fantasy since Fingolfin battled Morgoth Review: Mark C. Perry introduces a world of fantasy unlike any author today. His writing captivates the reader to the point of sin. I have read the two Morigu books several times each and each time it is like reading them for the first time. To anyone who has not read them, you will not be able to read them just once
Rating: Summary: Great re-make of Celtic Lore Review: Mark Perry has written one of the most captivating fantasy stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading. When so many authors like Donaldson and Jordan have stories that seem to drag on endlessly, Perry's crisp, action-packed writing delivers. More events happen in one chapter than I've read in entire novels. Morigu is a guilty pleasure; sure I've read a lot of so-called "classics," but I love sneaking back every now and then to re-read Morigu. IF YOU'RE OUT THERE MR. PERRY, PLEASE FINISH THE SERIES!!
Rating: Summary: Yes, he is alive. Review: Mark, I too have waited with baited breath for the 3rd installment in this series. I can only hope that you are writing the next book as I write this. I am an avid player of Asheron's Call and have 3 characters named for characters in your book. Yes, Trell'dem still lives on the world of Dereth as well as his son Cathbad and Lonnlarcan has a breath of new life as an immortal swordsman. Please appease all of your fans and see it through until the end. I have no editing expereince, but I would love to review the next novel, if there is such a thing.
